I went to a Journey Concert in September 2011 and they stopped mid concert for Arnel to in his words "pay dues to the master" and do his own vocal improv. There will NEVER EVER be a singer anywhere close to Freddie

I was 10 when this took place and Queen were my absolute favourite band, still are. My dad called to get tickets but they only accepted credit cards and he didn't have one. When he called 10 minutes later with his friends card number, they were sold out! I remember watching it on TV with my dad instead and he promised that we'd go next time they played Wembley, of course they never did.  God Bless you Freddie, your music makes me smile & cry, my heart soar and my breath catch in my throat.

Something I loved about queen is that they were all just professional musicians to the end. There was no public bickering and ego, they all just made a space for each talented member in their sound. Which makes it so much more sad that Freddie died. He was a friend not just a band member.

Maybe I'm way behind the times, but I learned recently in a Freddy Mercury interview I found on youtube that "Another One Bites the Dust" almost didn't even get released. It was Michael jackson that convinced Freddy Mercury to release the track as a single.

@ThundercatsHYO To be fair, he still has monitors. No one is good enough to maintain perfect pitch without some kind of feedback sound (as in opera houses where it's just the echo). It's just how the voice box is designed. Admittedly, you can get along on muscle memory for long spans, but sooner or later, you need feedback.
