My boyfriend is 28 years old an still has all his ghostbuster stuff from the 80s he says these cartoons will never get old an he will never stop watching them let alone give up his ghostbuster stuff. Trust me he has everything from the old ghostbuster toys
What I don't get it what made Peter become so nice to Slimer when in the earlier years he was always picking on him and everything. Lorenzo's Peter would have tried to blast Slimer for sleeping in his bed whilst Dave's Peter is very laid back. I don't have a problem with either but ever since the voice change, Peter's treated Slimer like a real friend.
i don't see what the deal is. I like both Lorenzo's AND Coulier's voice acting on Peter. I mean we should be happy that "The Real Ghostbusters / Slimer & the Real Ghostbusters" were able to make 6 season back in the day, and not be so nit picky.
Aleck's the kind of sick brat who you hope ends up getting killed or trapped in some horrible dimension at the end of the episode.
Of course you know that that's not going to happen...and that he's going to end up "reforming" and the end of the episode ("I'm sorry. I didn't know what I was doing. I'll be good from now on..."blah blah blah), be forgiven, hugs and kisses all around...ect.
The darkest episode of the whole series. The TV broadcasting company that firstly ran this series in Mexico didn't aired this episode. I watched the episode for the first time when the other broadcasting company re-ran the series years later.
@TheGreaterGood80 well. I wasn't scared by the Boogeyman. There were other episodes that were scary, like the one with the vampires in Lupus Ville or something.
I think a lot of you are being way too harsh on Dave Coulier. Just because he doesn't seem to be the Peter you liked at the begginning doesn't mean you should bang on about how useless he is. In fact, Bill Murray himself said that Dave's portrayal was more accurate than Lorenzo Music's, including the voice similarities. Lorenzo kind of overdid the wisecracks and sarcasm and Peter isn't that pushy and comical. Lorenzo was okay but he sounds like he still stuck to Garfield. Give Dave more credit.
@perfume1965 Why? Because the "new" Peter is FLAT. Prior to changes, every one of the ghostbusters had something specific, something characteristic and so typical that you could identify each character with. Peter used to be overly sarcastic and annoying to some but that is what made his character unique, interesting and intriguing. After the changes were made, Peter was sort of "flattened out" and became a nothing-special character.
@perfume1965 I will NEVER give Coulier any credit!! He made Peter sound DUMB. Lorenzo was fantastic as Peter. His sarcastic portayal made Venkman hilarious, which is what a character for kids should be. NOT tht stupid dumb sounding Coulier. In fact, I hate his voice so much I'm currently redubbing some of the Coulier episodes with Lorenzo Musics voice. I will upload them to my channel as soon as I have them done.
This episode is absolutely terrifying with the knowledge - according to the series writers - that the Grundel was a conscious allegory for a pedophile.
"Jabberwocky" is a poem of nonsense verse written by Lewis Carroll, originally featured as a part of his novel Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There (1872). It is considered by many to be one of the greatest nonsense poems written in the English language.
This character was to many viewers appeared to be a possible Child Molester and there could be truth in that. His dialouge could often be related to a pedophile or child molester. Lines such as "Come out and play child", or "So fresh, so pure, but not for long", and "Open the window, we'll go away. Far from all the adults" can all be easily interpreted towards the subject.
hahah did anyone notice the "animation oops" at 1:15 - 1:16 where Ray and Peter are both wearin the movie version jumpsuits? no matter i still like it! this was the best 1980s cartoon next to Super Powers Team and Transformers.
it is hinted that the grundel just got a kid. Well there was a sequel to this episode in the extreme ghostbusters series. It turns out that the girl in that show's friend was the one that this grundel just changed and she would have succumbed too but she ran away. and her friend now a grundel was put into hibernation and was awakened by the extreme ghostbusters. hmm I wonder if it's on I'll look.
I remember seeing this when I was a kid. Looking at it now, I can see where the controversy came in. The theme of the corruption of the youth is such a frightening one. And the Grudnel definitely seems sinister and even perverted in its obsession with children.
Hey guys. Google "Jabberwocky wiki" and you'll get a picture that they used to draw for the cartoon! Pretty good adaptation! :D I always wiki the weird monsters on this show. I like myths and junk. :)
I really don't Peter Venkman's voice by Dave Coulier,it sounds like he's really trying hard to sound like the original voice of Peter by Lorenzo Music.
to cloop77, Dave Coulier is not trying to imiate Lorenzo Music. He's creating it in his own style and actually he sounds more like Bill Murray than Lorenzo did.
He actually has the sarcasm, egotisitcal portrayal of Peter along with the soundalike voice talent. Billy didn't like Lorenzo because he claimed that he made a fool of his charcater and sounded nothing like him.
I prefer Dave and I do not know why people disapprove him just because he's not Lorenzo Music.
This is one of the darkest of the RGB episodes, and used to really give me the creeps because it reminded me of a local news story around that time of a little boy was lured out of his first-floor bedroom window by a stranger who tapped on his window and calmly told him to come with him. He was never seen again. His kid sister shared the bedroom and had seen it happen. I still feel uncomfortable watching this episode because of that.
Yes, but it happened when I lived in Cincinnati, back in 1985. I don't remember all the details, as it was almost a quarter-century ago, but what I do recall is that the police thought the strange man may have been stalking that boy for some time, or that the boy may have known the man to some degree. The sister said the man came to the window, gently tapped on it, and calmly told the boy to come with him. They were never seen again. It still bothers me to think about how awful that was.
Yep, He was toned down though for obvious reasons. They carried him over into the next series because they wanted to give him a second episode in this series like the other major villians but they got too many angry letters and phone calls about the Grundel that they couldn't without getting sued for it.
What about Samhein? He got a second episode 2 seasons after His first episode, In rank He was like the 3rd most Freighting villian in the show, 2nd was the Boogieman and In 1st place was the Grundel. When the Samhein episode came on there were no angry calls and letters to the makers but when The Grundel Episode came on they thought that a lot of their veiwers parents were going to take up law suit cases with the show. That's the difference.
I too strombolt, I become very sentimental about shows like this ones, takes me back to my inoccent age!!! I loved getting up early on saturday morning to watch shows like this all morning long with some cereal the frog or the puma or coco crisp and milk and juice and I'll be happy as I can be.
I spent most of my time homeless or in bad homes as a child. I love getting to see this stuff. Not that you looked like you really meant it, but I don't think you can be too old to enjoy anything.
That said, how come it used to be called a Jabberwock and now it's a JabberrockY? I wonder why they pronounced it that way. I also love how this episode crosses over with Extreme Ghostbusters later on in the sequel episode 'Grundelesque.'
@Gamez1985 Yeah I concur completely with you; it was more of a cliche joke of adults watching cartoons than anything else (I have nothing against it myself, clearly, as I watched many of these episodes and quite a few other cartoons (in fact I watched Disney's Robin Hood the other day just so I could wash the taint of the latest Robin Hood movie from my brain =P))
And it's certainly never to late to relive your lost childhood. I know that's what I'm doing ^.^
Agreed. This is one of the few episodes of Ghostbusters that I remember as a kid genuinely scared the hell out of me. Man, if only we could go back in time. :)
The Jaberwocky was written for Alice through the Looking Glass, although carol had Written the first verse as a kid to amuse his family(got this info from the More Annotated Alice) It's one of the most famous examples of nonsense verse and one of my favorite poems (I can recite it in my sleep)I am a large fan of all things alice in wonderland
Man I love all these wicked literary references. The best thing I love about this series is how both little kids and grown adults can enjoy it for these very reasons.
thanks for uploading these, I loved this cartoon as a kid, had loads of toy figures and backpacks and stuff :P , does anyone know what episode is where theyre in a lift fighting ghosts? and if its on youtube? and also the one where they go through a hole and one of theyre hair comes out white,
I think the grundel is a morality tale for children,it shows the line between right & wrong. Its telling kids not to steal & hurt people, other wise you will have to answer for what you did. Also its telling kids not to get involved with the wrong crowd & the danger it can pose if you do.
Where's Kylie??? She mentioned seeing a Grundel in XGB.

woollybully100 3 years ago
'The Jabberwocky' is a poem about a monster and a boy that kills it.
jericaburgette 3 years ago
is it a famous poem?
woollybully100 3 years ago
It's in Trough the Looking Glass, the second Alice in Wonderland book. It may predate that. I'm not sure.

No Kidding He does sound Like Gozer, No suprise there those since the Grundel pretty Much is the Lord Of Evil in this Series.
Nightshift10000 3 years ago
That's no coincidance, the Grundel is basically a mixture of the devil and a pedophile.

I think the grundel is a morality tale for children,it shows the line between right & wrong. Its telling kids not to steal & hurt people, other wise you will have to answer for what you did. Also its telling kids not to get involved with the wrong crowd & the danger it can pose if you do.
