Nice vid, I've got one of these myself... only thing is... can i shoot steel cartridges with it ? I'm not quite sure since there is no lilli leave on the barrel. In our country its only legal to shoot with steel cartridges, so i'd love to know if i can use this gun or not...
Cheers for posting that. I am after a full choke for one of these. Would love to know of any infor where to get one. Also what do you call heavy loads over there? here in NZ, 76mm or 3 inch are magnum loads or a heavy load. I have heard that you can put magnum loads through these if you reverse the spring like you did and have been wondering if that was true. Cheers
Fantastic video and thanks for posting it. I have an old one that I have inherited and it is brilliant. Prefer it to gas operated now. Simple to clean and operate. Only problem is I only have one choke for it and desperate to get another - namely full choke. If you have any information about where to get them, I'd love to know.
@cosmo6240 i would call a 70mm ounce and a quarter a heavy load i use a 28 grm for all my shooting with no problems i have an address for a breda man in new zealand i will sort it out for you by the way those old bredas are all 70mm chambers
i have a 1948 browning Auto-5 its amazing how close the A-5 and breda are, however i must say i like how the bolt on the breda comes out of the receiver compared to the A-5, so much easier from what i saw
check the serial numbers under the barrel: a collector told me that Breda made the most efficient barrels between 1965 and 1971. born in 1947,this gun is a piece of history i Italy.
Great guns they are but Parker is still better. Some one came into my local gun shop and wanted an estiment on the value of this old home defense shotgun. He took his dads old 12 gauge and cut the double barrel down to 18.5 inches and gave it a homemade pistol grip. It was an old parker classic. Before it was worth around 4,000 bucks. Now under 300. Poor, dumb, dumb fellow.
You forgot to show two of the best parts about the Breda shotgun. One is the barrel is chrome lined and is a smaller inside dia. than most shotguns. That makes a power-piston wad seal tight. Makes the gun shoot "hard". The other is the stock has an adj. drop. Remove the butt plate you'll see it. Always keep the magazine cap tight. It will work lose. A cousin bought a Breda 12 gauge new in 1958. I shot it a lot ! He died. The shotgun got sold. I sure do miss that Breda !
Your right about hard to find. And being a first class shotgun. Got a friend with a 20 gauge. We'er going to see if his has the adj. drop stock. That's why the stock and receiver have a matching radius.
i have a breda slightly different to yours no rib down barrel and no engraving. sometimes it wont eject the empty cartridge has this ever happened you? i stripped it down and give it a good clean going to try it at the weekend again. most cartridges i use are 32 grams is this classed as a light load or heavy load?
sorry chris i just have to laugh at the related videos, and then theirs you with your shotgun! you should wear some fishnets in the next video! ha ha. my father has an old single barrel was belong to my gran uncle the thing was buried in a bog in sligo(you know why) still shoots straight though.
Great video. Thanks. Couldn't have taken mine apart without you.

Great gun and still made,
I'm sure the washer should go under the taper ring to protect it from the spring.
lsdt01 2 years ago
what you say is true most have 2 washers but the spring is ground off square so it does no harm if it is missing do you own one?
