  • batt powered s10=batt power ranger

    gas s10>gas ranger

  • Awesome video, how long till you have to recharge tho?

  • how about a small gas engine generator? to charge the batteries...

  • I have a diesel F350 but I should have bought a Ranger & done this. I really like what I see here.

  • what about the load, up to how much pounds cargo can it carry?

  • couldent u hook a couple of alternaters to it?

  • @n00bcak35 You could, but would not see much, if any benefit. When the alternator supplies power, it requires power to turn it, quite a lot of power. It works well in "regular" vehicles in part because of the energy capacity of gas. This is very simplified explanation, and I am not qualified (smart enough, heh) to elaborate.

  • You can get a plastic abs tool boxe for the ranger and install a breather on it for ventilation, it will keep the batteries dry and clean :)

  • the question is " can it do a burnout ?"

  • You should of used lithium batteries they last longer. You wont be saving any money with those type of batteries.

  • I couldn't disagree more. We've done S10s and they are not the truck of choice even though they have a wider frame for batteries. My 2000 Ranger has 300,000 miles and runs like it was brand new

  • @DRNEGOLICIS hey idiot, you misspelled "too" ...

  • the future is electric

  • I would have stored the batteries between the frame rails (underneath the bed)

  • I tried that in an S-10 and was way too much work. It pinched the bumper when it tilted so I had to make an ugly one out of bars, and only holds 10 batteries, plus they get very dirty. They salt the streets here so they get totally trashed in the winter even in the boxes. I've never complained about this set up because when I want to go dirt biking, i just use my other truck.

  • I see, well im here in North Carolina and luckily we don't have salt, But at least you Did It. Any good source where I can get some plans to do my own conversion, I have a 72 c10 that I would like to convert

  • to heavy of a truck plus why would you want to ruin it like this? the most i would do to it is put a stright 6 in it or a 350 or for gas millage put in a 262 or 286 V8 dont mess it up preserve that truck i my self own a 81 c20

  • @k9forkids my source was Electric Vehicles of America in NH. send you everything you need, give you all the support you need and their kit/version is well tested and many have been built. (mine works great -- no surprises)

  • Well as of right now, I'm doing an LPG(Liquid Propane) conversion since I still need to travel far distances. You should look into the LPG which I think is the future. Allot less carbon, it raises the octane which means more horse power and more mpg. also LPG would take care of our oil dependency of foreign countries

  • Any other options then a gas car is pretty much good. And liquid propane is pretty awesome! However, with elctricity all you ould eventually is the sun or the wind. And hopefully that won't run out any time soon. And if it does, I think we will have bigger problems. :D But anything you can do, Great!

  • it wouldn't matter, until they do something else to the suspension your not putting much more weight in that bed.

  • the batteries take all cargo space in the bed.we need better battery technology.

  • 24 batteries and only 50 miles? yikes. that's not very good. i suppose a truck is a little heavier, but still..........

  • I too wonder why so little range with so many batteries. I presume it's weight. I've seen a few electric powered trucks that have fewer batteries and up to 75 miles range. It seems it may be possible to mod the truck a bit to make it more efficient though. Good video though :p

  • The most I've ever done is 45 miles when the batteries were new. Now it's down to about 15 miles but I don't complain, that's per charge. I've done 60 miles in a day charging in-between. 50 miles is a TON, those batteries hold barely anything (the energy equivalent of half a gallon of gas). It's plenty range for 95% of my driving. If someone says their lead acid batteries go over 50 miles, they're lying, it's all theory

  • @imacrazydude9999999 A while ago someone I know had the idea of getting or making a bed rack that goes over the bed and cab, then using it to hold solar panels the whole length of it, that should increase milage or even temperarily replace the batteries during the day :)

  • will shy do a burnout lol ???????
