  • this is one of my earliest memorys - laughing with my brothers and cousins at the helmet shaking ridiculously we must of been about 6

  • this was my best program

  • Not a patch on Ghost Rider.. (Not the hollywood fool with the burning head!, the one with the burning tyres)...Legends never die ;)

  • like another guy said:

i hope nobody dropped a Banana Peel on the road......

  • I know, I know, television special effects. But in reality what he is doing is nearly impossible. How could he be INCREASING speed making sharp turns etc. I'm no motorcycle expert, but don't you have to BRAKE when making a turn on a motorcycle?

  • My Favorite!!

can anyone help me i cant find a tv series i watched when these series aired. In that series there were two asian girls with super powers.one was on good side and other evil.the good one helped the kids protect the world.

  • LMFAO!!!

  • If the hyperthrust countdown was 5 seconds, why did they bother having three digits on the display ? Just asking...

  • haha looks like i am riding my bicycle...:D

  • Comment removed

  • ok..that wasn't even fast forwarded ..that was real!..

  • That was the moment of the show I was always looking forward to.

  • any one want a backa?

  • i wonder what what would happen if you put a nitro injection on a motercycle lol

  • speed camera's wet dream

  • @HorrorHarry100 lol accually acording to mythbusters if a vehicle could go fast enough it would beat the speed cam.

wieird thing is, acording to the speed meter hes going 181mph but it looks like 700mph lol

  • lol i cant believe i used to droll over this hyper thrust thingy . ehehheheh

  • now i know why US is so oil hungry

  • hope he doesnt slip r u kidding me 300mph is not child thing even the bugatti is less than 300mph today

  • I like the way he took the first corner and didn't even bank the bike over! LOL

  • Comment removed

  • Impossible. If you could accelarate from 0 -300 mph in six seconds, the inertial force would snap you neck like a toothpick!

  • @mistofoles is possible why the motor bike is

  • total bollocks lol

  • bah I remember this turd!

  • Incredible machine.

  • i'd fucking love it for a game developer to have street hawk as an unlockable, lmao

  • @markdarroch

not a bad idea Mark can we collaborate with EA sports with our design, u do the sponsoring ill design

  • I lost my innocence the first time i came up my wife

  • Logic kills creativity. Let's bow down to dull Big Brother and Jeremy Kyle shows.

  • VTEC just kicked in yo.

  • they can stfu at age 8 I believed it

  • someone riding a bike at 200mph is against the laws of physics...beyond me really!

  • Yeah who cares if its not theoretically possible...it is fun and that's what counts..unlike most of the dreary crap that's on today.

  • i always like a simplicity and funcionality of HUD in serials/movies like this... for eg. Robocop... not a single redundand pixel, but clearity and funcionality brillant

  • @crazyivan030983 that's probably because robocops O.S. wasn't "microsoft windows"...can you imagine the trouble he would have had if it were?.....lmfao!

  • @keiko909 yeah... robocop was on Amiga OS :)

  • I loved this as a kid

who gives a shit if it was realistic? It was ace....

  • That's 6 Points and a producer easy...

  • does this show come on as a re run can some one let me know

  • I JUST LOVE THIS SERIES.. I CANT FORGET THIS FOR MY LIFETIME.. there is no other series i have seen as a kid which could excite me like Street Hawk did .. not even Knight Rider or Giant Robot .. or Sigma.. :)

    HyperThrust mode 5 4 3 2 1 .. zzzzzzzzzooooooooommmmmmmmmmmmm.. i still remember screaming at this scene.. :)

  • It's not supposed to be a normal bike though. It's science fiction. The bike CAN take corners at 300 MPH because of the technology. It's theoretically possible.

  • @GrandDizzy It's "thoretically possible" you say. Mind telling us which "theory" you're using to propose that possibility? Mind laying out the theoretical equations, even only roughly-speaking seeing as symbols and sub- or super-scripts hardly postable here?

  • @RingSight91 I didn't say I've invented the technology, just that it's not impossible. Jarbon5 criticised the bike's "impossible" feats, but that's like criticising Star Trek's communicators in 1967. Just because something can't be done with current tech doesn't mean it's physically impossible. Who's to say humans will never build intertia-defying spacecraft? It seems far easier for a ground-based vehicle which can physically anchor itself to the road. It's narrow-minded to call it "impossible".

  • @GrandDizzy If you say something is "theoretically possible", then you better be damned sure you have a "theory" to back it up. Otherwise you're just "guessing", or in scientific terms, saying something is "hypothetically" possible. Without a Theoretical Basis, your Hypothesis is free to be called the BS that it is.

Bikes+Riders can't do 300+ mph [and stay in one piece] period; even just going straight. Ask all the people who've tried at the Bonneville Salt Flats.

  • @RingSight91 "Theoretically possible" as in not definitively impossible. Many TV shows feature feats that are definitively impossible, such as an ordinary person leaping a great distance, or a car doing stunts that wouldn't be possible in real life. But when you have a science fiction series featuring undisclosed technology (i.e. they don't tell us how it works) then what they're showing us is only currently impossible. We can't say it's impossible because we don't know how the technology works.

  • @GrandDizzy Hell no. "Theoretically Possible" means "Can be possibly tested with a generally-accepted Theory". Einstein's "Energy is Equal to amount of Mass Accelerated to the Speed of Light" or "e=mc^2" was "just" a "theory" until Oppenheimer and the gang tested the first Nuclear Device in Trinity, New Mexico years after the said Theory was published.

What, in your deluded opinion, was the Theory of Operation behind Hyperthrust? How many Gs to round a corner in Los Angeles at 200 mph?

  • @RingSight91 Look I obviously haven't made myself clear. f

  • @RingSight91 Look I obviously haven't made myself clear. Let me put it another way: You can't criticise Superman because it's "impossible for people to fly". However, if the camera cuts and the time suddenly jumps backwards on the clock in the background, then that is clearly an ERROR and you CAN criticise it. All I'm saying is you can't say a show is flawed because the sci-fi is "impossible". Superman flying is the PREMISE of the show, like an inertia-defying bike is the PREMISE of Street Hawk.

  • @GrandDizzy Let me make myself "clear" while we're at it.

    - Superman flying is possible based on the PREMISE that he is an extra-terrestrial alien with a different cellular and molecular composition than humans.

    - A streetbike with Hyperthrust is a GIMMICK because it was just riding on the coattails of another show which featured a ride which could go very fast at the press of a button: The Colonial Viper Mk I and its "Turbo" button.

Both KITT and AirWolf owe their "boosters" to Orig. BSG.

  • @RingSight91 The Starship Enterprise travelling through space and defying inertia is not currently possible, but the programme is telling us that they have invented a way to achieve that, so it's not like the concept of the programme is flawed. That is the nature of science fiction. And often science fiction of the present turns out to be science fact of the future. No one can definitely say inertial dampening is impossible. So I don't see how this programme can be criticised on that basis.

  • @GrandDizzy This program can be criticized precisely because they don't even provide a Theoretical Framework on how Hyperthrust works. All they do is (1) Supposedly clear traffic at the intended route, and (2) Boost the bike's jet turbine thrust output to reach the desired velocity. Aside from his special-fitting, custom-made rider's suit, there was not a damn thing added that would supposedly keep him mounted while the bike ran on computer control.

  • @GrandDizzy There are high powered bikes that can reach close to 300 mph and have incredible acceleration, however i agree taking corners like that at 300mph ahahahah, only jets can turn like that - maybe streethhawk would need flaps too. Lets just enjoy this childhood favourite and stop the bickering.

  • lol fast forward

  • While the bike is in Hyperthrust, the computer controls all manouvers. With the integrated 8088 CPU, pro problem. Everything in realtime but no "divide-by-zero error" please :-D

  • I still to this day remember street hawk being over taken by a pick-up truck whilst it was "hyper-thrusting", guess the pickup was another top secret anti crime super vehicle ;p

  • I always wonder as a child how he manage to ride at this speed in rush hour of american cities ??? maybe the machine guns could help

But I also like the show, as child a always wish a collabo betwenn Knight Rider, Airwolf and Street Hawk :D

  • What's scary is that modern superbikes can actually attain those speeds, if not corver at them. ;)

  • after this ...... changing tyres!

  • I hated having to fight with my parents over watching this show back when I was a kid.My dad would always be like "There is no way in hell that guy could ride that bike like that in real life!!" I wanted to tell him it was a tv show not real life.If I wanted to watch real life shit I would have watched the news!!

  • "stain on the wall" mode cleared and counting!

  • imagine a child stepped out in front of him while he was in hyperthrust mode....

  • @keiko909 lol he will be thrown easy to space for NASA work :D

  • Nobody and nothing can go that fast at those kinds of areas, neither a race circuit

  • He only went 183mph with Hyperthrust. He needs a stock ZX-14 or Hyabusa.

  • love it!!!!!!!!

  • yahoooo 171 mph=275 km/h bof

  • im a huge fan...of this.!! lol

  • I used to watch this. Brilliant.

  • Hyperthrust makes you shake your head around

  • coach , i would hate to have to break at 300 miles an hour

  • I always ride at this speed. What's the problem? Yeah, I've killed a few people, but they should have got out the way!

  • hahahahahahaha :P :P hahahahaha

  • Hope no one dropped a banana peel on the road.

  • Hyperthrust!! BEEEEEEEYTCH!!!!

  • Amazing how speeding up the tape was a big special effect back then. OOOOOOOOO...he's going so FAST!!!!!...That's so RAD!

  • its so 1980s

  • Buckle up back there- we're about to go.... hyper active!

  • I can remember the grown folks arguing about how much they hated this show, because a bike, taking a corner at 300 mph, won't be able to take the corners like this bike did. I was like, "Shut up! Who cares!?", cuz I liked the show. It lasted for only a few weeks, but I loved it:)

  • @jarbon5 LOL I know, I was 10 in '86 and I didn't give a crap, I would tell my uncles that he was just holding on, that it was the computer riding.

  • Hahaha, cute:)

  • @joeriginal That's supposedly what was happening according to Norman, the bike's designer.

  • @jarbon5 I agree with you. Them oldsters probably didnt realise that 100 years ago bikes only did about 10mph top! Its all about the technology. I rechon there are bikes that could do this speed, Only there probably Jap and not the American junk we get sold.. I would love to go out with a hyperthrust! weeeee oooooooooo!!!!!

  • @babybrutus I'm with you! I would love to do a hyperthrust on a slalom, that would be the coolest experience in life, well, one of them;)

  • @jarbon5 Sounds like an episode for Mythbusters to take a stab at lol. But agree with you, the physics wasnt the point. It was a fun show back then

  • @DeathscytheRick I'm with ya regard Street Hawk being a fun show, that is:)

  • @jarbon5 Pfft what do parents know. Streethawk coulda done a 90 degree turn at 310mph, cmon its Streethawk =D

  • Anyone ever notice how every show of the 80s seemed to always be based in Cali? lol At least now they try to make it more realistic and show different places! Just funny how the 80s were so corny yet so dang good, no decade since has been that cool! (And dont mention Miami Vice lol)

  • Yeah I used to think as a kid in the 1980s that LA and California were total war zones and full of crazy sht going on.

    Radical times back then...

  • yes the 80s ruled, i thank God everyday i was able to witness this glorious GOLDEN AGE.

  • With the benefit of a little technical education, I think I can now propose what Street Hawk may have done for Hyperthrust:

Link into a GPS system and prepare an obstacle free route, also analyse new info on the fly probably within the range of 100 m each side and calculate the probabilities for the best route.

Such a complex system would be best housed somewhere safe where it would not be exposed to the shocks of the bike, i.e. if it were on the bike.

  • What's the hurry?

  • really miss STREET HAWK epis...

Past memories recollectin in mind ..looking at this ... :D :D

  • haha this hyperthrust sound:D

My Mom always told me to tidy up in Hyperthrust speed...and I did:P

  • he can"t increase his speed in curbs, if it was real, he should be dead, crashing himself into walls

  • awsome great memorys

  • This is utter crap.

Btut when we were kids, this was better than God Himself.

    lol

  • True!!

  • My childhood just flashed past me at the same speed whilst watching this. They don't make 'em like they used to !

  • yea...let streethawk try that now with LA traffic the way it is....

  • Comment removed

  • He can go faster than Valentino Rossi or Casey Stoner!

  • what a lame comparison

  • oh how much we have evolved

  • AHI TENEMOS AL BARCELONA.

  • people people, it dosent matter how he was able to control the bike at that speed, it was the 80's a great decade

  • Don't worry. He didn't control the bike. It was a pre-plotted course set by the computer. All he had to do was hang on during hyperthrust.

  • thats tight, im guessing kitt does the same thing when hes in his super pursuit mode

  • Suicide mode cleared and counting! :)

    Loved this show!

  • That would be funny if he was drinking wine coolers and hyperthrusting. (LOL) ha ha

  • hayabusa is a real motobike

  • maybe he,s not human and he has the reflexs to make turns and stuff!

  • He didn't need reflexes. Hyperthrust was totally computer controlled. All he had to do was hang on.

  • @olternaut Hang on for dear life!

  • the G forces would be too much to whole on at 300 mph and taking turns like that

  • Crips dont get physics involved here. A lot of Teevee watchers cant even spell the word let alone understand the concept. LOL

  • but us who watch this 10 years aga accepted the possiility even today a lot of people would not thank it is possible for a motocyle to go 300 mph or an helechopper to go mark plus my parents back then would never accept these thing

  • Ah but see, you should never underestimate the power of the imagination. Don't tell ten year olds about not being able to withstand the g-forces and turns cause they'll liable to grow up and invent a way of doing just that!

But I guess those ten year old fans of the show are all grown up now. I bet some of em work for DARPA or an unknown agency. Who knows what inventions lurk in some top secret lab somewhere. Perhaps there is a dark rider out there riding at ungodly speeds right this second!

  • people who watch these shows accepted the possibilities and hoped one day they would make motocyes that go 300 mph or a chopper that goes mark one plus if nasa and these old scientist will forget there ways let some of this new tech in to the space program and private sector

  • I hear ya dude. I wish they would let some of this tech make it out before we're too old to enjoy it.

  • ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yes!!!

  • I'm joking, everytime I see hyperthrust I'm ten years old again!

(used to have a streethawk pencil set!)

  • I am not trying to dampen anyone's spirits, but we all need to be aware of the Traffic Laws.

They're for everyone, not just StreetHawk. Now let's just all remember the Highway Code.

    ROFL!!!

  • all this talk about the motorbike going at high speeds and being not possible. who cares back then street hawk rocked!

  • kids i believed to make the same things with my bmx or vtt on the roads

  • maybe he's got sat-nav.

  • I love Sreet Hawk to bits, but lets be honest, hyperthrust would kill you within about 20 seconds! LMAO!!!

  • oh shit, gravel! LMAO

  • I recognize that road. Its in the hills between La Canada and Glendale. I used to drive it every day.

  • ah ouais trop cool ^^

c'était filmé avec une camera qui capture 1 image par seconde il me semble, c'est le même procédé que le retour du jedi, le dernier effet à la mode de l'époque ^^

  • Also, Jesee wasn't in control of Street Hawk in Hyperthrust Mode which is why it had to be called in, instead Street Hawk was piloted by the mainfraim set up in Tuttle's lab.

  • You anorak. :-)

  • is that ghost rider? lol

  • Fuck me, Imagine trying to take a corner at 300mph!!! Why does TV nowadays fade in comparrison to class like this from the 80s

  • ya...thats true ...pure unforgoteble...(~_^)

  • pure genius!!!!

  • dis is so lool

  • Ero piccolo e mio padre vedendo il telefilm insieme a me mi disse, meno male non c'è neanche cane che atraversa la sua strada... hahahaha. Mi a fatto pensare però.

  • I havent read all the comments, but strange the issue of "G-forces" hasn't been raised! Still loved watching it tho!

  • The suit Jesse wore was basically an advanced design on a flight suit which allowed him to withstand the extreme speed Street Hawk could travel in Hyperthrust.

  • Quando ero piccolo urlavo a squarciagola il conto alla rovescia!!!!

  • holy shit...

  • Hyperballs.

  • i can understand the hyperthrust on the straight road but how can a super bike turn at such high speeds. Secondly when i was a kid i knew that it was a fast playback but the music and the bike thrust really got the adrenaline rushing thru me! :xD

  • me too!!!

  • hmm... hypergrip?

  • I distinctly remember an episode where he performs a u-turn while doing Hyperthrust. Awesome.

  • I remember that too, i think he decelerated turned and then went back into hyperthrust.

  • The name of that episode was called "Unsinkable"

  • heheh, loved that show as a kid. It took me about 15 years afterwards to get a bike but I managed it in the end :)

    Hyperthrust rocks!

  • Tangerine Dream rule :D

  • Is it me or does he look like Top Gear's first "Stig"

  • yes

  • lol

  • hayabusa

  • This is what happens when Valentino Rossi sits on a chili pepper! Learn your lesson dammit!

  • oh god I'm crying

  • for the emotion

  • This is so stupid! It was stupid already in the eighties. :) Yet I loved the show as a kid...

  • Classic.

  • street Hawk was such a good show i loved watching street Hawk

  • Look this is an easy trick to perform without any form of cheating....speeding up the camera or otherwise:

Just execute a post-vindaloo and guiness binge power fart whilst riding a 1983 Honda XL500 around some very dodgy looking crime-free scenery.

...and Bob (or in this case, Norman) is yer uncle.

  • no offense but his helmet looks like a vibrator during hyper thrust :)

  • yeah well, you'd know.

  • anyone'd know...gotta be gregorian monk or maybe the amish to not know...so I'm afraid it's fail.

  • lol u funny guy!

  • LOL

  • Was there no traffic in LA during the 80's?? It would only take one Datson to pull out of a driveway...buenas nachos.

  • this is fake, they just speed up tape and thats all.

  • What a cheap trick, people were easily entertained back in the days

  • wow you are really intelligent!

thank you for letting the rest of us dumb know how this trick was made!!!

  • 300 mph road rash! Damn I loved this show.
