Peaceful assembly - this was peaceful assembly in your mind?? If so, are you related to Nate and teenagevicious who? Their most intelligent comment so far seems to be "shut the fuck up". Hopefully, you have more intelligence than those two fools!!! But, it doesn't seem like it
Anarchy does mean 'no rules' specifically, it means nobody ruling over you.
Anarchy is about recognising that government is responsible for 270 million deaths in the last 100 years alone & that even democratic governments commit massive atrocities (for example America has killed 10 million people abroad since WWII).
Anarchy is about understanding that decentralization of power is the only way to avoid this.
Some of the greatest intellectuals who lived were anarchists.
I don't think this kid speeks for the majority. He obviously is inexperienced and mostly looking for excitement. This is not relative to the point and should not be used to judge the majority.
Hey Joe, are you, teenagevicious and natej69000 brothers??? I would hope that 3 individuals as stupid as you guys come from one family. If not, then I'm not sure what the explanation is for someone whose smartest comment is shut the fuck up!!
chas921, I'm personally a Socialist yet I find the protester's ideals disturbing. Not all, but there are groups who want to establish anarchy. They want no real national government and they somehow expect some sort of Utopian society based upon some philospher from Spain(I think). Also, theres no point in protesting the Democrats because they didn't start the war and they currently don't support it unlike the Republicans. In short, I think the protesters are over reactive in certain situations.
chas921, I think some and not all of them are stupid assholes. I mean alot of people hate the Republicans right now and have good reason to hate them.
And a lot of people hate the Democrats right now and have good reason to hate them. That doesn't give them, or those that hate the Republicans the right to do what these fools do!!! The problem with most people is that they let dislike turn into hate. The problem with anarchists is that they are a bunch of losers. If they got their wishes, they'd be worse off than they are now.
Do you have any understanding of what Anarchists stand for, other than the distortions provide by the mainstream media?
Anarchists are for decentralisation of power, removing the power from the ruling class & placing it back into the hands of the people themselves; self-governance.
Massive organizations such as the State apparatus are too big & too unaccountable to be trusted. The sheer size of the apparatus lends to monumental corruption & massive disregard to human rights.
You seem to have a little more intelligence than teenagevicious and natej69000. You also seem to have a tremendous dislike for the US. Could you please explain self-governance and how it would relate to the day-to-day interaction between individuals? Or, haven't you thought it out that far yet???
I'm pretty sure I put my point forward in an intelligent & articulate manner. You aren't the type of person who insults the intelligence of anyone who doesn't share the same World View as yourself, are you?
I have a dislike for aggressive foreign policy in general, I focus on the U.S. because we tend to ignore the atrocities at the hands of our own Governments.
Self Governance is fairly self-explanatory; the state apparatus could be gradually dismantled & replaced with highly localized democratic institutions where people not only get to vote on a frequent basis on the matters that concern them most, they also get to raise questions & put them to the vote.
The people effectively participate in democracy & politics rather than just becoming spectators & choosing who represents their interests.
The power is effectively localized & decentralized.
When you say state, do you mean the country like in US or do you go down further as into state as in Texas, or just how far down do you take this. If you take highly localized as meaning the city/county/parish level then I do question your intelligence.
Im afraid the city/county/parish level is not far enough.
We are talking street level democracy.
I realize that these concepts may seem alien to you, but the governing class has done everything in it's power to suppress the message of self-government for obvious reasons & so that they seem a bit far out & extreme.
Bear in mind though, some of the greatest intellectuals alive & dead were Anarchist thinkers.
Ok, if the Oak street guys didn't like what the Elm street guys democratically decided and it impacted the Oak street guys, who decides what happens then - the ones with the largest weapons or???? Also, what happens when the worker owned company doesn't make a profit - do the workers get pissed and quit? And if the company continues to lose money and goes out of business, what happens to the workers? Any unions to protect them? No state to provide worker's comp. Insurance????
Well what happens in a democracy currently? Usually only 40-50% of the people vote for the winner of the election. That means 50-60% don't get what they want on nearly EVERY issue, not just one or two separate issues.
With decentralized democracy, Elm Street & Oak Street would either co-operate locally on issues that effect them both, find private mediation or go up to the next level of 'government' that is designed not as an apparatus to govern but to mediate between localized syndicates.
Excellent point about workers becoming unemployed & businesses going out of business.
Firstly, it's one of the reasons why I favour an anarcho-syndicalist approach to anarcho-capitalism, so that some of the more beneficial parts of the State can remain in place; such as welfare & Health (although healthcare doesn't really apply for you in the U.S.).
It is only the parts of the State that deliberately concentrate power, promote authoritarianism & buffer democracy that need be dismantled.
There are many other possibilities of course. Since the current property Laws help keep 70% of the land in the hands of 1% (the rich elite) & effectively deny the public access to the resources on that land, forcing them to work in the employ of the rich as what some would call virtual wage-slaves, the people may decide to put in a compensation scheme.
So that anybody owning more than 2 acres of profitable land has to pay compensation to those without land.
From reading you post I was unaware that there would be a next level of government. Not designed as an apparatus top govern, but to mediate? Then what happens when Elm Street tells them to fuck off? But to you point on the two acre thing - how can that be done if Gov't is down to the street level? And if worker owned companies had more than two acres of ground would they then have to pay compensation to the unemployed or to those who had no land? Health is a beneficial part of the state???
Like I said, you can keep the most beneficial parts of the state in place. Dismantle those that are erroneous, self-serving or counter to democracy. Which parts, would be decided democratically & gradually over a period of time by the people.
Bear in mind, that by it's nature, a self-governing society would be a highly democratic society. The people would shape it's structure themselves. I can't tell you exactly what structures it would take, that would be decided by democracy; real democracy.
Just because democracy is down to street level, doesn't mean that everything else is necessarily abolished. Just that the power resides at the street level; democracy starts from the ground up, not the top down. It may be abolished completely & replaced with temporary arbiters.
I can't say, I'm not a dictator & that is the whole point; the people would decide what was best for them; not the rich elites.
What if elm street, or whoever, loses the vote & tells the others to f*ck off. This will happen, it's a democratic society not a utopia.
If they take actions that break rules as a consequence they will have the courts to answer to. Privately ran courts with multiple judges appointed/hired by both sides (rather than a single judge hand picked from an established elite) could ensure less bias than our current system.
There are many alternatives & proposals for law & order in libertarian lit.
If you don't like the idea of a National Health-care system then you are entitled to vote against it. That's the beauty of REAL democracy. Of course you may lose, but the upside is, that you will get to vote on far more issues & get your way in far more ways than you do currently.
Thankfully, in our country (Britain) everybody loves the Free Health Care, which the people fought & struggled for & WON, inspite of the Corporate Propaganda against it. The media daren't criticize it now!
Free Health Care - explain that please. How do the Drs get paid??? How long does it take to get an appointment with your Dr? Should you need serious surgery, a heart bypass for example, do you have an option as to who will perform the surgery and where it will be performed???
The doctors are paid by the government, through National Insurance, which is a tiered tax system where the poor pay less than the rich.
It is far cheaper than Private Health care & the quality is in many cases as good if not better. In fact, many Private doctors also work for the NHS.
Surgeries & Doctors differ. I changed doctor recently because my old one was useless. My new doctor is fantastic, I can always get in the same day to see him for emergency or in a day or two otherwise.
Not sure about heart surgery per se, but with surgery in general the wait for private is quicker but not always, but you always have the option of going private if you can afford it.
It's not always worth it though, sometimes the wait is the same. All emergency surgery is treated immediately of course.
Overall the quality of private is better than public health, but for my liking the difference isn't worth the extra.
I read an article today, Wall Street Journal, that stated many people are paying for drugs that the health service will not provide. One part mentioned a lady who was told that the health service would not administer the drugs to her even if she bought. After several months, they then told her they'd provide the drugs under the system. By that time, it was too late to help. Oh, and obviously from your description, it is not "Free healthcare".
You are correct that some drugs are not available on the NHS, yes. We only have the application of intellectual property laws on generic drugs to blame for the ridiculous prices the pharmaceutical companies charge, this often after the companies have received public funding too (even in the US).
Yes it isn't truly 'free' health-care, but it does get called that. It's free for those who don't pay tax of course; children, the unemployed, those who's income doesn't qualify them for tax.
In terms of day to day interaction; If an Anarcho-Syndicalist model were followed, worker owned companies would replace present Corporations & Companies.
They would still be private & not State owned, however they are ran democratically from within & everybody gets a share in the profits & so it is in their interests to work hard.
Self-owned Syndicates would create a highly integrated network of interdependent interactivity highly suited to the modern World.
I've seen two comments from you. Where were you when this was going on? Probably waiting for your enemployment check. If you don't have better comments, why don't you shut the fuck up!!!!!!!!!
This comment re two comments was directed to that dickhead teenagevicious. Also, sorry for misspelling unemployment, although he's probably too stupid to notice or even know.
Correct you stupid twit. You were down there doing some shit!!! That shows how stupid you really are. It's a shame your parents didn't believe in abortion!!!!
Gee, that shows a real lack of intelligence! If the shit you were doing had the result you wanted, what would you do then??? You probably don't have a clue. By the way, you are too stupid to be vicious!
Hey lets all go talk to the fricken idiot and put him on camera. Better yet, lets interview him. What a waste of peoples time and taxpayer money having to watch over morons like that.
Yeah i was down there and almost got hit with some shit. so i knocked him down and took a shit on his face and pissed all over him. He didn't like it, i wonder why. If these protesters spent less time smoking weed and getting drunk, maybe they could actually think about something meaning full to protest about. And the reality is most of these people don't vote so they are really just contributing to the problem. Get an education.
are those black things aliens?? is our country under attack ?? big cameras must scare them...
