  • Pretty good game nice :) if you would just make it online/multiplayer :D it would be PERFECT :D

  • EAR RAPE!!!!!!!!!!1

  • play "breaking the rules", it' s far more better than this

  • This is great! Can you explain which 3D software did you use to make the models, what format you saved them, what language/SDK did you develop the game with and how did you load the 3D files in there ?

  • This is the coolest thing I have ever seen!! Way to go guys!!

  • Can someone get this game and edit it to make it an online multyplayer. That will be cool.

  • super mario is better lol

  • fuckin lame

  • I think it has promise. I would like to see lots of customization. Armor and weapons based on history and from the lands conquered by Rome. A crowd meter would be cool too - maybe a bonus to exp or more money at the end of a fight in order to buy armaments. I know this may exceed time and budget for a school project but just ideas for a future game.

  • damn looks good, good job u guys!

  • can i play this with my geforce fx 5500 256mb

    and 512mb ram

    pentium 4 3ghz

    service pack 3

  • system requirements please!..........

  • Is there an website so i can get my 6:37min back ?

  • what is this game called

  • When a certain part of the body is struck, then that part should be less usable. If you're going for "realism" then go all out. Even if the fights are very, very, short. That's the reality of Blood Sport.

  • for what is this? Is that an handy game?

  • its got potentional

  • did u use xna and microsoft visual studios?

  • You did the thumbs up/down wrong. ;)

down means to let them live, up is to kill

  • @ogias

Up is to live, Sideways means to kill.

  • Lol!

    Funny game.

  • is this free or a game to buy ?/

  • Wait... wait... wait... two months of designing?

You mean the gamedesign? I certainly hope not.

  • this is the best selfmade game iv'e ever seen Nice

  • i downloaded the game and i thought it was great im just curious where you started out was it before college or something, making games is my calling i just dont know where to start any tips would be great

and the vid has an error might need to re-upload it

a response would be greatly appreciated

  • Well I'm sure each member of our group has a different story. As for me, I worked at an EB Games / Gamestop all throughout high school because of my love for games. Following that I took some courses at a local community college for programming. It was interesting, but extremely boring doing things like bank software, etc.

After that, just went down and took the game development course at Full Sail University.

  • @KeeperOfFate

Thats what i want to do (the whole working at EB Games/ Gamestop before going to college to major in game design part)

  • the setting is obvius and doesn't seem creative at all.

However, the most important thing is the design and it doesn't really have a theme..

I mean slashing your opponent is fine but..

It lacks something fun to do however you do it. most games have atleast one special feature like jumping really high, run very fast, play with fysics and stunts, run on walls or having bullet time.

Example for a suitable feature: Being able to dislimb each other.

for 5 months work this is really bad.

  • looks great i'm downloadin it now, hope i can play it with my keyboard and mouse XD

  • how did you download it..please tell me

  • Great game you guys I wish i could make a game this awesome. I only have some basic games in c# and just some basic programs in c++.

  • Check out my videos to see what kind of a tech demo 1 guy can create in his spare time. This is good work BTW. I think an easy way to do player vs player collisions is put small bounding spheres at their bones and do sphere/sphere intersection tests, and your ground is flat. What other collision detection do you have (swept sphere, SAT)?

  • We actually didn't do any sort of collision. Because it was a 1 on 1 fighting game, we based everything on the animation. It was simple a distance check and a dot product to ensure you were facing your enemy.

Works perfectly for 1-1 fights - no false collisions far more efficient since you skip out on all the collision checks each frame. Of course, this method only works for certain situations.

  • hahhahahahhahha, funny game ;p

  • we who are about to die salute you more like we who will fight wish to kill you

  • I was just using world of goo that ecxellent games can be made with low budget and not a lot of people to work with.

But this is still great for students, don't get me wrong :P Did you get grades for this btw?

Anyway what are you going to do now? Try to find work at a game developer or something? Must be a great job :)

  • the idea is good, but it looks awful

  • it cool but it needs to be on ps2 and taller people

  • fuck ps2 its going on xbox or pc

  • you can download this?

  • they've imported the models and animations?

  • how did you make the intro?

  • Im suprised the blue one didnt stab him at 1:27

  • :DDD

  • i have a question dude are there any other characters(like a trident or somthing else) in the game or is it only 1 :).

PS: I love it it is preaty cool :) (by the video) i am gona test it soon :)

  • hmmm with some work this game could be pretty epic

  • Shit man that looks tight. Any way I can download it? If you still working on it, all you need is to be able to buy weapons or pick up enemy weapons and the game would be the bomb. Another idea would be limbs being choped off. MDickie's games did that. Like World War Alpha. Anyway I would play that man.

  • Hey YassnG. Thank you very much. There's so many stuff that we really want to add or change on this game but all of us already parted our ways and some of us already have jobs so this is pretty much as far as it gets. But i really appreciate your comment and suggestions though. I don't have the game hosted somewhere right now but if you like i can upload it somewhere and send you a download link. :) Just send me a message with your email if you.

  • What is the develop tools needed?

  • could i have alink this game looks sick

  • @bitcouch hey is there any games like this on ps3 that you know of?

  • look at description dude :D

  • Just saw that thanks, Wasnt up there before lol.

  • wow very cool game!

congratz to the 5 students keep with the good work :D

  • um.. that "game" looks horrible. I mean, the only good thing I can say about it is you have a decent sword-swinging animation. if it was just supposed to be a melee-combat demo than i guess that might be cool??.. but I don't see how that can be called a game... walk up to this dude and swing your sword at him repeatedly.. at the very least you'd think there was a special move... SOMETHING to break up total repetition and involve the player in a meaningful way.

  • Hi grav04330. Thanks for your comment :). It may not look much of what you were expecting but you have to understand that we only have 5 months to work on this project. 2 months initial design and the remaining 3 for the production. We had SO MUCH that stuff that we really want to add in this game but because due to lack of resources and time we had to cut almost 90% of our original ideas and 75% of what we design based on our design document.

  • Not only that we were only given one art director to provide ALL the textures, meshes, animations, and what not. And our art director was also busy working on 5 other teams. It was also really hard for us not getting the other character in game and the remaining 76 attack animations and special combos. If you haven't read the desciption this is only a student project. Not a horribly failed commercial game.

  • Actually, I lied about the 2 months design 3 months production thing. It was actually less (more like 1.5 and 2.5 months) because we had a few days off and milestone deliverables. And lastly we made ALL of our systems from scratch.... It's quite amazing that I had a chance to work with the guys who also developed this game with me. They were really enthusiastic, optimistic, talented, and fun to work with.

  • Trying 2 make the render engine, animation, shader system, AI, collision, sound system, menu system, combat and combo system all from scratch and balancing out the gameplay and all that was really hard for a very short period of time. It would have been better if we already had a third-party game engine at our disposal. But we didn't because we really wanted to gain more experience and understanding working on not only high-level(gameplay) stuff but also the low-level technicalities as well.

  • oh btw, it's quite funny that you mentioned about the decent sword swing animation koz if you look closely it actually looks like the gladiator has a shattered/crippled arms or something. lol

  • sorry grav04330... I just had it in me for a while now i guess.... We had a lot of hiccups when we were developing this game.

  • Can you tell me how to add shadowing affect?

  • U look horrible bitch, dont diminish someone elses work because you have no talent of your own

  • Looks REALLY good for only 5 months of work. I can see where some things could be improved like the lighting was a little too bright in some places and I'd probably dim it down and maybe some customization for your character. Other than that, I'd love to play this game.

  • is there a public client for the game? i would really like to download and try it! thanks :)

  • awesome! (hi bitcouch :D )

  • Hey Sean. Thanks for commenting and nice knowing you. :)

  • wat game is it

  • is this from the movie with maximus?

  • holy shit this game looks fucking OFF THE CHAIN. ima go buy it when it gets released from like fucking BIOWARE MAN!

  • wow great game

  • Ok, so what type of jobs/companies do Full Sail students that go there for Game Development land?

  • Like bitcouch said, it depends on the students. We had plenty of lamers who failed quickly out, we had plenty of people who did "just good enough" and are now heading back home, happy to have blown their parents money, and then we have students who have worked their asses off, learned more about coding & game development than any other school could teach them, and have landed jobs in nearly every company throught the game or simulation industries.

  • Pretty sure that looks like the single best game ever created. Thank god that bitchin' Kent Gambill guy worked on it!

  • OMG The sounds in this game are freaking incredible!!!

  • Psh... if there's one impressive thing about this game, it's those particles. The dude who did the particle effects must have been some programming god or something..... (shhhh this is not Andrew....honest )

  • lol seconded

    you probably don't remember me...

Great work! Congrats to all of you!

Greeting from Uruguay by the way :P
