this looks surprisingly good. 'o' it's a shame it won't be posted. I'd love to see it. Although Mary Anne was the White Rabbit's servant/maid in Lewis Carroll's original book.
The costumes and set looks amazing! Great job on what looked like a fantastic production. I'm a theatre director at a high school in VT and we're doing a version of Alice in Wonderland in the spring...is there any chance I could get a recording of this performance on dvd somewhere?
Is there going to be another playing of this next year? I really want to see it but I don't know if I can considering I'm in the Wylie School District.
I watched a filmed version of the play in my theatre class (Rockwall Heath High). It was freakining amazing! One of the best plays I've ever seen, (after spring awakening) i regret not seeing it live when I had the opportunity! This video can barely capture how amazing it was! You guys did an amazing show.
to answer your questions about the mock turtle he was vanished or something like that by the Duchess. There is a line from Mr. White (which Frater, you should know) "You wouldn't want to end up like your friend the Mock Turtle would you?" i'm guessing he is locked up somewhere or off ebing a mindless toy of the Duchess.
Hey, Mr. Brandon Tijernia, if you ever want to create an "Alice in Wonderland" play that acts as a sequel to THIS play, I'm certainly available to help you write-if you're interested.
Even if Brandon Tijerina did have a youtube account. He wouldnt post here, one of his students posted this video. And i doubt there will be a sequal. Sorry man. And there isn't a king because wonderland is based off the game of chess.. the queen is the most powerful piece on the board. If you want a king... I might say that would be the role of Mr. White(not just saying that because i played that role.)
Also another piece of info for you.. Hatter and Mr. white are brothers. : ) our characters look nothing alike. Him with his short purple hair, and me with my loooooong white hair.
I suppose that by the time that Mary Anne has finished becoming the Queen of Hearts, the Mock Turtle decides that it's safe for him to return to Wonderland, and that allows him to come back just in time to meet Alice.
But how come there isn't a KING of Hearts in this play?
Because like with the Gryphon and Turtle and Duchess and Pig Baby, I can't imagine the Queen without the King.
First of all, thank you, chrisfrater, for answering my questions.
Secondly, this play seems very interesting and I wouldn't mind doing a production of it myself someday.
Third, it would really fun (in my opinion) if someday someone were to write a version of ALICE in Wonderland that acts as a sequel to this play.
Fourth, if you'll excuse me asking, where's the KING of Hearts in "Wonderland"? I would really like to see what sort of person he was before Mary Anne became the Queen.
I'm also wondering where the Mock Turtle is supposed to be (because I just can't imagine the Gryphon without him) and where the Pig Baby is supposed to be (because I can't imagine the Duchess without HIM.)
Fifth, I'm personally glad that Alice, during HER visit to Wonderland, avoids falling into the same traps that Mary Anne did (and in fact never quite learns what Wonderland is really like) and manages to return home after SHE becomes a queen.
Finally, in gratitude for answering my questions..
2)Hatter is actually insane and the duchess provides this potion to keep him sane. problem is... the duchess cant provide him the potion any more after mary anne locks her up.
3) That is incorrect.. The duchess was never in charge. And she knows she never will be. But the way she is in control is by whispering in the queens ears to do her bidding... Kind of like that guy from lord of the rings that has power in his words while he whispers to the king.
10. The duchess explains to mary anne that a pawn must be sacraficed in order for mary anne to become queen... Mary anne nods and agrees. You then see cheshire be brought in front of the crowd by the ace of spades, It is his execution.
11. Cheshire dies and mary anne becomes queen.. and as her first royal decree, she orders that ANY power that the duchess has over her lover the hatter, is no longer in effect.
Okay, this answers some questions but brings up some new ones:
1) The Cheshire Cat DIES? Then who is the Cat that Alice meets when SHE comes to Wonderland?
2) What causes Mary Anne and The Hatter to stop being lovers? (Because we all know that by the time of Alice's visit, the Hatter has become a criminal in the eyes of the Queen for "murdering the time" with his singing.)
3) The Duchess was pretty much the one in charge of Wonderland before Mary Anne
came along, right? But Mary Anne ends up taking her power away from her, right? (Because when Alice plays croquet with the Queen, the Duchess has even been put in prison for "boxing the Queen's ears", and she later flees from the Queen when the latter makes it clear that it's either that or "off with your head".)
3) What happens in the last scene when Alice shows up? (This is the scene that marks the end of Mary Anne's story and Alice's adventures, correct?
7. we find out that hatter has been working for the duchess the whole time. he was told to make mary anne fall in love with him so she would stay in wonderland forever.... remaining under the control of the duchess.
8. We then find out that tweedle dee and tweedle dum are in fact the previous two queens of wonderland that the duchess brainwashed into killing monsters.(she wants mary anne to have the same fate.)
9. Mary anne is at her coronation where she is to become queen.
Hello, This Is Mr. White(the white rabbit). I am proud to say i was in this play.. I'm the one with the looong white hair. I will be glad to answer any questions about wonderland.
This play clearly seems to be a tragedy (as well as being much darker in nature than the original "Alice" stories.)
It's tragic here because audiences witness the transformation of Mary Anne into the cruel Queen of Hearts, and because in the end she becomes trapped in Wonderland, never able to return to the real world.
It's also a tragedy because Mary Anne and Mad Hatter Jonathan are clearly shown by the trailer here to be falling in love, and yet it is also obvious that she ends up turning
upon him. (This is proved by the bit at the end of the trailer where the Card Guards are closing in on him, but also by the original book, where the Queen tries to have the Hatter's head chopped off for murdering the time.)
In the end, the only consolation that can be drawn here is that Alice, during HER visit to Wonderland, never falls into the same fate that befell Mary Anne, and even manages to stand up to the Queen and live to tell about it.
Johnathan/ Mad Hatter. Duchess. Mary Anne/ Queen of Hearts. Chesire. Caucus Racers. -Eaglett -Dodo -Duck -Mouse -Lori. Bill & Pat. Tweedle Dee and Dum. Mr. White. Card Guards. Ace of Spades. March & Dormy.Griffin. Frog Doorman Royal Dresser Flowers Hermit Pepper (Duchess' sister) Alice
Well that is the Royal Dresser she is talking to at 1:23.
And to answer the first one I know the hermit is that caterpillar. And i think the Royal Dresser is one of the Duchess's servants. It's sad that I dont know this when i was in the show. =D. And when one of my great friend was the Royal Dresser.
She must not make any rules when she becomes queen or she will be stuck in wonderland forever.
6.While mr.white and the duchess are training mary anne, Johnathan(hatter) and mary anne start to fall in love... In one scene... He hands her a white rose right before they share their first kiss.(which is why in "alice in wonderland" you see a scene of card guards painting the roses red.)
If you have seen Alice In Wonderland, Hermit is the caterpillar that gives good advice. "terrible smoker though. lol.
That chess monarch is actually the dresser that dresses mary anne into her finest queen clothes. The Dresser was actually in fact once a simple girl who wandered into wonderland, but the duchess made he dresser just another one of her slaves.
I had the honor of meeting many of the actors at Chili's last Monday. What an incredible group of young adults! I saw the show Friday night and again Sunday with a friend who has children at another high school. She was impressed, as was I! You all did an amazing job. Kudos to Mr. T for writing such a clever and creative script. You couldn't have chosen better performers for the parts!
A.D as Mary Anne did a great job. Makeup for the Ace of Spades was well done. Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum were disturbing and mesmerizing. The Duchess was well played and had a commanding voice. A.M as Gryphon, C.C. as March and S.R as Dormy....I have watched you 3 in many productions and you are always great. The rest of the cast and it was huge all added to the enjoyment. Well done all....Well done. I look forward to RENT.
I saw the show tonight and enjoyed it immensely it. The script was well written and interesting. The Mad Hatter was amazing, truly amazing and I am very proud of him (and I am not just saying that because he is my nephew; madness runs in the family so he was perfectly cast). The Cheshire Cat was great....as usual....though his costume brought back memories of Jennifer Beal in Flashdance.
This school just seems to have the best costumes. I'm immensly jealous.

If you do do this play, and your school films this, could you maybe (if possible) post the film version of it onto YouTube?
Please?
If it's not too much trouble, that is...
mtigers1981 3 years ago
I can try.
I'm sure I'll figure something out.
A few issues though.
1. We haven't gotten permission yet
2. It's for one-acts, so the play will be cut
3. I go to an all female school so the show will be a bit strange(r)

Thank you for answering my question.
Alice only shows at the end of the play, right?
But who's the "Hermit"?
And who's that Chess Monarch Mary Anne is talking to?
mtigers1981 3 years ago
Yep. The hermit's someone the Hatter goes to to 'make a decision'. The Chess Monarch's just a servant of sorts.
Setrius 3 years ago
But is the Chess Monarch the Red Queen or the White Queen?
And are the Hermit and Royal Dresser characters we should under other names from the original book?
mtigers1981 3 years ago

mtigers1981 3 years ago
Hermit was the Hermit and the Royal Dresser went by the Royal Dresser. And by Chess Monarch do you mean the Gryphon?
StewySter4 3 years ago
Let me rephrase my questions here.
1) What characters from the original books are the Hermit and Royal Dresser based on?
2) By the Chess Monarch I mean the person Mary Anne is talking to at 1:23. Is that person the Red Queen or White Queen?
mtigers1981 3 years ago
Well that is the Royal Dresser she is talking to at 1:23.
And to answer the first one I know the hermit is that caterpillar. And i think the Royal Dresser is one of the Duchess's servants. It's sad that I dont know this when i was in the show. =D. And when one of my great friend was the Royal Dresser.
StewySter4 3 years ago
I have just three more questions for you. (Last ones, I promise!)
1) Who's the stuffy-looking guy at 0:48?
2) Who's coming out of the crate at 1:42?
3) Could you maybe tell me (in as much detail as possible) what the sequence of scenes are in this play, and what happens in these scenes?
mtigers1981 3 years ago
1.) Frog Doorman.
2.) TweedleDee
3.) Well that could take some time I don't have at the moment. I'll try to later if possible.
StewySter4 3 years ago
Alright, there's no rush. Post the plot up when you're ready.
mtigers1981 3 years ago
I can give you the sequence of scenes migers1981.
1. mary anne runs away to prove shes an adult to her mother
2. Mary anne wanders into wonderland
3. She wans to return home, so Hatter takes her to the duchess because the duchess is the only one who can help her return home.
4. Cheshire "promises on pain of death" he will see that mary anne returns home.
5. The duchess explains that the only way to return home is to become a queen. But when she becomes queen, she must go STRAIGHT home.
chrisfrater 3 years ago
She must not make any rules when she becomes queen or she will be stuck in wonderland forever.
6.While mr.white and the duchess are training mary anne, Johnathan(hatter) and mary anne start to fall in love... In one scene... He hands her a white rose right before they share their first kiss.(which is why in "alice in wonderland" you see a scene of card guards painting the roses red.)
