This is the disk version of the game. And yes it sounds a lot better on the c64. The gameplay is identical though. Same for Bruce Lee and Zorro, which are also awesome games.
Great game, great movie and awesome music. The game was hard, but the good tune at the beginning had something that I always came back and tryed to beat the game..... again ... and again .... and again :)
This sound good no matter what it's played on, but then the Atari was a great computer for it's time. I made a SID like version of this, on The Mod Archive, I'm registered there as "the music wizard", you should be able to find it (excuse my profile pic, I'll probably change it sometime) :P
Wow... I used to play Goonies 2 all the time as a kid and this music was in there.... Man, When I heard this.. I know it sounds gay... but I got emotional and happy... It brought back the crazy cool memories. Thanks for posting... Awesome to hear the classes Midi Songs.
im shocked to see atari released a game?i had goonies 2 on nes when i was a kid but thought that was the only one?was just checking out the theme tune to all formats, theyre all great.i love monophonics
@GamesEmotions At least the C64 version had different main themes in tape and disk releases. The one in the disk release was similar to the one in this video (based on "The Goonies 'R' Good Enough" theme) while the main theme in the tape release wasn't necessarily based on the movie soundtrack at all (I have neither seen the movie nor listened to the soundtrack, so I cannot tell). It may be that the Atari version had similar situation. That could explain why bandidomus had different music.
@bandidomus I only say that I OWN an Atari 800 XL and I heard another DIFFERENT music when I played this game. I am sure about that. Maybe damocles is right because I think that it was the cassette version.

I really liked this game back in the good old days.
On atari and c64.

This is not the music of the game for the 800 XL. At least my computer gives another melody. I remember it quite well because it was lovely.
bandidomus 3 years ago
This IS the original Atari 800 XL, I ripped the music directly from the game :)

The music is oryginal. Tape version has a little different music. THIS is from diskette version of game.

@bandidomus It's the original music from Atari 800 XL. I still have my Atari at home and it sounds identical :)

@bandidomus It IS absolutely the melody, from the Atari 800/XL. I had it. Great game btw too!

And for Atari? Good music for back then.

Did you leave Nintendo's name out of the tags on purpose?
FlamingBat 3 years ago
This is the Atari version.
ehrenzoner 3 years ago
I know. Look at the rest of the tags though. What does this have to do with ps2, psx, ps1, xbox, or sega?
Granted, a Goonies video game was also made for Commodore 64, but so was one for NES.
FlamingBat 3 years ago
Just so it attracts people who are interested in computers and games.
Davidbensonxyz 3 years ago
But not Nintendo because Nintendo sucks and is the epitome of all that is evil, right?!!
FlamingBat 3 years ago
No, that's Microsoft
SexxyMessiah 2 years ago
this is seriously a top ten atari game... true to the movie down to the smallest detail and very challanging.
the nintendo version is a friggin joke,
doesn't even have anything to do with the movie.
