  • that was a neat video. there is a lot of self-gradification in building it yourself and it was really cool to see yours take shape. well done buddy!

  • AMAZING.............

  • how long did the whole thing take?

  • Looking great! Nice video, impressive, even soldiered the lipo taps on, good job!

  • Great video! Thanks for taking the time to make it...

  • 1:47 like the iphone

  • the question is, does it fly???

  • I am a rookie, My limited research has told me to get a 700 FB Align Trex and build it myself. If I calculated right this build took you two (2) hrs? Ive built rc cars before but no helicopters. realistically what do you think Im looking at and any advice to prepare for this would be appreciated. what is your take on FBL vs FB?? thank you for any help

    John

  • @jvandalen1 Hey man, actually I built it over 3 days! Quite simply I think flybar machines are out dated and not suitable for beginner pilots. They are difficult to setup accurately and the helicopters never fly right without lots of corrections, almost have un-predictable tendencies. That's just my opinion though. I recommend an FBL machine. 550 size is good to start with, easier on the wallet should you crash (we all do!) If you need more help please don't hesitate to message me :)

  • @cruddbucket altough i have to agree on the easy part, i do firmly believe that flying with flybar is the only proper way to learn to fly.

Congratz on the nice vid btw!

  • did you have to sand paper the main frame edges to remove sharp bits that could snag the cables or is that done before its shipped?

  • @leezaal I chose not to sand the edges, instead I used silicon fuel tube sliced open, and then placed over the frame edge where wires needed to lie.

  • Very Nice To Watch!

  • @MFizzle777 Thanks, please feel free to check out my other helicopter time lapse build videos :)

  • @cruddbucket Now this wasnt so hard huh!...LOL

  • @cruddbucket hey man ive read that voltz packs puff after awhile have you had this issue with yours? i have a 700e as well but havent ordered batteries yet.

  • @jsmith928 Hi, yes I have had them "puff" up and lose their ability to maintain utmost voltage when under load. I have tested many different brands, and the only batteries I will buy now are ThunderPower. I have had a set since day one that are still going strong! Cheers

  • amazing dude, and your good at building them

  • Nice one! I think I want 700e. cool idea with the time lapse. cheers for the effort!

  • OPETH!

  • really nice heli. Is this a the equivalent of the new 600 electric ?

  • Good job man

  • 2 days. thats impressive.

  • Awesome video great idea very entertaining to watch

  • wooow

  • This is the coolest video!!!!! I thought your 550 build was cool but this is Epic!!! And you cell phone doing circles was classic! I keep watching to see if you have anything els in the background doing crazy stuff....haven found any yet....any hints...lol....so one question I have is was this a sup-prize to how big the 700 is!!! I have a 550 and can't wait till I get a 700....is it really bigger than you expected? I've never seen a 700 up close...only video and pics...I so have to have one...I

  • @INMATECELL11 Glad you enjoyed man! check out the Logo 600 build also if you haven't. My first 700 size was a raptor 90 and it was surprisingly scary the first few times I flew it. But after a few flights I became really comfortable with it because the size is far more stable and predictable than smaller helis. 600 and above blade sizes are the best IMO because you can do nice long autorotations with them :) cheers

  • @cruddbucket where did you get the canopy?

  • Very nice video!

Hey, The castle of 120HV ESC did not catch fire? Here in Brazil, several caught fire ... I bought a 700E V2 and I'm waiting. The kit comes this ESC, I'm afraid.

    Adaltop

  • @adaltop No mine did not catch on fire... I have been lucky! and still continue to fly with it. I won't return it until the repair turn around time is better . Cheers

  • Great and funy video.

  • Hey people of youtube - stay tuned/subscribe to see my next helicopter time-lapse build. It is going to be a Mikado LOGO 600 with all the bling :) yeeeehawwwwww!!!

  • @cruddbucket whoops nvm i gotta read the desc more -.-

  • i like the phone and glue bottle spinning from 1:48 to 1:51 ;P nicely done lol

  • @Sweetness293 You have an eye for detail :)

  • Best 700E build I've by far

  • @chubbychicken1234567 Cheers mate glad you liked it

  • Fabulous!

  • Very nice video! And very nice build!

    One comment:

You need to set your tail shaft 90 degrees to your main shaft.

I can see in one of the pictures at the end, that it is slightly offset.

Mine had it to, it is a fault of Align, you need to trim a bit out the hole in the tail boom, to twist the tail case, then it's fine.

    Have fun flying it!!

    Tim

  • @timdeboer3890 Hi, thanks.

I did not have to slot the hole as I have heard Align had a bad batch of tail booms. Mine was ok and I did re-align it prior to flying it. Thank you for letting me know anyway. It is applicable to all helicopters. Very important, otherwise the helicopter will tend to spiral when pirouetting.

    Cheers

  • by this video i discovered the music of opeth - wow...

  • @tommes55 Great stuff isn't it :)

  • very nice! nice living room as well!

    what camera did you use?

  • @pofrani Hi mate glad you enjoyed, check out the 550E build on my channel also :) I used a Canon 60D with Sigma 30mm Lens. Cheers

  • How long did it actually take you to build?

  • @SunsetRC About 24 hours over 3 days

  • Cool idea1 I've got a TRex 600E to build. Just need to finish off another task first then away we go!

  • @Gonads1259 yeeeehaaaaaawwww! it's good fun

  • Great vid. In process of converting Align 600 Nitro.

  • i built a trex 250 and my damn! that was hard work at least 2 days!! 0.o

  • @thercpoop Haha well we all take different times... it took me forever to build and setup my first helicopter!!!

  • And how do I lubricate he motor? I've never done it b4

  • @carlocivicsi You should lubricate the bearings before each flight with suitable oil. I like to use "Triflow" oil as seen here [ triflowlubricants (dot) com/Superior_Drip/superior_drip.html ] it comes with a straw which allows me to insert it into the frames and apply oil to the drive and non-drive end bearings of the motor (I invert the helicopter to apply to drive end bearing). I am also lubricating every bearing in the helicopter. Cheers

  • So yours has no play whatsoever? My gap is about 1 mm 1/2. Used calipers to measure. Have u tried it with ur motor? Pulling it softly up and pushing it down? Thanks for ur help.

  • @carlocivicsi Something isn't right - you are pulling on the fan, correct? it shouldn't have any movement axially. I do not have mine on hand to check as I'm offshore for a few more weeks.

  • Nice video, One quick question. On the 700mx motor ( the one that comes on the trex 700e) is it normal to have some vertical play?? I just finished my 11th flight and I was just doing some inspecting and I noticed this vertical play within the motor it self I hope u know what I mean ( I grab the top of the motor and pull up gently and push down). Is it normal?

  • No that is not normal - remove the motor for further inspection. If possible measure the axial and radial clearance using a dial indicator. Have you applied lubricating oil previously? Cheers

  • Pretty awesome vid!

  • Great vid. Wasn't sure if the 550 or 700 but the 700 looks impressive.

  • hey man im helping build my 700e we have a dilema about how to run the wiring for the castle ice 120 can yu slide me a few pics on how yu did yours please ... email me at cutter03@yahoo.com .. were tryn to figure this out .. thanks .

  • @cutter043 No worries I emailed you and a few pictures

  • is that new 650 gona be nitro or eletric ... immore into the elctric then anything .. course my mongoose by airstar is 26cc gas ... i just bought it about a week ago for 4400 bucks ... shes sweet ..is there any vids or intel on that 650??

  • @cutter043 it's going to be 10S electric I believe - also with 3GX new fbl control system! I think there is debate over if its called the 650 or revised 600 - anyway a quick google search turns up some pictures, A. Szabo also has some test videos on his youtube and facebook

  • i am in the lovely country of africa... can you tell the enthusiasam in my responce .. lol lucky though im going home soon for leave so illbe taking adavantage of my 700e 3g .. my 600 esp .. and my airstar mongoose if its done .. so out of curiosity .. what kind of cam did yu use for the 700 build .. and how long did it take .. and how much raman noodles did yu scarf during that build .. lol

  • @cutter043 Haha can't be that bad! I am from Durban originally :) I used a canon 60D with a Sigma 30mm lense for this time lapse - a pic every 30 seconds, took about 3 days and I ended up with about 2700 images roughly! was good fun and I can't wait to build another heli... thinking maybe logo 600 or the new trex 650 that is due out soon :D happy landings mate

  • @cruddbucket I am going to get this as my next heli. I have a 700n and a Logo 600 3d at the moment. I love all the KDE parts you put in. You spared no expense building it. Pricey options parts list you got there. How you liking the Vbar?

  • @MaxDressel Cool mate, those are some nice helicopters - why don't you try building the new Align T-rex 600E? it is a 10 cell electric... for something a bit different :)

I am really loving the V-bar I honestly can't say enough good things about it!

  • @cruddbucket

Well I've sold my 700n today :-( Funding the new project. I honestly do not like the look of the new 600e. It looks like an afterthought that they added 10s. Plus I have my Logo 600 3d on 12s 3700 45c voltz and that is like a rocketship! So for that reason I would like a 90 size machine for those windy days and for that big blade presence. Saw your flying vid too dude. Nice style. Smooth and precise. The vbar excels at that. I did not like paddle simulation on 5.1! VBar rock tho!

  • yeah those were good .. it was like .. someone callin gand yu werent answering ... lo thats how i am on my cell.. but now i for a yr long deployment .. cant fly my 3g or my new airstar mongose.. OH THE HUMANITY ... LOL

  • @cutter043 bummer dude where are you deployed to?

  • He look like a monkey moving around the heli lol Good video.

  • Just finished a trex 700e 3G. How do I setup the cyclic so it can b 8 degrees all around. I know how to setup the pitch which I'll have at 11 or 12. But I just need ur help on what Mentioned at the beginning of the comment. Thanks.

For some reason left ELE I get 8 right ELE I get 6. Same with aileron.

  • @carlocivicsi Hey mate, don't worry about the difference in values - it is ok for them to be different. I too thought that this was strange. Follow exactly as per the manual - setup the AIL pitch. The ELE pitch is automatically set/a cyclic ring is generated in the software.

  • Sehr gut gemacht

  • @MrNcharly yeah bro

  • Great video! I Love the spinning phone and glue bottles at 1:45

  • nice

  • how did you run the esc wires to the motor???. seems for me to be tough and for that reason ive seen people mount the esc in the front tray. but i want to mount mine like yours. do you have any other pictures showing how you routed the cables??

  • @carlocivicsi it's not too hard, I ran them past the main shaft on the inside of the frame. They are secured with cable ties so they cannot come near the elevator servo, linkages or shaft. I don't have any direct pictures, this may help though: flickr.com/photos/cruddbucket/5462951495/

  • nice :) what is the name of the song?

  • @monkeyking114 Thanks - the song is Benighted by Opeth

  • Nicely Done! If you don't mind me asking... what kind of settings for timelapse and what kind of camera did you use? I have been wanting to do a timelapse of a heli i've been buying parts for and i'd like to get a result as good as this! But no second chances. :)

  • How about some flight video? ;)

  • @smaze17 check out my youtube channel, there are a few videos up already ;)

  • I must admit that I was absolutely mesmerized by this video!! Nicely done bro. I'm currently putting together a 550e and can't wait to get my 700e 3G!!

    -S

  • @smaze17 cheers mate, glad you enjoyed it - have fun building your heli's!

  • Nice work, Nice vid. Do you have all the KDE upgrade parts?

  • @freemarlochip Thanks - I do not have all of the upgrades no. I have the FBL head, main gear, battery tray, nose cone, adjustable motor mount and most importantly the tail upgrade :)

  • Awsome video!!!

    Thanks for doing it!

  • Very great video !

  • Great video. Thanks for sharing.

  • Great vid mate.

  • Oh man, so jealous!

  • Nice vid btw

  • So you're the one who stole my shirt...

  • @markdaddy :D

  • Nice

  • Looking forward to some on board footage :)

  • That thing looks super high quality. Carbon rear wing tips and all :p how much that set you back, and CAN it hold an slr??? haha

  • @mountainbikemike Yep it's all top gear :) set me back a leg and a few toes! it definitely can and will be holding my SLR for aerial video/photography!

  • LOL answering a lot of calls @1.46 are we?
