One thing I like about Star Ocean is that they are using huge numbers for damage.

Pretty good fight. First time I fought her I used roger (Hp tank) maria for energy burst and albel because idk why lol. Watching this vid makes me want to do it all over with a different party.

@Fistmaster049 you might have found out by now but first you need to complete the main game, defeat Gabrielle Celeste in the Maze of Tribulations, traverse to the top of Sphere 211 and defeat Lenneth and The Etherial Queen; she will then drop the Orb which will summon Freya at the Urssa Lava Caves where you previously fought Crossell (and then later Albel if you recruite him as your 7th party member) be warned though: like the video depicts: shes in a whole different league then the other bosses

lol Somehow I don't think I'll ever be able to beat Freya. I've never been one to fight Super Bosses and win.

Doesn't mean I wouldn't give it a shot but it'd take a helluva lot of work that could take years to prepare for. xD

If you change your guys attack mode (the one where you defense is cut in half) to the other one, this battle will be a breeze, especially if you upgraded your guys's defense. I figured that out after losing a few times in the other mode.

Ether strike is the most unfair attack in a winnable fight ever, no exceptions.

Okay a great combo for Sophia is Laser Beams and Thunder Flare cancel...try it out it makes it easier and yeah funny cause almost everyone uses the same strategy, interrupting Freya's attack.

In all my years of gaming, this boss was the hardest battle I have ever fought. I used lvl 255 Fayt, Maria, and Sophia. I spent 2 weeks stocking up on stun bombs and invincibility potions to fight her, and it took me about half an hour to fight her.

Why can she make so she kills you in ONE HIT?!!!! I don't have this game but it looks like the toughest boss EVER! Who makes a game so hard? She is much worst then Ninetails from Megaman Command Mission!

It kills you in one hit but you can interrupt it at any time with a damaging item.

It's still super cheap, but at least not unstoppable.

Yea she is very hard, thats why you either gotta keep on her and dont let up, or wittle her down carefully.

i also had this thing on that made my mp take damage instead of my life. i hade waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa­aaaaayyyy more mp than hp and your mp takes less damage than hp.

this is so freakin hard. man i fought her by myself not to be tough or anything but because i found it difficult to keep my friends alive and i was really good dodging her moves i fought her like 30 times. i had one person doing magic way in the back while i fought up front by myself took me like 2 hours lol

hmmmmm you should have used fayt, nel, and maria. Or even Fayt, nel, sophia. Or better yet fayt, rosetti, and adray if you gotten him. but your strategy is good to. but y put a strain on yourself with handling with cliff instead of using someone else i'm very curious about it.

Adray isn't optional.

So Cliff doesn't run up and get himself killed like a dork...though this still happened quite often lol. Also so he cancels properly.

Great job winning the fight. O_O I knew Freya was considered to be the hardest boss in the game, but I didn't think she was quite that hard...I'm curious though, you had tons of healing items, so why didn't you use them more often?

Maria is MP-tanked, and Sophia is long range, so they don't really need it. And Cliff will die in one attack anyway.

And, as far as I remember, I did heal, whenever they needed enough HP to use a skill.

They're all located in the optional dungeons in chests. Fayt Ethereal Blast is in a floor of Sphere 211. You have to beat the game once to gain access to these dungeons.

i'd use magnetic field for long ranged X less fury use/gut use

It does use less fury, but Aiming Device has the whole launching property going on. I also like to do the sidestep shot-> Aiming Device-> Energy Burst combo more than simply using Magnetic Field.

good i hate freya, i cant beat her, its impossible for me, no matter how many times i try i just cant do it, so i gave up, i cant put anything into my sword cuz its full of orichalcums +500 attack each

'Broken' means overpowered or cheap. Maria can deal death from long range or short range, and is one of the, if not the most damaging characters in the game. Scatter Beam chains are he most damaging attack in the main game, Energy Burst and Radiation Bots make her the queen of the post-game.

i prefer using Albel, Mirage, and Nel. i was too lazy to even create stun bombs, i just use cancel bonused double slash of fury on her repeatedly and hope i don't die.

You don't have to use stun bombs, any damaging item will do fine.

that's good to know. i have assloads of those items like liquid flare bombs and stuff like that that i never use. that will make it alot easier to kill her with Albel.

I still hate Maria's sheer brokenness. Sure, it's probably the only way to get the timed battle trophies, but I'll save those trophies for when I need em'.

I'll stick with Albel and Increase HP/MP Damage for now.

It isn't really that she's necesssary, per se, she just makes it a heck of a lot easier. But you're right, she's still a very broken character.

It kind of annoys me when people are so proud of beating Freya, then they mention the "OMFG, STUNLOCK J00 WITH STUN BOMBS AND E. BURST, LOL!!!" strategy. I left my best friend alone about him beating Freya, since he didn't use Maria.

But honestly, if someone wants to be truly proud of beating Freya, then they should do it without Maria in the party...

I honestly can't think of a more broken RPG character than Maria, maybe except for Cloud, but he can get his ass kicked by the super Weapons just like anyone else.
