@drumnetworkBlake I used black ink. its called India ink. used for calligraphy and drawing, you can basically get it in any Arts and crafts store. i got a good little jar for 5 dollars. they sell lower quality stuff but bigger quantities for the same price.

@981Darlene art supply stores, but ash ink is when you burn paper and mix the ash with a bit of low chem body wash, making it thick enough to stay in you. this is also known as the prison technique. itll fade after years and years, maybe, but you, like me, are probably a teenager who cant get one legally yet, so it probably wont matter because then you'll just be able to get it done over.

your needle/copper wire/ guitar string is probably gonna get caught on the piston. make sure the second bend (tip) is VERY short. like miniscule. otherwise the piston wont spin. also, make sure your needle/copper wire/guitar string is straight! lol itll help out ALOT!

REVIEW: I made this tattoo machine and I've used it to do 2 tattoos so far. I find that my machine malfunctions quite often. The needle always comes loose from the button hole and sometimes it flies out, which is unsafe. One of the button holes have been scratched out and became wider (reverse-teardrop looking) so now I have to use the other holes until they get scratched out too. It's very annoying to have to replace the needle because now I am running out of string.

I mean there are other ways to get inked: you can poke yourself with a needle and pour the ink, you could make this machine, buy a real machine, or go to a professional. Next I am going to try to make a machine with Crest Spinbrush Pro, see if that works better or not.

You can use Indian ink or any ink that says non toxic.... I made one similar to this one with a switch as well j got my first tattoo with my own machine...... Only down side of using the Indian ink its that it'll fade out to a different color so if you want a more professional look go with good quality tattoo ink. Good video by the way!
