I love the Phantom's distorted voice, how creepy! This is what RHPS wishes it could have been, as a movie. The music in RHPS is the only reason to pay attention to it at all.

@KamenRiderNecro To say that is to disregard Tim Curry in a seminal and fantastic role, and he is a model of sexual freedom in it, not to mention Richard O'Brien's fabulous contribution to the "rock opera" motif. Too many people think that these 2 wonderful films are connected or riff off each other, but; Rocky was an Off-Broadway show in June of 1973, Phantom was in *production* in December of 1973, so in fact Rocky was FIRST, also POTP is FAUST driven, RHPS is SEX driven. You savvy Faust?

Saw this movie when I was 12 and instantly thought it was an amazing piece of cinema eye candy.  Loved the music and the lead characters. Nothing can be compared to this cult-like film. I bought the well-used VHS tape from a rental outlet when they dumped video tape for DVD format. It will be stored in a bricked-in vault as a time capsule (LOL).

Sadly, this versionof the trailer isn't included on the DVD in America. When I saw the trailer on the DVD I own, the trailer looked more like a selection of scenes that were spliced together to a 3 minute length.

The song is called 'Special To Me (Phoenix Audition Song)' I believe you can buy the soundtrack still in most record stores. If not, try Amazon. The soundtrack is awesome...it's Paul Williams.

Yup, I can't believe it's the same Paul Williams who also wrote the songs Rainy Days and Mondays, The Rainbow Connection, and Barbara Streisand's "Evergreen" (which he won an oscar for.)
