  • This scene made me jump.

  • I have the UNCUT Arbogast murder on my channel!

this is the DVD, Blu-ray VHS version, sadly cut!

I have the lost version, uncut, unrated from Germany, with more knife wounds.

    more stabs

sorry for my english, I am from Austria

  • If this made you people jump, then you should NOT watch Paranormal Activity

  • @Epikkfailyurr I seen all 3 in the cinema.

I liked them but they weren't scary and the audience were really annoying screaming at everything.

But yeah NOT SCARY AT ALL but fun and a good movies(s)

  • i LOLed so hard at 1:20 like if you agree

  • Thumbs up if this is way scarier than the " shower scene ".

  • @MrS98VAC Definately. Whenever the movie Psycho comes up in conversation, people always talk about the shower scene. To me, Aborgast's death was always way scarier. I don't know why.

  • This was uploaded on my 12th birthday.

  • When I first saw this movie, I already about the shower scene, and was like "Ehhhh."

THIS however, really messed with me.

  • This is back when horror movies were worth watching. All of these movies like Saw, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on whatever street it is, just ruined the genre. War, action and comedy movies are still my favorite :)

  • even though i knew he was gonna die, i still jumped when i saw this scene

  • Amazing. This really is scary and ive seen a LOT of scary movies. I bow down to you Alfred Hitchcock.

  • I swear the inside of this house looks the same as the one on exmortis!?

  • I wish I could fall down the stairs so gracefully

  • The violins add to the shock value. Can't get over it.

  • Hilarious how he walks down the stairs.

  • @RDBeatnik Silence of the hams made a funny parody of this fall. =D

  • So much like recent job interviews I have had.

  • This scene SUCKS in the 1998 version, and with the effects they are just trying to recreate EXACTLY what happened in the original. They do that through the whole movie and this one stays superior.

  • @Jay97791 Yeah, the 1998 version of this scene is completely HORRIBLE.

  • I've always thought this scene was more frightening than the famous shower scene. After seeing it on TV as a kid, I was afraid to go upstairs to bed at night for weeks!

  • Did you know that Hitchcock did not want music for the shower scene (im unsure if it was for the whole movie) but Bernard Herrmann begged him after.

  • @Gencturk92 Yes, I've heard that. Thank goodness Hermann won out, because it just wouldn't be the same without that now iconic theme!

  • @hallieboy Ditto, though maybe the shower scene didn't scare me as much because, well, everyone who hasn't seen the movie at least knows the shower scene already.

P.S, because it needs to be said one more time: Psycho is the greatest horror movie ever made.

  • That's one of my favorite scary movies. My grandmother saw this almost 51 years ago.

  • @MyRock2011 you are your grandmother

  • i think there is a mistake in this scene, because arbogast walks into the house and goes upstairs while bates should actually make the bed in one of the rooms of the motel (you can see that while atbogast comes back to the hotel) so bates can't killed him

  • Scariest part in the movie

  • This always gives me shivers down my spine seeing this it is so amazing! Horror now days is just blood and guts!

  • We watched this in film class today and this part scared all of us. After this scene ended we all looked at each other with looks that said "Omg that actually freaked the hell out of me."

  • this is the reason why im scared to snoop around in other peoples houses.

  • Amazingly shot

  • I always thought this scene had much more of an impact than the shower scene. To me this murder is the more shocking one, people mostly think of the shower scene being the most frightening but I think this and the end when Norman comes running in the fruit cellar (with that psycho grin) is more scary.

  • @1985browneyedgirl the part that always got me suspenseful was where the sheriff tells the two people,

"well if that woman up there is Miss.Bates, then who's that woman buried in the cemetery for ten years"

  • @Gencturk92, ooh yeah me too, that scene has a eerie feeling when he says that - really creepy!

Shows what a pro Hitchcock was - knew how to scare with words as well as action.

  • i laughed watching this it is so funny

  • this is not scary compared to movies out now, i would let a 7 year old watch this

  • @MissJamin2 Horror movies out now are shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit oh and shit. Not the most mature response, but thats how I feel.

  • @ellbo2, lol your comment funny but indeed true. Films like Psycho are classic horror.

  • @ellbo2 You and a lot of other people!

  • @MissJamin2 You're a moron. The horror movies over yesteryear were about actually scaring people. The movies that pass for horror these days are about grossing people out.

  • I'd stab myself having to watch this scary part again.

  • we watched this in Spanish class and when Norman who dressed up as his mother popped up its scared me i jumped and screamed everyone noticied it

  • Man idk why, but everytime I watch this movie, this scene always scares the hell out of me haha, but this movie is a masterpiece, if not, one of the greatest movies ever made...and I'm 18 haha, and I love Alfred Hitchcock's films :D

  • needed this for school. thanks

  • Any link to watch this movie?

  • Nice.

  • the grossest part is the noise they made by stabbing a watermelon with a kitchen knife.

  • its not scary its funny just the way he falls down the steps does anyone agree haha

  • @mattybobs94 try watching the film, in context it becomes less funny

  • @SUPERMEDIABROTHERS6 @ellbo2 i watched it all the way through the only scary bit is the end where the woman is in the house and norman goes running in have you seen psycho 2 and 3 there more scary than this i think

  • @mattybobs94 Try to remember it is 50 years old on, what on earth were you expecting? Avatar like effects?

  • @ellbo2 i watched it all the way through the only scary bit is the end where the woman is in the house and norman goes running in have you seen psycho 2 and 3 there more scary than this i think

  • scary sequence, even after 50 years. Classic movie. the sequels which followed were also good, if not great, as they continued the story of Norman Bates, and provide a satisfying conclusion. i read that the shot-for-shot remake stinks.

  • @BibleJoker2Face me 2 1998 SUCKS

  • like i said in another video after watching this i was always afraid to take a shower and go up the stairs.

  • Still scary, after all these years.

  • @McGuywer

I agree. 50 years old this year and still packs a punch.

  • @McGuywer

    One of my favorite movies.

After 50 - 51 years PSYCHO was, still, & always will be a,

    CLASSIC MASTERPIECE.

  • this made me JUMP!

  • The shower scene freaked me out, but didn't scare me because everybody knows what happens there. (God knows it's been parodied enough times.)

But when I saw this part, as soon as the music started, I almost jumped out of my seat. Even though you see the door opening, you still get scared.

  • @DarkBeauty911 yeah, I remember feeling like that. First saw this movie in class and totally wasn't expecting this

  • @b0b1919 me to, professor turned it up really loud

  • oh, when that door opens a crack....so scary still!

  • Wow, this is most excellent. Thanks for uploading!! ;D
