  • Just need a 64-bit processor and you could have something VERY powerful.

  • just out of curiosity, how did you get the stuff to do that. How did you get the wiring, the board, and the screen to do this with?

  • on the real mario u cant go bacwards o.O

  • I wish the start of Pokemon games was always that fast

  • Oh my, at the very end it sounds like a heart monitor! "Operation successful, patient dead."

  • Awesome.

  • What's the name of the multicart you used that had Tetris?

  • I never realized at the time how incredibly nice the screen on a gameboy Color is. Makes me miss mine.

  • Nintendo will sue you for torture...

  • Will the CPU and the Game Boy melt ?

  • 46mhz not feeling so well now are yea GBA :D

  • 07:45

    OH YEAH

  • Nintendo equipment for you. They know how to make a pretty solid device. Shame they didn't take advantage of a higher clock speed, though.

  • This is just pure entertainment :)

  • omfg gbc at 46mhz ... Now you can play Nintendo DS games on it xD

  • @paco666xd Or GBA games at almost 3x speed.

  • Just a little bit more and it will run Crysis!

  • how hot does it get?

  • My gbc doesent have color i need to have it under a light is this normal?

  • @playPS3play You have a Gameboy. And yes they never had backlights.

  • Lol imagine that on a 3.5 GHz Quad-Core

  • @makedonas86 let me tell you this... my shitty 1.6 ghz 1 gb (RAM) pc can WITH BROWSER run an emulation of gbc that you cannot play...

id rather not even TRY it on that thing... more ds overclocking... which is pretty easy.

  • @makedonas86 and its a very used single yes i repeat SINGLE core... so that there?? hell you cant even do it..

  • I hate it when people put their greasy fingers on screens -.-

  • Finally a decent way to grind for levels in Pokemon :)

  • when its up at 46 its almost better than the advance ....

  • whats the point of thgis?

  • can it run crysis 2 or gta 4 ?

  • Or you could just shoot up crystal meth into the headphone jack...

  • @EMaster9 i dont think so :p he replaced the original crysyal with that big green board... so the gbc is not gonna get hot

  • cheating @mario :P

  • Does it get too hot?

  • so thats hw you grab the top of the flag.... a overclocked gbc

  • i want to know how (also i have the same gameboy :] )

  • I did that with an Emulator ... played Pokemon at 4.2 GHz I7-930... it was sooooooo fast!

  • Realmnete estoy viendo algo que me ha dejado pasmado. Me ha encantado.

Y perdona mi ignorancia. Y si me permites la pregunta. ¿Que es ese cacharro con el que le aumentas los megahercios? Gracias.

  • I want this for my ds.

  • 48 MHz is pretty sick ^^

is this tuning with the normal oscilator or is it switched with a higher one?

  • .2 extra hertz thats so sick!!!!!!! lol funny though

  • lol its gonna explode!

  • Any particular reason why the GBC wasn't launched with a higher clockspeed? Compatibility with GB games?

  • nerd

  • @squfucs stfu

  • @Fosten12 it;s good to be a nerd. Nerd Pride World Wide.

  • Will that overheat it?

  • why

  • CHEATER!

  • first it surprised me that your pokemon was in spanish then i noticed that your nickname was marcan :D

  • What pins of the Gameboys crystal did you solder those 2 wires to? I see 4 pins on the crystal oscillator. 2 go into the CPU, and the other 2 wire over to some capacitors or resistors (it may be ground?). Thanks.

  • @Haunted360 Nevermind. I got mine to work. See my channel...

  • I am curious is he actually overclocking the GBC. Its not touching the GBC hardware. I think he just has the FBGA board act as a GBC Color and reclocking that device?

Not saying I'm not impressed just it would be interesting if you could control the production board.

  • 8mhz = normal mode

    16mhz =expert mode

    47mhz=... ITS OVER 9000!! XD

  • How to break the mario speedrun record. This is how. :D Nice work

  • MAKE IT GO FASTER WITH MOAR PRECISION! Sorry, that's just my inner geek. But please, figure out some way.

  • But what happens when you overclocked it Very but VERY much??

  • gameboy color dont look that 'portable' anymore lol

  • look at the timer in the corner

  • i kinda miss playing pokemon blue on my GBC, i traded it for a ps2 memory card back in '01. now i realize that it was a poor descition

  • i thought the gameboy was going to explode

  • why would you wanna OC a gameboy?

  • Could you wire it on something like GBA ? And where do you wire it ? Where the crystal is ?

  • Whoa, my calculator is faster than a GBC

  • Chuck Norris overclocks stuff just by touching it.

  • I bet that gameboy can run crysis 2

  • What would you have to do to make it go even higher? I wonder what the ultimate limit would be.

  • Wow gameboy on crack

  • 9:59 sounds like your little pokemon died :D

  • we can use this overclocking method to skip those cut scenes that wont allow us to skip!

  • Do you have water cooling in it?

  • AAAAAAA

  • spanish pokemon silver? haha.

  • The gameboys picture looks so nice, like high def. Like it is being drawn on the screen :D

  • holy crap! I have the EXACT same Gameboy color setup as you! Purple see-through, missing battery back, and super Mario bros. deluxe!

  • do any of you guys know how much a gameboy color cost at gamestop or disk replay

  • holy shit, I thought the gameboy was gonna blow up at the end xD

  • pokemon edicion perta???? wtf language is.

  • @Allosaurus87 spanish

  • This makes me wonder, if they GBC supports such high frequencies, why didn't it have such high frequencies to boot?

  • NicE!

  • data plays this at like 4 exahertz. everything blends to white and a high pitch frequency we cant hear, but trust me. he beats the game and saves the princess about 40 times a minute.

  • @LiquidChem It takes about 5:40 to beat the game at normal speed (on a tool assisted speedrun), so at 4 exahertz it would take 0.7 nanoseconds (that's saving the princess 1410000000 times per second). 40 times a minute only requires running at 1.88 gigahertz.

  • @marcan42 you misunderstood and missed my point entirely, but i like your mathematics though. keep up the good work, i like your mods a lot!

  • @marcan42 at 4 exahertz, Mario kills the princess and sleeps with Bowzer (finally gets some).

  • @marcan42 cool my pc does it up to 100 times a minute

  • @marcan42 He only saved her 40 times in one minute because he isn't that good at the game.

  • I WANT IT !

  • That would be awesome for a lsdj setup. Finally accurate pitching ! :)

  • Ha, I've got that embedded system. I might do this.

  • Has it crashed?

  • @superearthbender nvm... *sheepish grin*

  • dose this work with the gamegear if so

Lets see how fast sonic can really go =]

  • I don't wnt to blaze through the monologues, I like them. I could probably speed up my time quite a bit on Super Paper Mario, but I like to read the book they've shoved in there. Yes, I'm a super nerd.

  • i lold at 5:30

  • so what speed do black cartridges run at?

  • Even PS1 only ran at like 38mhz... jesus

  • you mist sooooo many extra life life life dude

  • speed hack...

  • Overclocking isn't a good thing. Overclocking can burn out the central processor and/or corrupt the data on the cartridge. It's just like overclocking a computer. Yuo risk damaging your hardware and damaging your hard drive. Believe me, I know what I'm talking about because I overclocked my computer and it damaged data on the drive. I'm lucky I didn't lose anything.

  • hey this is a new glitch copy and past this into 3 other videos and press ctrl + F4 and you will get membership for 200 years! plus 2000000000000 coins! i tried and it worked

  • 4:00 sounds like some kind of track to a slo motion porno

  • Ostia! Eres español! Pokemon Plata FTW! xDD

La S3EBOARD sirve para otras consolas?

  • Does this run crysis in full settings?

  • @BannedMapleStory HAHA LOOL!

  • At 35~ MHz, the Tetris theme sounds completely different.

  • so i you had Tetris and lowered the frequency to 1 mhz you would have all the time in the world to figure things out?

  • 0:54-0:58 Do my ears deceive me?! That sounds so similar to a soundtrack from New SMB. Not sure what the name is; but I've heard it before.

  • @MarkNESStarFox I think you're referring to the music that plays on the mushroom houses, which IIRC is a sped up/pitched up remake of the SMB overworld theme.

  • i like you ur vid

    dfsdzfsxzgxvsxzfdgvs

  • i like you ur vid

  • 47 MHz?!!!!!! This is more than GBA CPU!

  • Could have helped on them longgg pokemon journeys

  • @kiddkaos1 Thats how I get my pokemon to level 99 :D

  • GBC extreme over-clocking Thats just too fkin funny! just added you to my twitter account. i love your work. thanks for sharing!!

  • lol 8.338 mhz my calculator is faster than that!

  • so you just bypassed GBC's internal clock with the one generated on the FPGA?

  • so if it freezes at 23 gHz will it blow up at 100? o.O

  • @guiness1990 LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

  • lol this is epic

  • this is wat happens wen mario tweaks it!!!!

  • It would've been fun to hear the star song at hyper speed

  • My gameboy color has somehow got a fried chip after 7 years (I got it used. my first gameboy:)), and I can't bypass it. is there anyway I can get a really cheap motherboard to put in the old shell? it's the EXACT one in this video. color and everything.

  • @MagneticProductions1 or better yet.. you could buy a new gameboy :]

the used and barely scratched ones are getting sold on e-bay for less than £10. I got mine from there as i lost my old pokemon edition one and the one i got costed me £9.50 which had no scraches on it and came with super mario land free. so i'm happy :]

  • is there any wayyou could fit a rotary witch lik that to the actual gbc? this is what ive wanted to do for ages, as having a switch that you have to turn the console off to turn on is annoying :(

  • can you tell me what cartridge that was on 5:56 please cus it looked like more than tetris

  • mario on meth lol

  • lol

  • just amezing a gbc runs too slow in 4mhz whereass a gb game runs too fast in 8mhz,nes games runs too fast in 4 mhz on overclocked nes.

    haha lol.

imagine a gbc running on a old gb would even run more slower since the gb has less memory.

  • but it all-so briked at 47mhz not bad

  • lol so it bricks if you go over 23.7mhz, still not a bad overclock.

  • I sure wish I knew how to do this stuff. That's really cool!

  • Fake :P

  • I found it funny how you started moving/working faster as the game got faster. The human mind is a powerful thing. :P

    Anyways, nice shtuff.

  • @Andokool12 Nah, he just sped up the video, it was all a fake. ;)

  • @595o Ehm, no it isn't. This is possible, people do it all the time. If it really was fake, too, you would've noticed the rest of the video slow down severely when he slowed down the clock speed at 00:58

  • @Andokool12 I was joking.

  • @Andokook12 We're Sorry Your Account Has Expired. Please contact Your Youtube's Provider.

  • Mario are ever Faster

  • The Mushroom sound effect is... pretty cool at that speed.

  • Nice! I totally want that board, what's the max. frequency it can produce?

  • Mario on Crack :)

  • Sorry if this bothers you, but do you know a place where I can get one of these boards?

    Thanks.

  • @davem314 Just google "S3EBOARD" and you'll find the site :)

  • @marcan42 Wow! Thanks so much for the fast reply, I really appreciate it!

Thanks once again. Oh and do you know if this works with the gameboy pocket?

  • whered you get that

  • The external board is just to show the Mhz on the screen right? So it could work on just a crystal and potentiometer built into the GBC to adjust frequency?

  • The external board is just for the screen right? You could just build the crystal and a potentiometer into the gameboy and adjust it with everything built in... right?

  • On tetris, WE NEED MOAR POWER

  • In Soviet Russia, Gameboy overclock you!

  • Hombre, está increíble!

  • Is it wrong that the thing that most blows my mind was the super slowed down mushroom SFX?

  • What's funny is that my NES emulator on my DS Lite is overclocked when playing SMB by like 1MHz.

  • my first PC processor was 114MHz, I shit you not. xD

  • Very cool!! I want one of these boards now SO bad :)

  • Oh... My God, this must be why! I had an old Game Boy Advance, which one day I was playing Super Mario Bros. Deluxe on, and it randomly started going in slow motion. It freaked me out at first (I (still) hate sudden unexpected computer behavior), but I eventually started exploiting it (cycling road in 6 seconds in Pokemon Sapphire, hurr durr).

I don't have it anymore, but could this have been the reason it was doing that? It was underclocking itself?

  • how come the game speed increase when you overclock? i don't see my games speed up when i overclock my computer... only the OS speed up when i overlock....

  • @johnchen0213 because the Gameboy uses its main clock as its source of time, but your computer has a separate time source.

  • Great video. I don't suppose anyone would have the BIOS file from a GB or GBC to share with me? I can only find the Super Gameboy BIOS through Google...If anyone is willing to share, could you get in touch? Thanks.

  • i wish i could do that to my gameboy color but it's the teal one and there harder to find i guess =l

  • lolz.

  • 10:02- Marcan42 uses 6x OVERCLOCK! It's super effective!

  • what happens if u overclock it to 1 ghz ? xD

  • @gtr500able It would freeze, and then the console would explode. :(

  • man so thats what hapented when i played with it too long it keept going that ffast like 2x more xD

  • WTF!

  • Wow, is there ever a risk of overheating on that from going too high? ... Then again, the MHz even at the highest probably isn't enough to even warrant a burn on your finger if you touch it directly, correct?

  • @SappinSentry Increasing clockspeed only marginally increases heat output. This is not noticeable on a Gameboy, which is very low power to begin with. I doubt the CPU is getting noticeably warmer at all.

Increasing the voltage to push clockspeed higher could definitely do a lot of damage, but I'm not doing that here.

  • @marcan42 Wow, quick reply. :D Thank you for the answer. I always think about CPU heat because I have to keep such a sharp eye on my laptop's CPU temp due to the internal fan being busted... >_< (Was my fault, I banged it on too many corners)

And yeah, playing with electricity always is dangerous. O_O

  • @marcan42

The only limitation on clocks is probably battery power. The more voltage, the less time you can play.

  • @marcan42 thats because you changed the clock signal, changing the clock divider?, pleeeeeeease coud you explain the principle of this program, i want to get better developing with this things, ty

  • mod

  • i sense TAS time... :D

  • is that a fpga you linked into it? ooh never mind it says soo in the description :)

  • LOL !!!!

  • dude nice vid where do u get the flash cards and do they work for the orig

  • lol imagine a gameboy having a psps processor at 333 mhz

  • what was the second cart u used?

  • Funny test but Its not useful at all to oc the gbc btw we can do this too on the gbc emulator

  • this is for ûber elite tetris player where the 9th level just isn't enough :D
