Chase, I feel for you on the mom thing. I will be telling my mom soon that I am trans, although she may already suspect something since I've already changed my name - which she doesn't use. When I came out to her as a lesbian over 18 years ago, she cried for two days - until my great aunt told her it was no big deal. It's a difficult thing for everyone. But, IMO, living honestly is not the same thing as living selfishly.
Chase, I know how you feel. My mom was ok to start off with then she got upset. The same with my brothers and dads. My step dad was the worst. But now everybody is coming around and it has only been 6 months. My dad doesn't call me Jaden, but he treats me really good. It is still tough on them. Give it time. You deserve to be happy. You weren't put on this earth to live for somebody else. You have to live for yourself. Take Care, man.
I am learning :) It seems I have felt this obligation all my life to others and to feel guilty when acting in my own interests. I really need this... I need to be me... but the thought of hurting my family is weighing heavily. Thanks for sharing.. every little word helps. It is time I let go and let others be responsible for their own feelings so I can take care of mine :)
