My old office was the Gainesville Train Depot on Depot for years! They moved it now, but what a cool part of town. I am not surprised he wrote a song about it....makes sense. Gainesville is a great place for music and inspiration.
Thanks for posting Depot Street~ Just love this song, wish I had it on my ipod!! Awesome, also liked On the Street. Do you happen to have Wild Eyes. I would like to get that one too. I think that these songs should all get re-relased! They are GRRREAT
Oh my gosh! LOL! I have this 45!!! What a trip thanks for the memories...Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers are one of my all time favorite bands...I use to have a crush on Benmont Tench...and was lucky enough to meet him twice and Tom Petty once...Your channel is awesome I found it when I read your comment on my channel...Now I am going to see if you have the song "Stories We Can Tell"...Thanks!
I spent my college career watch Mudcrutch play for free on campus for 3 years in between going to classes. Watching Mudcrutch was the highlight of my 4 years in Gainesville. Memorable performances were at Cin City Lounge, Halloween Ball, other Plaza of the Americas events, free Student Union Concerts, and oh yeah, once at the Gainesville Drive-In Movie theater. When I saw Mike Campbell play back in 1972, he blew me away and I knew he was a special player.
so, petty played bass on this. wow, to handle these bitchin' bass lines and the vocals is something maybe only paul mccartney could pull off. good god this is awesome! have you tried singing and playing bass at the same time...? oh yeah, sting did that shit too. and nick lowe, and phil lynott, and geddy lee, and lemmy, haha. i'm drinkin' cheap beer and diggin' it. which is the best way to dig it. cheap whiskey don't dig it. good whiskey digs it as does good vodka. and cheap beer...
Hey, thanks so much for the correction! I have this song as part of a box set and I was never sure which were played by Mudcrutch and which were by the Heartbreakers. I really appreciate the correction and I'm going to go fix it right now (I think other songs I've posted are also by Mudcrutch, and thus mislabeled, but I'll check into it and fix the others as necessary). Thanks again!

This song sounds like it should have been sung by The Police....Tom seems to have a Sting thing going on here.

Listen to the drums. Reminds me of Keith Moon the way they fill in the spaces.

Playback was great. It was like 2 or 3 classic TP CDs released at once. Program your own record the way you like it.

I wish Mudcrutch would've included this song on last year's album, but I can understand completely why they did not.
