this afirmation "Baby birds babble like human infants " is a lie, each Zebra finch have it own chant, at 2 moths of lives when the peak starts to turn into Red (Male) Orange (Female) the kind of chant doesn't change, only when the Zebra finch is a baby just borned (1 to 45 days of life) have a diferent sound, but they can't still sing When they start to sing, is gona have that chant all he's life. When I got my two zebras guys, Ed and Ralph (like in "The Honeymooners"), I didn't know they were both males and they were VERY VOCAL! I kept them in the bay window above the head of my bed. I swear they used to try to raise me from my dead sleep by calling out every morning..."Time to get up! Time to get up!" They were great pets for eight years before they flew off to the big aviary in the sky. They were fun, active, reactive guys who kept me entertained for a long time.

I have two female zebra-finch and they told me that the male has that color orange on the cheeks and obviously he is the one that sings. But I like the girls and I believe they had a stress time when they where living with the males b4 I got them because one of them had lost a few feeders and the other has no nail on her middle finger.
