OMFG I cant believe there is a vid of this song. Ill take what i can get of them. MD destroyed me when i first heard them. I lost my tape and now need to find a CD if possible :(
I was very lucky to find a vendor with a copy at the Prog Power fest in Atlanta back in '04 I think it was. I had never heard their music before, but bought the disc only on the strength of things I had read about the band. Also, the huge Scandinavian dude next to me telling me how great and technical the album was. Ha! Glad I bought it.
The original CD is no longer available. If you want that one, you just have to be lucky and find somewhere in second-hand stores or on the internet at auction sites (like e-bay). The remixed/remastered version is available at the mailorder on the official site.
"dances of death" to me, parhaps because it's the first one I bought and still own in vinil. the most precious round piece of shit I've ever held in my hands.
Despite what anyone says, without Frank Fricke and Reiner Kelch on guitars, Mekong Delta is a poor-man's imitation of itself. They are what made Mekong Delta the legend they later came to be. And Doug Lee sucks, in comparison to MD's original vocalist, Keil.
What you are saying is only partially true. Ralf Hubert did NOT write any of the guitar solos on any of the first three Mekong Delta releases, which are unmistakably the work of Living Death's Reiner Kelch, and Frank Fricke. The guitar solos were all composed by self-invented musical geniuses Reiner Kelch and Frank Fricke, who quite "frankly" are far better, and more musically skilled than any other temporary studio musicians in MD's lineup.
Solo's are always difficult to 'compose'. They are more a 'feeling' and can slightly change every time it's played. I'm not denying Frank and Reiner are great musicians, but they were the ones who left, because they could not identify themselves with the music anymore. Ralf did not send them away. Does that mean Mekong Delta has no right to exist anymore?
GREAT SONG&GREAT BAND!But...I have a problem:I've been trying for a long time to recognise the classical piece(valzer-like?) at the end of this song in the studio version(on "The music of Erich Zann" album)...can anybody help me?Forgive my ignorance
It's funny because I just learned myself that a couple of hours before. Then I see you asking what the piece is named and I had the knowledge to answer you. It's really strange.
You have probably read this already on the forum of the official Mekong Delta website, but for the other people who would like to know:
The piece BlackDomeBills is talking about (end of the studioversion of True Lies, just before confession of madness begins, you hear a classical piece presumably coming from a radio) is actually 'Masquerade' by Khachaturian. (Thanks to Prosto for the answer!)
Dance of Death is their best release and of the best releases in heavy metal. The emotion on that disc is incredible and the music itself, is unbelievable.
The singer could no bttr to fit than into this fine disonantic waterfall of tones, the falling stars
lighten this stream of wonderfull sounds. Ok, I am in love with this music ever since it kissed my ear. Tnx for Mekong Delta

I bought the DVD 5-6 months ago from the band's site. I've been wondering what's on Ralph's hand (bass)? Was he injured or is it just a glove?
warwithout 1 year ago
@warwithout: If I'm not mistaken he injured one of his fingers in that period.

Reiner and Frank never wrote any stuff for mekong delta. All music was written/composed by Ralf Hubert.
