@jcwhitby1 as a goalie the only time you can lose the game is an own goal. if a shot is taken it is your job to do all you can do to stop it but it is the defenses job to stop them from taking shots. i was a goalie for soccer before i switched to lax i don't have the balls to step in the cage haha so my hats off to you guys

@IrishCinema7 Yes, number 16 NAVY makes that critical last slide. Anybody else would plow that guy under with his sholder, but on a break like that a goalie must come out stick-on-stick body-on-body to assure that the ballcarrier is unable to shoot or pass. When a goalie does that, he tends to just crash into him. It gets the ball loose. In this case he gets tangled up. No matter. It's a great turnover!

I'm a goalie as well. I had a play where they came up to the crease, shot 4 times point blank, saved all four, then finally the fifth shot hit the post and went out of play.. And I cant even tell you how many times I get it in the shines haha, I have a bruise the size of two lacrosse balls, that sticks out two inches. Goalies for life haha.

But when you got solid rubber projectiles going in excess of anywhere from 70 to 100mph you got to be crazy to get behind that with the minimum pads that we have. And if you get phased then you will never be a successful goalie. I am glad that people like you are recognizing how demanding this position is and it takes a crazy athlete to do it
