This guy looks like an older version of the lead singer from the James Gang. This was a group from the 70's. The lead singer was Jim Walts, thus the James Gang. His voice sounds alot like him also
@psi4rick -you got it right, but...Joe Walsh's the name you're looking for. He was with the James Gang in their first recordings and stablished himself as a voice and guitar to be reckoned in Rock'n'Roll...
Quelle magie!
This must have been somewhat uncomfortable for Joe, out of his element (although he did a great job...nobody should have to try to sing this after Steve Winwood...)
John Barleycorn and other substances nearly killed him. So far he is beating the odds against performers with substance abuse problems.
Although pieces of Traffic are still around, your great sentiment is more "from your lips to God's ear" than probable.
But it would be good.
The flautist Rivera was smart to take the line his own way so he wouldn't be compared to the late Chris Wood. The more melodic and less overtoned sound is really excellent. Quality is where quality exists...
Perhaps the most quirky, un-English-sounding version of this song I've ever heard, and I've heard HUNDREDS of versions.... All that said, Joe Walsh pulls it off somehow, making this song his own, despite it's ancient tradition, and he manages to not only do this song justice, but to perform his own magic on it, and transform it somehow into a uniquely American folk-rock anthem... Wow... He should make an entire album of traditional songs...

If Joe Walsh is on stage it's going to be very good! One of my favorite guitar players and multi talented, as this song demonstrates.

Joe Walsh sang with the Eagles.
