these tutorials really help especially the mid game one because i did okay playoing on easy difficulty but when i raised it one level i kept falling behind other civs and they all kept denouncing me which makes trading a hell

So say you had built a city within range of that second incense, you wouldn't get the bonus it offers towards your overall happiness? It would just be more like a perk you can use to trade with other Civs?

Exactly! If you watch the mid-game tutorial (the follow-up to this game) I actually do just that. The tile still receives a bonus from having Incense (in this case, the tile generates more gold) but my empire only receives a Happiness bonus from a single instance of each luxury resource.
