ok cool so that means that no matter which inversion it is if you drop the 2 it will always be considered drop 2. And does it change the way the chord is written as all so instead of being CMaj7 would it be written some other way?

Drop 2 voicings are usually on adjacent strings.

Drop 3 voicings usually include a skipped string.

Closed voicings are often a 'bear' to play, but not all of them are so, and many of them sound great ! Good Lesson well explained.
