My old office was the Gainesville Train Depot on Depot for years! They moved it now, but what a cool part of town. I am not surprised he wrote a song about it....makes sense. Gainesville is a great place for music and inspiration.

I spent my college career watch Mudcrutch play for free on campus for 3 years in between going to classes. Watching Mudcrutch was the highlight of my 4 years in Gainesville. Memorable performances were at Cin City Lounge, Halloween Ball, other Plaza of the Americas events, free Student Union Concerts, and oh yeah, once at the Gainesville Drive-In Movie theater. When I saw Mike Campbell play back in 1972, he blew me away and I knew he was a special player.

Depot Street is a street in Gainesville. I live right down the road from it. Great song. The street isn't what it was back then however.

Hey, thanks so much for the correction! I have this song as part of a box set and I was never sure which were played by Mudcrutch and which were by the Heartbreakers. I really appreciate the correction and I'm going to go fix it right now (I think other songs I've posted are also by Mudcrutch, and thus mislabeled, but I'll check into it and fix the others as necessary).
