I always loved that color GTA too bad it was just the model with the 305, since the t-top model didn't come with a 350...mine was an '88 GTA grey ext/int with 350 and fully digital dash. I still have yet to see another model just like it with that dash. I traded it in 1997 for a 1995 Pontiac Comp T/A car #38. She sits in my garage as we speak :D
@compta38 Tree-fiddys and T-tops were available in F-bodies throughout the L98's production from the engine's introduction in '87 all the way to the end of third gen production in '92. In 91-92 that combo was only available on Formula 350's. Not sure where the whole "350's and T-tops and can't exist together" idea came from, as there's plenty of cars like this out there. Google is your friend. I've gotten into more arguments with "car guys" about this....And yes, my car has T-tops and 350 power.
@MCarll you are right sir! and I call myself a Trans-Am guy. They didn't have the 350/t-top combo in 1987 because they didn't know what the torque would do to it, but in '88 they did have them. It's a beauty either way...hold on to that old bird. Thats one of my biggest regrets in my life, getting rid of my '88 GTA. It was like a hotel room on wheels :D

just to clarify, and i am trying to be helpful so watch the name calling. Are you talking about cone style vs clutch style limited slip? Either way the operation is similar. there is no waiting 'til a certain mph for the axles to lock to the carrier. It's dependant on the torque applied.

@MCarll I know for sure the 8th digit in the vin number tells you what engine it has in it, I am not sure about the T/A but for the Camaro this is true, I believe there is a H, T, and 8 for possible engines, two different HP 305's and a 350 ... you can find more info on this if you google it =) nice car ... wish there was sound

@pizzlewis um no, possi means both tires spin simultaneously with power being given to them at all times, limited slip means only one tire (the right) spins (or is "driven") until a designated (typically somewhere around 10-15 mph) at which time power is given equally to both tires. they are not the same thing

this car has a borg warner 9 bolt due to the 350(L98) only coming with that diff, no clutch, its uses a posi cone, and if its burning out with both tires its obviously not an open diff,one wheel squeal=open diff, 2 wheel burnout=posi trac
I'll always love the style of these cars. Just sold mine a week ago. Found a mint 95 Z28 with 90,000 miles and feels way more powerful. I love it. But the style of the 3rd gen birds was my favorite. Hope you dont have the 5.slow in yours, those things were dog slow man. these brake torque videos are so cliche though, since anyone can do a brake torque. My Bird was still mint too, got 5,000 for it with no problem. Take care of yours man!

Haha, I did that last year, im a junior in high school now and I drive a 1988 GTA with some extra goodies, a whole 331rwhp worth. Well, they closed campus this year because of our lunch time racing and after school we would all leave in a hurry, the guys in the rustangs would always try to beat us pontiac and chevy guys, I have yet to be beat. @MCarll I know for sure the 8th digit in the vin number tells you what engine it has in it, I am not sure about the T/A but for the Camaro this is true, I believe there is a H, T, and 8 for possible engines, two different HP 305's and a 350 ... you can find more info on this if you google it =) nice car ... wish there was sound

@msholbrook140 sorry but your wrong. the 350's did come with t-tops, but only in 1989 and in small numbers due to the thought that the torque would twist the chassis. I know this because I actually own a 1989 Formula 350 with t-tops, sadly they are acrylic so I need new ones because they do not hold up well in the Texas heat. At the same 350's came with both posi and limited slip depending on the car so this video is no way to tell the engine size, so you yea...

@pizzlewis um no, possi means both tires spin simultaneously with power being given to them at all times, limited slip means only one tire (the right) spins (or is "driven") until a designated (typically somewhere around 10-15 mph) at which time power is given equally to both tires. they are not the same thing

this car has a borg warner 9 bolt due to the 350(L98) only coming with that diff, no clutch, its uses a posi cone, and if its burning out with both tires its obviously not an open diff,one wheel squeal=open diff, 2 wheel burnout=posi trac

I'll always love the style of these cars. Just sold mine a week ago. Found a mint 95 Z28 with 90,000 miles and feels way more powerful. I love it. But the style of the 3rd gen birds was my favorite. Hope you dont have the 5.slow in yours, those things were dog slow man. these brake torque videos are so cliche though, since anyone can do a brake torque. My Bird was still mint too, got 5,000 for it with no problem. Take care of yours man!

Haha, I did that last year, im a junior in high school now and I drive a 1988 GTA with some extra goodies, a whole 331rwhp worth. Well, they closed campus this year because of our lunch time racing and after school we would all leave in a hurry, the guys in the rustangs would always try to beat us pontiac and chevy guys, I have yet to be beat. Did hear about a viper rolling around here though ;).

???cobra's??? 88??? what you been smoken??? the cobra came out in 1993 and were limited production. and i have a 86 ta bone stock 225 hp and smoked plenty of those mustangs. back then the 89 and the 90 5.0 were the fastest, then came along the cobra in 93. all the gt are slow from then to this date as the demand for the cobra grew

I've done it at the end of my sophmore year, junior year, and im looking foward to the end of this year. All in my 88 iroc z :) The first year i had it i was getting it painted, then the year after i did bolt ons, and now this year im going to look for a wrecked ls1 for a swap. If i manage that, ill throw the biggest burnout my schools seen in awhile :)
