Despite my continuing correspondence with bob brown I doubt the greens will "take action" against the sasquatch in my backyard that is terrorising my family.
We should let Greens win for once. Just for the hell of it and see what happens. If they can't cut it there are always next elections and people eager to rule are plenty to choose from.
is there a way to get the Greens (and others) to focus on research - to put available ideas into practice so that coal can be used without impacting the climate. This is about zero CO2 emissions - not just sticking CO2 into the ground.
well i'm still a swing voter, but i have to say... that was a TERRIBLE ad...
But seriously, if i vote green, how am i helping myself? i mean sure, plenty of noble causes, whales, forrests, going to protests, but seriously, if i want to support a minor party who will make a difference to me at a grass roots level, i'm leaning towards family first. Not a flame, just some constructive criticism.
I tell you what, I'd rather a set of policies that take into account costs incurred beyond the next 4 years... wouldn't you? When you think about 'what benefits me' think about the impact on agriculture, fisheries and tourism (GB Reef) in Australia from climate change. Lowering petrol tax is the opposite of help! See what happens to food prices THEN, Family First!
I'm willing to bet my life that 99% of the positive comments for this video come from young adults who still go to university and/or live in the inner city suburbs.
Are you suggesting that it's merely trendy to be climate conscious? If it doesn't seem important now it will soon enough. If you believe that there's still a scientific debate, then you've been had by politicians that are too afraid to stick their necks out. There is no more scientific debate, there has been near complete consensus for a long time now - where's the action?
Uranium stores won't last that long, (remember almost ubiquitously, under 1% of all uranium is U235- the kind you need) and waste is a persistent, expensive problem. Surely proper research into improving solar, geothermal and other alternatives would be preferable.
haha hippies...!?! that kind of comment really does my head in. When will you retards get it through your head that these so-called hippies are actually the only people who have the brains and are just using their common sense. People that decide their vote over whether someones add was cool or if they saw john howard in the supermarket should SERIOUSLY wake up!!!!!! (Good luck Greens)
this ad is a great change, look at all the negative comments, that's why australia needs all the help it can get! i would rather see this ad then the constant negative bickering of howard and rudd. i'm not a greens voter, but more positive ads like this could change my mind... well done.
OK OK, I'll vote green, you've pestered me into it.
If you lose seats at this election, just watch the shit hitting the fan. Take it from me, I used to be in the Democrats. BTW, you didn't employ the geniuses at Power advertising by any chance did you?
If you vote above the line for the Greens, I believe the preference flow goes Democrat, then any half decent independents or minor parties, then Labor, then coalition, then all the awful independents and minor parties (think Pauline Hanson or Family First).
Obviously you should check the lodged preferences of your party on the AEC website if you are going to vote above the line.
We all remember the disaster that was Labor and the Democrats love for Family First at the last election.
Not to mention the Coalition and Family First directing preferences to the ultra-libertarian LDP -- then dissing the Greens for being "soft on drugs". What are they trying to do? Give hypocrisy a bad name?
Heh, and how am I supposed to get the evidence online? Trying to search for it casues too many environmentalist websites that say how good it is. Doesn't make it untrue. I'm not just having it out for the greens though, I don't think any government will ever do "the right thing" becasue there are too many other factors invovled including employment.
Did you know that our resources are finite...did you know that the main cause of increase greenhouse gases is the removal of vegitation from the surface of the earth. But more importantly, did you know that recycling does not produce fossil fuels...it USES fossil fuels. Also damning of valleys produces huge amounts of methane (four times potent greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide)....There are lots of things both yourself and Kevin07 need to think about.
"damning of valleys produces huge amounts of methane" -- you mean the effect of submerging vegetation. This is a bigger problem in hotter climates. But ... what exactly is this responding to? Greens oppose creating more dams without good cause (e.g., first pursuing water saving).
I'm sorry, that ad is terrible. I can't take a political party seriously when I'm listening to a song that sounds like it's come off a children's show, as much as I'd like to.
I wasn't initially sure about the music and jingle either but I think it will grow on people. It's a great succint positive ad & I hope that we see a less hostile senate after this election - I VOTE GREEN! I do hope we do not lose any votes for the Green due to the election being called at the same time as "schoolies" week. Their minds will be elsewhere and possibly not on the election and that would be a great loss.
In 2007 Larissa Waters should have won a senate seat. the reason she did not is due to a flaw in the way we count the vote.
If you recount the QLD senate ballot excluding all candidates except the last 7 standing Larisa Waters is elected.
Greens "Guru" Luntz is not up to it. He and Brown are engaged ion a conspiracy of silence denying Australians a fair and accurate voting system
WHY?
We need to adopt Meek or the Wright re-iterative counting system

GO THE GREENS!
I wish that every party would take the environment as seriously as them.
Nuclear power? You have GOT to be joking! Imagine the impact of another nuclear disaster, but this time in our own backyard!
Its all very well to complain about the economy, but I'm with the Greens on this one.
