  • 私は音楽演歌が大好きです

    ALCEU-BRAZIL

  • i have a very shallow perception when it comes to enka music before, because it is usually sung in japanese anime and films that usually depicts misery and being heartbroken. but now i came to understand and appreciate such songs

  • Im here because of Marty Friedman

  • @Megatallicaupyourass Me too, wanted to see what Enka was.

  • @sockondik12 yeah, friedman is a master. its incredible how he looked for other influences apart to the conventional ones (rock, metal, etc) and included them into his music and created his own style. \m/

  • OMG! ME TOO! I'm only here because of DMC. That is teh LoLz awesome!

  • I'm here because of D.M.C.

  • Itsuki Hiroshi é o unico Cara que fica estiloso com Terno Amarelho!!! Um dia eu farei uma serenata enka para minha Flor da Terra do Sol Nascente...

  • its like Japan's version of salsa or something...

  • Likes Golden Music In VietNam

  • This sounds like some old Mexican music my mom listens to. Even though I have no idea what he's singing about this is still good.

  • @chromespokes

I was thinking the same thing.

reminds me of the more serious songs of josejose camilioSesto.

  • Killer-Bee style for sure...

  • This is too Kill Bill-ish.

  • is this CAPE of 30 year ?

    I listen to this song at one of Lucky star's ED =)}

  • listening to music like this is much more heartbreaking now b/c of what happened in japan (earthquake, etc). I sincerely hope such music can lift their spirits in this difficult hour

  • Amo música japonesa, japão e sua cultura é muito lindo pena que a música japonesa não é tão divulgada...

  • I think it's kinda funny that most of the commenters are not japanese.

  • japannise ppl are like too AWESOME i mean greeeet music, anime, history, technology and many others and the NINJA! rofl :D

  • @KumoKojiki I agree!! But you forgot Samurai, architecture, traditional morals, food, alchohol, humor, game shows, porn (jks) art, aesthetics, clothing, weapons, martial arts... I could go on :D (wow I didn't realise how big the list was xD)

  • What's the name of this song?

  • Japanese enka, Korean trot, Taiwanese oldies, traditional Spanish (Iberian guitar music), Argentinine tango, Greek laiko, French chansons, Mexican norteña, etc. OMG, they're all soooo good! <3

  • i love enka

  • This is pretty good, i have a japanese pen pal that mentioned these so i thought i'd check them out. I'm usually into metal and rock but this guy has some serious talent

  • i searched this because i saw it on princess princess

  • i'm related to him bhahhahahahah xD no seriously..

  • I love Enka music. So great!

  • Kagura likes Enka :D

  • It sounds like tango and mergue with Japanese pop music.

  • great singer

  • Enka is pretty badass lol

  • Somewhere out there Urd is sleeping.

  • i dont understand but what awesome voice !!!!!

  • mh... i clicked it because the title was interessting.

i don`t understand anything of what he is saying, though it makes me feel a little sad. i like it.

  • Beautiful...

  • There's something very evocative and compelling about this genre. I always thought that the older, more traditional forms of music were more emotive, at least in the West (eg. classical, opera, etc). It seems this is also true of Japanese music. Perhaps all over the world! To me it raises questions about the future, but in the meantime, I've just discovered Enka.

  • is almost like traditional spanish

  • wow i'm from colombia this really similar to our old music ... or argentinan XD ... i cliked this because of k -on (anime)

  • @dankaste same lol

  • @DivineIkari

    Same xD

  • @dankaste Same here xD

Sound kinda like Bollywood music though (<.<)

  • It's a shame that Americans don't seem to have music like this.. Im American...half Mexican and half Japanese, So I've got Mariachi on one side, and Enka on the other..It's amazing when my family gets together for parties... once they get drunk, I've got uncles singing Vicente Fernandez on one side, and Enka on the other... They think it's a competition as to who can sing louder, lol... quite a sight..

  • This song makes me think of drinking Sake and eating yakitori in a tiny bar after an exhausting day at work in Japan

  • i just love how elders sing so passionately about songs that have so much of culture on its country

  • it sounds like a greek eurovision song.

  • This is so good I get tears in my eyes -_,-

  • wow this is great!! o.O

  • I only clicked on this because of a Detroit Metal City chapter where Souichi sings Enka...but this form of music isn't bad at all!

  • hahaha same for me, but i'm starting to love it !

  • @Dyno247365 Haha, same here. And actually, as you said it's not bad at all xD

It sounds a bit like... Japanese Tango? :P

  • @Dyno247365

The Enka music has several qualities that we can hardly find in pop music nowadays.

You will find all singers have voca power, timing, interpretation and of course, a nice voice. It is a tough competitive market and the public is very demanding.

  • Ha! I came here for the same reason. This song rules!

    Go to DMC!!!

  • First Enka song I've ever heard and I love it.

  • som howe this make me think of gipsy musik, bhote is sad, reaxsing

by the way im thinking of the sad and painfull songa not the hapy ones

  • wonderful ...

  • just great!!

  • Amado Batista Japonês

  • woow this is like my grandfathers music :D (i'm spanish)

  • In case anyone wanted to know, this song is called Dinsei Kakurembo.

  • Ah, mata Sapporo de ittara ii naa!

  • I were in Japan in 83. staying there for 3 month. I've listen enka song while my stays n I like it very much. One song i've sang with japanese friends at karaoke is Sachiko. can anybody help me to find the song please.

whoever uploadind the enka song in karaoke version, hope the clips comes with Romaji.

  • it sounds like spanish guitars!Amazing!

  • What are enka ballads? Can some one who knows what they are talking about write to me a few sentences about what defines the style of Japanese music called enka ballads? If you did I'd be very grateful, thank you.

  • I been researching this for a presentation i have to do tomorrow, from what i've got its basically a traditional style of sentimental song, emotional lyrics etc. written to the japanese scale, rather than a western scale, that's why the vocal patterns are a bit different, creates that oriental sound, and generally uses traditional instruments rather than western ones. Jap music shops apparently still divide between J-pop and enka but there's a lot of crossover acts nowdays.

  • hoky shit

  • enka, best music in the world.

  • @ranaazad totally agree

  • Hai.. Im from M'sia, i love this song and singer too. Its very dramatic eventhough i didn't know what was he sang. But i believe its a sad song, isn't it? ;b Best performer, good pitching and awesome control vibration.

  • Lovely song... reminds me sad turkish or persian songs. Thank you .

  • awesome !!!!

  • This is one of the best enka ever heard. What's more, it's sung by one of the best veteran singer in the world. Excellent !!

  • i feel like .... i feel wind breeze.. and cherry blossom tree in front of me...

and i wielding my samurai.... wait for my beloved wife.. in white kimono

  • ...

  • Listening to Japanese and Korean folk music is so soothing and nostalgic for me. Funny thing is when I was a kid I hated it but I really appreciate it now. Maybe it was because when they used saxophone and weird techno sounds; it really clashes with the music. Lol I think that was because of the 80, 90's influence.

  • I really love this music and used to watch the program faithfully on NHK on Friday evenings. The performers seem to put their whole hearts into their music.

  • where can one watch it and is it still being shown?

  • Enka wa onna no uta bakari ni natte shimau yo 演歌と 癒えば 女歌

どおして 男声が こんなに 少ないの でしょおうか ?

  • The lyrics of Enka songs are often very moving : 泣いて笑って 生きてゆく。

Very typical enka lyrics, encouraging and making you strong. Thats why i love Enka.

  • this like "boleros"

  • I'm Korean!!!! No, just kiddin'....but I like enka better than J-pop.

  • Stop fighting on the comments of this great video, it's distracting

  • This is what it says in the book called "Race, Ethnicity and Migration in Modern Japan" by Michael Weiner: It would not be an exaggeration to say that Misora personified what was authentically japanese. But She, too, was of korean descent, as was her husband, the singer-actor Kobayashi Akira

  • I have never said that President Obama was Korean! You need to gets some eye glasses. Miyavi said that he was of Korean descent and Ayumi Hamasaki said that her favorite food is kimchi.

  • I know I never said you did I was being sarcastic! Who cares if someone says they like kimchi! If I said I like pasta does that make me "Italian"? As a matter of fact I have glasses and that has nothing to do with it! Try some travelling around the world, that'll open your eyes up not stuck in your little "Korean world"!!

  • You never mentioned Miyavi

  • Do I have to mention Miyavi? I dun' really care about Miyavi and I don't friggin' care if you think Ayumi Hamasaki is Korean or not. As she obviously isn't and there is absolutely no proof that she is. She can't even prove herself that she is! Ayumi Hamasaki IS Japanese, that is an undeniable fact that I think everyone else will agree with. Her name is Japanese not Korean.

  • "I dun' really care about Miyavi and I don't friggin' care if you think Ayumi Hamasaki is Korean or not"

You shouldn't have responded in the first place.

  • he looks like an asian seth macfarlane

  • hontooni umai arigato gozaimas domo watashi nihono enka eski des moshi dektara koyiota sozori no godasayi

  • Err... Try learning japanese properly.. :)?

  • OR TASTE MY HANZO STEEL, BAKKA

  • He's great. I makes me miss Japan :(

  • @betsy1947

my dad was borm in 45, i was born 82. holy shit thats 40 years~! still. i want to travel back in time. meet my dad in japn back in the 60's. and see who can win in a fight.

  • Ah reminds me of how I used to strangle cats when I was little.

  • @s4jt Ah, reminds me that there are still trolls on the internet like you.

  • Ah, reminds me that there are weeabos like you who'll embrace anything Japanese nomatter how much it sucks.

  • @s4jt Huh, reminds me that there are still c*cksucking basement-dwellers who use made-up words. Tell me, if you think it sucks so bad, why even post on it, or visit the page at all, you cumdumpster?

  • Huh, oh it would seem my "made-up" word hit a soft spot, hehe. Well, it's no surprise with someone who has an NHK avatar or a name like Apollo"kun".

Even you don't believe that one only should make positive remarks. Lastly, using shitty ad-hominems is just weak, or what do you say you wolfshirt weeaboo neckbeard? Actually, I take back the weeaboo part, since there's actually some basis for that one.

  • @s4jt a) Weeaboo is a made-up word; don't use quotations implying otherwise, especially to an English Major. b) If you'll notice, I never said that I particularly liked this song either, therefore rendering your "embracing anything Japanese" remark invalid. c) I love your insults that were obviously pulled straight from Urban Dictionary, and have absolutely no relevance to the situation at hand. You must be a smart person, indeed. You really are just a little faggot.

  • Congratulations on a joke major, either way I wasn't arguing that you will find the word in an English dictionary either. Anyhow, just because it's not a word recognized by an English dictionary that doesn't mean that the expression doesn't exist. It's also worthy to note that all words have had their origin. But lets face it, you're only bitching about it because it struck a soft spot.

Lull yourself into comfort with denial, you won't be any less of a loser-desu (to put it in your own words).

  • @s4jt Eh, I give up. You're annoying. And plus, we all know that famous Mark Twain line about arguing with fools. Speaking of fools: nice mis-use of Japanese grammer, there, buddy. ^^

  • Hah, I could probably make this go on, alas I am satisfied. Now you know what trolling is.

Either way though, you can't seriously expect proper grammar (even though 'have had their origin' isn't pretty) in youtube comments.

Lastly, Mark Twain sucks, silly Americans and their lack of good writers. Oh damn, there I go trolling again...

  • @s4jt

Ha, getting owned on the interwebs, then pulling the "LOLOLOL I TROLLED J00!!!" excuse for fleeing. So very lulzy.

  • @HoboZombie Where the fuck did you get air from?

  • Hontooni umai, deshoone!!!

  • I lived in Sapporo for four years; this song really makes me miss it so much! Great.

  • Miyavi and Ayumi Hamasaki are Koreans for sure!

  • No they're not!

    Enka music is Japanese

  • Enka music might be japanese but miyavi and ayumi hamasaki are ethnically koreans.

  • Yeah for sure.. xD But not full korean..

  • Thats what they teach in alot of korean schools..

Enka is japanese. 浜崎 (Ayumi Hamasaki) isn't Korean.. She is Japanese. She was born and raised in 福岡市Fukuoka-shi(Kyushu)

As was Miyavi. Born in Japan I mean.

  • I think Kouzai Kaori is Korean too.

  • He born in japan but his parent is from korea, but he is my best singer I LOVE YOU HIROSHI.....all ways I will remenber you ,his best concert was in Yokohama.

  • hes korean. I am korean to.

    And i lov japanese music!!

  • Yeah, there is something really Korean about the way he's singing this. Do you know that he is Korean for a fact?

  • How is he Korean? He can't be. It's not possible.

  • wow i hear people sing like that and i just get this really good feeling inside of me ^.^

its like when i hear singers from my country sing traditional songs. The feeling is just irreplaceable.

  • Can you please include the title: Jinsei Kakurenbo

  • Very nice, he's amazing.

    Makes me relax. Hehe :D

    Enka's awesome!!

  • Used to see his greatest collection cd in hmv at heeren. perhaps you may want to enquire with the counter staff. i used to order hiroko yakushimaru cd there.greetings from sengkang, singapore

  • He the man! Maybe can tell me,who the other one who alway wear the sun glasses? Those two the great ones.
