I watched this video, it seems to be that my android cell connected to my laptop via tethering, is even a lot faster than this BS clear service. That is the same thing that happened to me. It was fine till I got Netflix and started to watch a couple of videos. Then my speed went from 5Mbps to .045Mbps. So I called them and they said I was a heavy user and it was not fair to the other people on my tower. I said its supposed to be unlimited. Then they said can you connect, I said yes and they said well your still using it so it is unlimited. But the speed is only .045Mbps. False advertisement
@rjeter47 man that sucks. i hate them so much. they get you in the tos where it says they can reduce speed when ever they feel the need. there should be a class action suit because just because it seems all legal there is also the layout of a contract and feel of it that can be put against them. meaning if they make it seem great and grand but hide somewhere in small print that it isnt that the life or feel of the contract can be voided. but who has the money to get the lawyers.

OMG Clear is the worse effin internet I have seen in my life...THey told me that I will be able to play playstation 3 on it and have good working internet...I got that crap and as soon as I hooked it up to the ps3 it booted me off.... I boxed that crap up so fast and got my refund for the service right away...They didn't give my refund back for the equipment until I called them like 2 weeks later...Those crooks and they need to drink bleach" All of them"

@KaminasAniki i am on comcast. sure it cost more but it is reliable. you will have to do a search of providers for your area. there are a lot out there. dsl isnt bad if you have good phone lines.

@KaminasAniki i think i am on a 12 or 15 speed.i just tested it and it was at 21.38 on speedtest. net that may be on powerboost not sure. anyhow i believe i pay about 60 a month that is including the modem fee. i could have century link for the same price and would include phone unlimited but my phone lines that come from the poll to my house are really crap and i dont want to pay to have them fixed.
@KaminasAniki dont switch just yet. i am going to be ordering from centurylink (formaly Qwest) i just paid my bill for comcast and there was some really screwed up charges on it. first off i had tv and i canceled it. they charged me 12 bucks to downgrade service and then they are also charging more for modem rental and over all service now. so now i pay over 70 bucks a month i dont think so. with century link i can get 40mbs and unlimited phone for the same price.

my speeds were good for 2 days then it was extremely slow and a month later i lost connection completely for almost a week and that happened a few times so yeah im done with them
I was doing research about Clear to see if I could watch Netflix without all the slow streaming I was getting with my excellent 15/20 mbps from my wireless TW router.
I have seen many video and web comments that are similar to the ones here. Two in-laws were over Xmas eve as I was setting up a Roku 2 xd Xmas present. They're both are very computer savvy The Netflix as usual was bogging and just dropped out, SNAFU. G/father whips out his mobile Clear device and everything worked perfect. ???????
@shadowman1952 as a lot of people are saying if you dont use the service much meaning you use it mainly to read email, news, surf then clear is just fine and you can use it for a movie once in a great while. but if you are a normal person and want to watch a movie at least once a night they will cap you. that is the whole problem is the capping.
i believe what u said, because i pay $50/month for it. the speed is fast as 4-6m at first week, but the speed just cut off as 1m after first week. i bought the modem for $86, i don't know what should i do. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this stuff is shit!!! mine would always break and they would say oh its because you pushed in your charger too hard, every device does that... I think the same thing has happened to me that happened to you. It might be fine if you're a grandma who checks email once a week, but if you want to download a large file, watch videos -- you'll quickly find that they throttle your connection down to .2 - .5 mbps and brand you a "high volume user."
to be honest i don't have a problem with my clear service, videos are fine for me, downloading is fine for me, still fast for download and internet. only time the clear goes out is when its a super rain storm outside my home and its in and out for the duration of the storm but other than that its fine for me. my clear stuff is built into my laptop so i didn't have to do any setup or anything really it was just there. i've had it for almost a year now and its still working.
My ping 127 .. dl speed .15 upld speed 1.01.. It was fairly fast the first 30 days, I got it because I travel and can take this but soon as the 30 days was up the jackasses capped me and now we can't watch movies and videos take forever as they rebuffer. Going to call them tomorrow tell them to shove it. Wish I would've looked into it before getting it..but I was using a verizon aircard and it charges out the nose when you go over.. so I was looking at the money difference. lol
Yes, Clearwire sucks and it is only going to get worse because they keep getting rid of their employees. Clearwire as a company knows it sucks and that is why they get you to sign a contract with an early termination fee. So they get their money from you, no matter what. They are also trying to merge with a more successful company to try to make their bogus ass company profitable and stable. It really is only good for occasional web browsing and email. Not good.
@Truthrevealed21 for those that got in, we are paying $29.99 for unlimited usage however if you cancel that service you won't be able to get it back LOL. I'm already beyond my contract so I pay month to month. It works just fine for browsing the web and paying your bills and checking your e-mail. You can also stream just fine every now and then on You Tube. It sucks for online gaming however I only needed the basics and that is what ClearWire is good for.
@Truthrevealed21 as far as my bills go, no gimmicks. Just straight rate, rental charge (fucked up there ever renting the equipment), and the tax. Comes out to $35 and change/mo. However can't beat unlimited usage.

@sunshine26081 i believe i kept it for about 4 to six month. and as you can see in the video i actually took it outside so that nothing would be possible in the way. one of the reps admitted that the system caped me even though he said i really didnt use it much. when i didnt use it for a month it would go up in speed. then i would watch videos and with in 3 days it would go right back down. my tower was with in 1/4 away. its not the coverage its the system capping. that is the issue
These people are thieves, luckily, they cut me down to the same .25mbps before my 1 month was over and i was able to cancel. I should have realized this when the salesmen was a pro on how to cancel if I didn't like the service. Except he told me there would be no charge for me to cancel. Now i keep getting calls from clear saying I need to pay a cancellation fee. I really feel a class action lawsuit is needed so they can't be allowed to keep this up.
I think in their fine print on the contract it says that Clearwire is only for occasional web browsing and email. Clearwire has always sucked from the start up. They were never going to be as good as cable internet, that is why they get people to sign a contract with an early termination fee. Someone should sue their asses because they really don't deliver. They are looking to get someone to bail their sorry ass company out. I think Sprint will be taking them over soon..
save the notepad to your desktop and name it CleanClear.bat, then click it and run it on your desktop, once it Opens and closes (took a few seconds for me) then then unplug the modem and restart your computer, then wait untill its booted again to plug the modem back in. once you are online again, do a speed test and check if your speeds are faster.
True shit, these mofo are throttling me now. I contacted them and they kept saying the same shit. I'm getting 0.39 down. Clear is lucky that they are unlimited and they don't really have any challenger yet. I'm not really sure if its them, I think its the tower.
@Clear4GPromo You can reset your modem and that will sometimes help. But after the 4th call to them the rep finally told me that because of my heavy usage they caped me. He then went on to say if i used very little of the service for a month they would put it back up. What good is a service if you cant really use it. I also find T-mobile, Verizon and AT&T a better choice for wireless internet.

@fuyingbro in your case, its not your fault. if someone else in your tower area decides to download a few movies off of BitTorrent or something like that, Clear "balances out" their internet speed by capping people that have barely used any data at all. its unfortunate; they have a good idea with the totally wireless internet, however, they need to get their shit together first.

@8swordedninja yea i like comcast. although their modem can be touchy when connecting to some routers and you will have to activate the connection with a main computer first then connect the router. actually i haven't had to do that in a year so maybe they fix that connection protocol. in any case you will be happy with comcast and their customer care is good too
Well, there is officially no hope. They cap you? I have not heard of this. I live in Richland, WA. Here, clear is using the same tower that Att uses so they basically free ride. Too cheap to buy there own tower. Whats worse is that the tower is located miles outside of town....Richland is also surround by two other cities, so it is a fairly large region. And i live in a dead zone so wireless anything has problems. Unfortuntaly, my dad thinks clear is great cuz its cheaper than cable......

It was the capping me to .24 that pissed me off when I am not a heavy user. If I wanted something just to check emails and stuff I would just use my cell phone.

I personally disagree i have clear which use to be clearwire back when it got started but that all changed when sprint,google,intel,timewarner,comcast and bright house networks invested over $3.8 billion. the most recent updates were done january 1st doubling they're coverage area. i get speeds anywhere from 6mbps to 14mbps and this is with the $45 plan which gives you unlimited speeds and usage as oppose to the $35 plan which only gives you up to 1.5mbps and unlimited usage it all depends how

I was Internet hunting and ( I actually was using the full version if each Internet service) but Rogers and bell had the best download speed of just under 15.00 Mbps which was both of their 60 gb packages

when i called they said there may be a problem with the tower (sure) and some times the modem wont work at all i feel bad about my boss being stuck with this but i am happy i know ahead of time not to get it

I had cleawire and it's a fucking joke. Over half the time I had a ping of over 500 and seeing a ping of 999 was surprising to me. They kepted saying I had a virus. So i test it on other computers and even a PS3 and still the same thing! I only kept using them because I was under a 1 year contract. I'm so lucky I didn't choose the 2 year. So after many months, they admitted the problem was theres, but they still wouldn't cancel my subscription! They said it would take a few months to fix...

Clearwire and Clear or two different providers.... google it. I have Clear it's good just when it rains it may go out for 20 or 30 min. I live in the DFW area and stay a second away from a tower and other hotspots.... so it's great cheap, and I am not on a 2 yr contract.
mine did that for the first month and i was ok with it because i was made aware of heavy trafic. but when i found out that they capped me from the rep thats when the crap hit the fan. the rep even said they dont know why they capped me since i didnt really use anything. yet the rep still could not do anything about it. its still a good company to go with to just get mail while your out and about. although i have not tried tmobiles 4g network

@GerroxJr1 i tested the service on 6 computers. with and with out norton. with and with out mcafee. and with out anything at all. i also tried it on win 7 64 and 32. and vista 64 and xp. so yea it was clear wire not my end. oh and my friend tried it on his macbook pro and no good. so try again.

@KaminasAniki i think i am on a 12 or 15 speed.i just tested it and it was at 21.38 on speedtest. net that may be on powerboost not sure. anyhow i believe i pay about 60 a month that is including the modem fee. i could have century link for the same price and would include phone unlimited but my phone lines that come from the poll to my house are really crap and i dont want to pay to have them fixed.

@KaminasAniki dont switch just yet. i am going to be ordering from centurylink (formaly Qwest) i just paid my bill for comcast and there was some really screwed up charges on it. first off i had tv and i canceled it. they charged me 12 bucks to downgrade service and then they are also charging more for modem rental and over all service now. so now i pay over 70 bucks a month i dont think so. with century link i can get 40mbs and unlimited phone for the same price.

I was doing research about Clear to see if I could watch Netflix without all the slow streaming I was getting with my excellent 15/20 mbps from my wireless TW router.
I have seen many video and web comments that are similar to the ones here. Two in-laws were over Xmas eve as I was setting up a Roku 2 xd Xmas present. They're both are very computer savvy The Netflix as usual was bogging and just dropped out, SNAFU. G/father whips out his mobile Clear device and everything worked perfect. ???????

to be honest i don't have a problem with my clear service, videos are fine for me, downloading is fine for me, still fast for download and internet. only time the clear goes out is when its a super rain storm outside my home and its in and out for the duration of the storm but other than that its fine for me. my clear stuff is built into my laptop so i didn't have to do any setup or anything really it was just there. i've had it for almost a year now and its still working.

It was fairly fast the first 30 days, I got it because I travel and can take this but soon as the 30 days was up the jackasses capped me and now we can't watch movies and videos take forever as they rebuffer. Going to call them tomorrow tell them to shove it. Wish I would've looked into it before getting it..but I was using a verizon aircard and it charges out the nose when you go over.. so I was looking at the money difference. lol

Yes, Clearwire sucks and it is only going to get worse because they keep getting rid of their employees. Clearwire as a company knows it sucks and that is why they get you to sign a contract with an early termination fee. So they get their money from you, no matter what. They are also trying to merge with a more successful company to try to make their bogus ass company profitable and stable. It really is only good for occasional web browsing and email. Not good.

I'm already beyond my contract so I pay month to month. It works just fine for browsing the web and paying your bills and checking your e-mail. You can also stream just fine every now and then on You Tube. It sucks for online gaming however I only needed the basics and that is what ClearWire is good for.

@sunshine26081 i believe i kept it for about 4 to six month. and as you can see in the video i actually took it outside so that nothing would be possible in the way. one of the reps admitted that the system caped me even though he said i really didnt use it much. when i didnt use it for a month it would go up in speed. then i would watch videos and with in 3 days it would go right back down. my tower was with in 1/4 away. its not the coverage its the system capping. that is the issue

These people are thieves, luckily, they cut me down to the same .25mbps before my 1 month was over and i was able to cancel. I should have realized this when the salesmen was a pro on how to cancel if I didn't like the service. Except he told me there would be no charge for me to cancel. Now i keep getting calls from clear saying I need to pay a cancellation fee. I really feel a class action lawsuit is needed so they can't be allowed to keep this up.

I think in their fine print on the contract it says that Clearwire is only for occasional web browsing and email. Clearwire has always sucked from the start up. save the notepad to your desktop and name it CleanClear.bat, then click it and run it on your desktop, once it Opens and closes (took a few seconds for me) then then unplug the modem and restart your computer, then wait untill its booted again to plug the modem back in. once you are online again, do a speed test and check if your speeds are faster.

He then went on to say if i used very little of the service for a month they would put it back up. What good is a service if you cant really use it. I also find T-mobile, Verizon and AT&T a better choice for wireless internet.

Well, there is officially no hope. They cap you? I have not heard of this. I live in Richland, WA. Here, clear is using the same tower that Att uses so they basically free ride. Too cheap to buy there own tower. Whats worse is that the tower is located miles outside of town....Richland is also surround by two other cities, so it is a fairly large region. And i live in a dead zone so wireless anything has problems. Unfortuntaly, my dad thinks clear is great cuz its cheaper than cable......

I personally disagree i have clear which use to be clearwire back when it got started but that all changed when sprint,google,intel,timewarner,comcast and bright house networks invested over $3.8 billion. the most recent updates were done january 1st doubling they're coverage area. i get speeds anywhere from 6mbps to 14mbps and this is with the $45 plan which gives you unlimited speeds and usage as oppose to the $35 plan which only gives you up to 1.5mbps and unlimited usage it all depends how

I had cleawire and it's a fucking joke. Over half the time I had a ping of over 500 and seeing a ping of 999 was surprising to me. They kepted saying I had a virus. So i test it on other computers and even a PS3 and still the same thing! I only kept using them because I was under a 1 year contract. I'm so lucky I didn't choose the 2 year. So after many months, they admitted the problem was theres, but they still wouldn't cancel my subscription! They said it would take a few months to fix...

mine did that for the first month and i was ok with it because i was made aware of heavy trafic. but when i found out that they capped me from the rep thats when the crap hit the fan. the rep even said they dont know why they capped me since i didnt really use anything. yet the rep still could not do anything about it. its still a good company to go with to just get mail while your out and about. although i have not tried tmobiles 4g network

why the hell would you use NORTON Security????? that is the bottom of the barrel security go get something that hasnt been hacked into by every other hacker in the country......i used norton and got viruses, guess what MY BANDWIDTH WENT DOWN TOO.....i cleaned my computer im back up to 5-6mps

@GerroxJr1 i tested the service on 6 computers. with and with out norton. with and with out mcafee. and with out anything at all. i also tried it on win 7 64 and 32. and vista 64 and xp. so yea it was clear wire not my end. oh and my friend tried it on his macbook pro and no good. so try again.

Try Clears new Customer NO Service.
I had a Truck Roll, that means a guy in a truck came by and he didn't do anything. Said double pain glass and trees are the reason for my bad service.
Is there anywhere on earth where there aren't trees? How about a house built in the last 40 years that doesn't have double pane windows?
Clear-ly it was a bad choice to buy this modem.
I live in Charlotte NC, Here the other Internet companies are so bad You can't even contact them. It's impossible. I'm stuck
