Considering I can name a few off the top of my head, I think there are many Marth mains who have taken their characters this far. M2K, Azen, Taj, PC Chris, etc. Hell, all of them (including Ken) have taken their characters much farther than this since this match took place in 2006. Marth and every other character in melee has gone through a lot of development to get to the current metagame.

If your willing to link me to video of anyone of those marth players you listed showing me otherwise. that's definitely for sure but i mean in terms of predicting the counter and using it as a mindgame ken, m2k, and maybe taj are the only ones to compeltely master it. but yea all of those people have increased their metagame greatly

Oi, Saturi. I understand that we're talking about Ken's counter game, but if that was all he had, he would be nowhere. A good video for you to watch is ken(marth) vs aniki(link) 3. Ironically, this takes place around the same time as when Ken was a "master" at countering. Watch how the first stock ends and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Ken is hit up in the air and ends up right above Aniki. He decides to counter in order to avoid another u-air. Aniki waits and d-airs him right after the counter ends. Counters are good if the opponent isn't expecting it. PC Chris obviously thought that Ken would stop using it after each time due to how risky it is. Getting 3 stocked also means that he wasn't playing very well in this match (as good as he is).

Therefore, those masterful counters are just because PC isn't thinking clearly and taking advantage of them. I know I've seen other Marth mains use the counter just as well. Just look at any high profile video and they'll use it effectively. Anyways, I think my point has been proven.

Counter isn't that good. It deals 7% damage. With a reach like Marth, if you have the opportunity to counter then you probably had the opportunity to use another attack which would hit for more damage. It's ok as an edge guard though.
