this is awesome, ever since i heard that second groove i was determined to learn it! i was only use to the typical paradiddle, and ive been at it for the last week finally got it, thanks to this video replying it...on too the next groove i suppose haha, thanks
88,000 hits is great publicity, Jeff is always been a sick player in brampton he deserves more notoriety. its too bad 88,000 hits doesn't directly = money
makes me wonder. if this is such a cool thing, then why do we all complain about how boring it is when we first learn it? who knows that this stuff was possible when we first learn RLRR LRLL.
I used to only play metal, and after a year of hardcore blasting practice i kind of lost interest in drumming, but Jesus Christ, all of that lost passion was brought back with these paradiddle patterns.
@molomono I am working on my blast, reinventing my blast if you will. basically i did not like my wrist patterns so i changed it so i will use more power, yeah its going to take a bit. i lost intrest in drumming once, but that was because i was really bad, but i worked at, and so on.
@AsLokun Yeah dude sure. Its like this you start out real fast, then you can pull out a parradiddle on the kit while you band slows down, then speed that parradiddle as the band speeds up. . . its pretty cool, try it.
hi jeff u r good god bless god give britney and dale and u talent we are going to sued it go watch my britney spears videos i'm dancing professinal . god bless u
Imho best thing to keep you practicing, is to play hard music and try to nail it. And if you can't play it, then keep practicing (slowly) until you can.
For example: 16th note bass drum -> Tool Vicarious
For example: RRLR on hi-hat while doing B--B on bass drum -> Schism Tool.
Screw the gay thing about the way he chokes the cymbals. This is still the most imformative and inspiring video on paradiddles on youtube so far. Thanks for the video.
It's the way he insist on silencing his cymbals. It's takes ages before he starts talking again. That's the only thing I hate about this video though.
Unfortunately we tried that but we were experiencing plenty of feedback, so with the time delay before I spoke it worked out. It didn't look the best though.
I agree I could of feel asleep during this process, the sound tech ask me to hold the cymbals for 3 seconds before he turned my talked mic on to avoid feedback. That was his cue.
This is very informative. But ya...the symbol muffling is hilarious. Its as if he put more focus into the symbol thing than the lesson. But very informative and excellent drumming.
matt here, I was told to search this from my friend, i want to know what also can help with LIMB co-ordination such as keeping a steady beat on hi-hat and do what ever with the bass drum without ruining the beat for instance, my right hand and right foot/leg work together sorta' and I seem to mess up a beat sometimes when I hold maybe 8's with high hat and something like anything with bass drum. Can anyone help me?
paradiddles are one of the main things i struggle with getting them up to speed. you kind of just jump into it at a high speed once you get the concept in, and you add a lot of new grooves and stuff too fast for people unfamiliar to paradiddles.
Awesome indeed! Nice tips to understand paradiddle grooves and making them much more easy to play. Thanks for helping me taking my technique and feel to a higher level.
Very nice explanations. Paradiddles are amazing once you get them up tp speed and you can keep everything in time. Thanks for sharing your drumming experience.
once you get the groove down like you know it like the back of your hand the kick will fall into place, his first groove took me a month of practicing and i cant believe how one day it just all came togather
On the second "groove" where are you placing the bass drum? or if anyone could help me on that i would apreciate it! You kind of go a little fast in to the groove.Maybee i'm a little slow, but i'm digging the grooves!
I love how he explains the paradiddle as if to a first grader, but when he plays it he just plays with that pro feel and says "improvise" with the bass drum. It takes forever to be able to make those paradiddles sound like that with that feel, and just as long to just "improvise" with the bass drum. I mean, I can't do it.
Great lesson.I, like you, was given tons of "variations of diddls" I did not practice the way i should have. I was 10 and wanted to just play Zep tunes it helped me in the groove aspect, for the past 3 I have been hitin the rudaments hard . I liked how you show how the finished product sounds before I started working on it. Pure insperation! It's amazing how many people you can fool by playing these little "tricks" but THEY WILL GET YOU GIG's! wish you would have showed where your putting bass.
Wow you are an amazing drummer. Thanks for this video, I'm learning a lot from it. I'm practicing paradiddles a lot lately, so it's nice to be a little creative and experiment while practcing...

Hey thats with me too, you know, Cuz we are rock players originally, so its hardest for us to get used tio playing oustide the back beats. But just train your hands slow, im in this process.
why the fuck doesnt he just grab the cymbal so it will stop ringing, it just barely grabs it which leaves it ringing and us waiting on him, that's so stupid. just really grab it! ha
Very interesting way to do paradiddles... Now i want to restart to practise again :D \,,/_
