Would it not be harder to block the kick if it was a front snap kick? The kick would be significantly faster if it were a snap kick to the shins or groin area.
I defend kicks like this but want to unlearn this if I can. I want to now, bring my knee up, (bong gerk) , or block with a wing chun kick and therefore, still leave my hands to deal with his hands. Sparring with Thai boxers will show you why this approach, in this video, can *in some* cases can have a negative side. Test it.
Doing the 108 got that lower garn sau shape in grained in me. It works for some applications better than others.
what you have said is the same for any and every techique that you will ever learn. its good that your aware of the weaknesses of the technique so that way you can train yourself to use a different technique that would work in that situation so that you'll be prepared. keep on with this i'm sure in the later lessons he will teach you how to cope with the particular situation that your talking about.
