  • Too bad Juarês gets the end of my favorite stanza (0:43-1:00) wrong:

The stars above in heaven they are looking kindly down

The stars above in heaven they are looking kindly down

The stars above in heaven they are looking kindly down

Upon the grave of old John Brown

  • stop the bus i need a wee wee

stop the bus i need a wee wee

stop the bus i need a wee wee

and the driver needs one to

  • "They hung him for a traitor, they themselves the traitor crew"

  • Calling John Brown a terrorist from our perspective, nearly 150 years after the raid, is narrow minded. He was a hero to many during that time frame. This song was used as a marching hymn by the Northern soldiers who fought and died to ensure that the Union, dedicated to the proposition that ALL men were created equal, would endure. Brown wasn't the terrorist. Rather it was those supporting the foul institution of slavery that were terrorizing the spirit of the American republic.

    "They hung hi

  • John brown was a psychopath.Killing fathers in front of their families? come on now...

  • @miteyboosh23 he didn't kill them in front of their families. google "pottawatomie killings." learn your history, bigot.

  • @Qazaq lmao even if he didnt kill them in front of their families hes still a terrible human. He massacred even minor slaveholding families all across souther kansas. If you think slavery is wrong, murder is much worse, bigot.

  • @miteyboosh23 Sorry, I've got no sympathy for slave owners or their families, they got what was coming to them.

  • wrong john brown! The john brown referenced is a sergeant in the 12th masachussets regiment who died at Bull Run.

  • @liberatordude1988 if you read the history, John Brown from the Massachusetts regiment was made fun of because of John Brown the abolitionist. so NO, it is not wrong John Brown

  • its a good thing for a black man to sing john browns song.i want to talk to him when i get to heaven and tell him thank you sir

  • John Brown was the Scott Roeder/ Bill Ayers of his day. His cause was noble but his actions were misguided to say the least. People like him hurt their own causes.

  • "I learnt that everybody is FREE" God bless his memory!

  • Vitat John Brown and his heritage! Even today his message is topical.

  • wrong. take a look at his actions and what they truely did. he is not a hero but not a monster he is a man in his time that acted with what he had around him

  • @flashfan2 go fuck a horse. he knew the only way that blacks were going to be free would have to be through war. he fought to the death for the freedom of EVERYBODY. saying he is a monster is like saying that your god is a asshole.

  • Glory, glory, hallelujah!

  • John Brown's body lies a-mouldering in the grave, John Brown's body lies a-mouldering in the grave,

John Brown's body lies a-mouldering in the grave, But his soul goes marching on.

    Glory, glory, hallelujah,

    Glory, glory, hallelujah,

    Glory, glory, hallelujah

    His soul goes marching on.

  • John Brown was the greatest American hero, and fuck anyone who still thinks of him as "controversial". He died so that men may be free.

  • @3SirCrimson3 And who was the first man that was killed in his raid on Harpers Ferry?

  • He was a terrorist, and I'm glad they hanged him.

  • Excellent rendition by Juarês and Lazaro!

  • Great song but he looks funny when he sings

  • Great song, but do they forget that although John Brown tried to rally them to freedom, they ignored him? He pretty much failed miserably because no slaves would join him.

  • Great song, the melody and wording makes a good combination to something I would otherwise fail to see any nice hymn to.

  • god bless America and bless the black community.

  • beautifully done

the Battle hymn of the republic is derived from this song

and they stole the freedom theme from the abolitionists

Canadians are proud to have been apart of the under ground railroad and the abolitionists that attacked Harpers ferry.

    nicely done

John brown's body is a molding in the ground but his truth goes marching on.

  • good song - would love to hear it will all of the verses

John Brown's body lies a-mouldering in the grave

He's gone to be a soldier in the Army of the Lord

John Brown's knapsack is strapped upon his back

John Brown died that the slaves might be free

The stars above in Heaven now are looking kindly down

  • i like it so much

  • It's the song Manchester United have based their song "Glory, Glory Man United" on... x)

  • Rolf Zuckowski translate this song in german with other text. It call "Alle Kinder lernen lesen." ^^

  • Great performence by both the Vocalist and the Pianist.

  • Have you considered doing "Keep Your Lamps" (trimmed and burning! The time is drawing night) I cant remember who its by...

  • Perfect voice for this important historical tune.

  • Thanks for posting. I am researching the versions of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" and it is nice to hear them all done by nice singers such as this ^__^
