  • We can knock it of course anyway.

  • 2036 was calculated date Apophis meteor strikes earth. So anyone think we'll have long range lasers by then.... simply fly out and slice and dice the thing..

or even more simple, throw a rope around it and drag it outta the way lol 3billion tons in space = 0 only gotta move it an inch when its really far away

  • hey everyone look closley apophis did not hit

  • what program is this?

  • Closest pass is 0.142 AU = approx 18 x the distance from earth to the Moon. The oject Apophis is quite small and therefore may only cause a tiny gravitational blip as it passes.

  • last I read it was 1:250,000

  • no its 1 to 45000

  • 3 to 100

  • Probable it is more!!! 13 years as old German schoolboy has proved that chance 3 to 100

  • @Evrovidenie

    It's 1 in 300 you idiot.

  • @TyrantTG002 No it's 1/500,00. Idiot.

  • @JordanWells15 What?

  • that was a funny thing.

He just played around with numbers and calculated with them. The teachers heard from it , sent it to government, which sent it again to the NASA.

When the boy heard that he was right:

,, Um , well I just calculated the risk of apophis , and the NASA says im right !''

    xD

  • the apophis is actuall ment to come near us in april 2026 at that day we'll have around a 3 in 100 chance of it entering our orbit and creating a massive disaster

  • @wezno3 i thought is was 2029?

  • Risk

  • i dont know what to belive 2012 or 2036? this is just all fucked up nothing will hapend everyone tries to make us worry all our fucking life so we cant live life shit heads

  • @tandis97

well at least you have a choice!

  • @tandis97

2012 is made up. 2036 has legitimate proof that this could happen.

  • i almost hope this happens what a fucking way to die, i'll be older then so who gives a shit

  • Yaaaay!We wont die xDD

  • Things change.

  • there will problary BE 10+ BILLION PEOPLE ON EARTH

1/25,000 chance of it even hitting us at all

  • that like there is look like is not touching earth, i think is going miss us

  • people have tendency to visualize what would movie portray. But in real entrance to the Earth atmosphere would be like a very bright burning light. Its impact will devastate area of 1000-1500 miles. But the biggest damage will result not from ground zero but from wave of vibration which will at last bring down the slope of volcano island La Palma. Far regions of coastal area of Eastern American continents, exactly. Supersonic wave will reach NY within 7 hours. Height will be 100 meters.

  • you mean 1000-1500 square miles....theres a huge difference

  • I mean (sorry ) Tsumani wave originated from island La Palma will hit East Coast of Americas. It can end the life of 20-25 million people in USA, only. Imagine 30 million people evacute same time since Supersonic wave is approaching anouncement aired. First 2 hours seismologist will linger about effect loosing precious time. 5 hours left people will start panic. Anybody who left behind within 20 miles have sure fate coming. Traffic is dead slow. Who can run to mountain should run. Wave 100 meter

  • ah no, that astoraid can kill 6 billion people, is didn't matter where it hit, is will oven the glore

  • considering you can't even speak proper english I somehow doubt you're one of the fields foremost experts.

  • lagg

  • Oops and when i say "so do the planets" i mean planet earth and the asteroid Apophis.

  • The only time you would see a collision between the two is when the Light blue line turns to dark blue at the exact same time as intersecting earths orbital path. When you watch this and follow the date on April 13 2029 they actually do meet and so do the planets (however it will still miss us by 1000's on km)

  • Its an orbit simulator and is really fun to watch i have it bookmarked on my other cpu, i dunno why he showed this part of the orbit. If you look at the asteroids orbit it follows a light blue line and dark blue, Light blue represents when its plane is abover earths orbit and dark blue for below. It looks like the 2 orbits meet but if you tilt it, you see at that intersection, the asteroid is well below earths orbit (passing underneath us).

  • Whats the name of that program? is it freeware?

  • turkey shit dont work.!!!!!!!!

  • @mohsan132456 haha you must be dutch

  • men no way we get owned

  • Additional observations of the trajectory of Apophis revealed the keyhole would likely be missed and on August 5, 2006 Apophis was lowered to a Level 0 on the Torino Scale. As of October 19, 2006, the impact probability for April 13, 2036, was calculated as 1 in 45,000. An additional impact date in 2037 was also identified; the impact probability for that encounter was calculated as 1 in 12.3 million.

There's nothing to worry about lol

  • sorry people this one sizewise only 350-400 meters. Will be total destruction where it fell but not in entire world. Impact of 500 miles total death and 3000 miles of ruins only. 5500 miles of broken windows, and worldwide landslides and tsunami all over oceans and seas, only. Oh yeah, whoever can see the object at impact will go blind and worst degree of burns. 15 years of lasting economic misery. But will recover fast due to less populations on earth. Those will live happier sometime after.

  • hahaha such enthusiasm :)

  • remember the GEORGIA GUIDESTONES......what was that magic number of earthly inhabitants we were supposed to have?

  • Diameter: 320-400 million

    Mass (est.) 50 million tons

    Eccentricity: 0.191

    Semi-major axis: 0.922 AU

    Perihelion: 0.746 AU

    Aphelion: 323.59 days

    Inclination 3.33 Deg

    there ya go

  • sorry rong video lol

  • u will find out that 99942 orbits the sun so yea this is rong

  • OF COURSE SIZE MATER

  • does any of you know if it's possible to watch comets and asteroids on google earth?

    I tried, but I didn't manage

  • Okay, I'm sure scientists will do their best to figure out a way to prevent us form being wiped away from Planet Earth, But, in any case, if this more than 10-kms big asteroid crushes on earth, where will that be? That's the key point. Because if it its the more than 70% water part of our planet, giant waves will rise and where people will be, they will die in 1 second and it'll be a blast. If it hits earth instead, thinsg will get seriously terrible cuz there will be debris, fires etc.

  • in any case, it would mean a serious amount of catastrophes on the globe but not total extinction like they make us believe with those CGI armageddon-related videos here on youtube. Those asteroids in the simulation are big like planets. This one in 2036 is only about 10 kms.

  • The size it not what matters

  • That aint quite true. Apophis is not 10km in diameter. Its 300m. In order for a asteroid to cause global damage, it would need to be 3-4km in diameter. The one that hit us 65million years ago, was 15km. Apophis is able to destroy a little country or a big city. It wont cause any global damage.

  • at first it was 1 and 40 now its like 1 in never

  • tristar1215 the terino scale doesnt exist either, I'll think youll find its the TORINO SCALE. Learn how to spell before trying to educate us you muppet.

  • That would impact because of the gravity of the comet and earth.

  • no, and nope. one, the gravitational pull is still a little smaller that what you think. it looks ver close on this video but it'll be kilometers away, not alot but enough to avoid the gravitational pull. there will always be a risk. but if everything stays on course, we'll just have a nice night show. by the way, it's an asteroid, not a comet

  • Thanks, but.. If that was a real map of the solar system I think the earth would be larger and the ASTEROID* would maybe hit earth? And "kilometers away" doesn't sound safe.

  • you make a good point, i guess we wont really know till the dude date right

best hope it just passes us by haha

  • I'd like it to be a few kilometers instead of on top of my ass at supersonic speed

  • yeah...

  • ok do u guys no what the terino scale is well its a scale with diferent levels /colours for how dangerouse the chance of something hitting anyways apophis was given a level 2 in 2004 apophis now is a zero on the terino scale is will miss us also planet x does not exist

  • yup

  • who am I?

  • 270s is like smaller than my street :| i wouldnt be surprised if half it got burnt up in our atmosphere lol

  • epic miss

  • Gay

  • yeah it's 270m large and it has the power of 29.6 of the strongest nuclear weapons (zar-bomb from Russia) but the impact risk is about 0.0022% - 0.0045% so don't cry!

  • The end begins..........

  • its 270 meters

  • Woohoo its gonna be a close one.

  • i mean our technology then (if nibiru in 2012 is fake- which it is...) can blow it up cant it? i mean we have a while before it hit's us...

  • if you blow it up all the fragments will still hit earth

  • but the fragment might be small engh to burn up in the earths atmosphere its better then nun =/ T_T

  • Would nibiru blow up from a nuke in the first place

  • Nibiru is not an asteroid u numbnut ... its a planet ... or a dwarf star or whatever they want to call it ...

PLUS it hasnt even been proven yet ..

Great, some jap got excited with his colleagous and made a theory ...

    Guess what ...

Before they launched the first Nuke they thought it was going to burn up the atmosphere or worse, just keep multiplying and create a neverending explosion ...

Well we saw Hiroshima, it just boomed ones= THEORY WAS WRONG !!! Same here ... Theories are guesses ...

  • good point

  • it don't blown up at the atmosphere,, it is to big to that,, look at self att Nasa's homepage

  • Ok quick question. lets say in 2036 it misses us. *yay* make it national "wow close one dude" day. but would it boomerang back at us a third time. since our gravity would still be pulling it. So if we dont destroy it technically wont it hit us sooner or later. getting closer and closer. unless acted upon by another force.

  • the more time, the more things we can come up with to stop it

  • it missed earth in 2029

  • you can see into the future? nice...

  • actually ionavalanche, the will predict if it will hit earth or not in 2026. It will definitely miss earth in 2029, but if it will HIT earth in 2036, nobody knows.

  • its a 1 in 1.2 million chance in 2036 :)

  • erm no its not, its more like a 3% chance it will hit. They actually calculated it to be one in 40 chance, if it hits one of earths hundreds of satellites in 2029 which will then alter its trajectory and increase the possiblity to one in 40

  • How do you know that? I have heard it's 1 in 46.000, but can you give me information about 1 in 1.2 million?

  • dude there are so many predictions on what the chances of this happening are i dont even pay attention to it anymore beside this is 20 years in the future so i wouldnt worry about it until it looks like itll actually do something

  • No they dont neet to cause you see that movie deep impact or something or armageadon that it split up in 2 parts and we where screwed xD

  • the earth will slam in it :|

  • The sky is falling!!! The sky is falling!!!

Seriously - the world could end tomorrow, the next day, the next year, or the next century. Instead of worrying what MIGHT happen, live life today. Oh, and hope that when the end comes (if it does) that it is quick and relatively painless.

  • that is like the best thing i've ever read on youtube...seriously i agree 100%. Why shit bricks over something you can't control and live your life in fear. Just live everyday to the fullest and die happy.

  • Carpe Diem! Seize the day!

  • I prefer Carpe Noctum :)

  • Apophis can be studied and planned for. Theres a chance it can be avoided. Its not like we're worrying about things like what if i get run over by a drunken driver.

  • Yeah thats fine - I would like scientists to do just that. My point is the all the videos on here about Apophis and the world ending in 2012 because of the Mayan calender and stuff like that - there is just too much mass panic about stuff like this. As I said, the average person (not the scientists-that their job) needs to just relax a little and stop worrying about whats going to happen years from now, and enjoy today because when it comes down to it they wont be able to do anything about it.

  • so many people get wrapped up in these doom and gloom stories. If its gonna happen theres not a lot you can do about it. My advice; go out and enjoy yourself and stop waiting for the sky to fall in, chicken licken

  • We are semi more screwed now by our own doing. A German 13 year old schoolboy (Smarter than all of Nasa) proved that there is a 1 in 450 chance that the Apophis asteroid will collide with Earth by 2036 on its second pass. Not 1 in 45,000 as previously predicted.

  • not true! both nasa and esa have refuted his calculations. I just read about it about 5 minutes ago on yahoo.com

  • agreed!

  • lets make a huge trampoline so it bumps back to space:D

  • @Kristjan597 Or start hoping that 2012 is real so we don't have to worry for another... uhm.. 24 years or so...

  • @Zapust well yeah but none of them aint real an asteroid can drop anytime noone cant say when something is gonna drop here its all fake

  • @Kristjan597 That was a joke ;P I wasn't serious..

  • o k i l wait 792 years lol

  • wtf i dont get it

  • wait for 792 years, then there is a something you can call a RISK, (Asteroid (29075) 1950 DA)

  • Fondare good point. in 2880 there will be a asteroid to hit earth exactly on March 16th. It is in almost exact rotation as the earth to the sun. Of course there is only a 1 and 300 chance unlike that 1 and 41,000 chance.

  • We must consider two things.

First: These are just measurements done nearly 800 years before the event. NASA keeps a good estimate on stuff, but when you are calculating stuff THIS early, the uncertanity region is REALLY LIKELY to be as wide as to have a chance of 1 in 300.

Second: IF human race survives until 2880 (Which, well, I can't quite imagine humanity on 2880), I could bet that they could deflect an asteroid with the blink of an eye. Thing about it, we can do it now.

  • listen kids ,tha orbit of this thing may change in 20 years who knows..well send chuck noris up in a spaceship 2 sort it out lol...besides i hav a very big peni s

  • First designated 2004 MN4, 99942 Apophis belongs to the Aten asteroids group, and orbits the Sun in 323 days. Apophis is only 400 meters long, this is large and dangerous but no so large as shown in this video! Its path will bring it across Earth's orbit twice in 2029 and 2036 later this century. The 2029 pass will deviate the orbit due to Earth's gravity and new calculations will be needed to determine the 2036 passage...

  • hello all - ps3forever360nvr - your way wrong the chances for an impact to planet earth is 1 to 40,000

  • I thought it was a 1 in 45,000 chance...

  • isnt that same as the risk of having a car crash on the road or something?

  • No, the odds of having a car crash on the road is 1 in 6000, which are much more higher odds than Apophis slamming against the Earth.

  • its going to hit 1 in 5000 so there is a chance that we will surivive just pray guys pray!!

  • .034 AU?! Come on, larger asteroids passed at closer distances and we're still alive and kickin'

  • why are people so scared of death, its gona happen later anyway.

  • We REALLY GO TO SURVIVE??

    :D

That Stipid thing will go to sleep? :D

Or we go to die? :(

  • Besides, we can just duck and cover under our computer desks. Yeah. Then we're alright.

  • first Nostradamus said 2011, then that got pushed back to 2012 by the Mayans...now it's 2036.

Guys....guys.....make up yer fookin' minds awreddie!

    Mine is scrambled eggs now.

  • 2012 = Fake

    2029 = Wont hit

    2036 = 90% chance it won't hit

This generation = Earth will survive

    Now go to bed!

  • Don't forget The Lucifer Project. That's suppose to depopulate the planet by 80% in July of this year. So, technically it's 2008.

  • i don't understant you...

Did you really think the Earth will be destroyed by Apophis?

  • So Your Saying We are Going to survive this Generation till we Die Naturally?..

    Thank God!

Thank You FOr a Positive Comment =)

    You really Helped me there

  • Look at Mars running away like the pussy that she is!

  • lol

  • Asteroid hitting the Earth? Not a chance, Chuck Noris will back hand it into oblivion! Just kidding, i heard on tv years ago that even a dust cloud could move an asteroid.

  • Keep on waiting for an asteroid to hit the Earth...we are all going to get old and die until that unlikely day!..because that's the truth we have to live get old and die one after one....not all together...egoists! ;)

  • Hopefully It hits us.

  • in bruce willis we trust...

  • don't worry.Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck will handle this.

  • its 2036 theres going to be a flyby next tuesday

  • IMAO!!!

  • Here are the facts bottom line...

There is this asteriod named Apophis and it is STILL considered a 'near earth object'. In 2029 with the projected path of it, it will come so close to the Earth that it will dip below our communication satilite and MISS us..But if it hits a 'keyhole' (where the earth's gravity is) there is a 1 in 45,000 chance it will hit us in 2036. The odds are highly in our favor. Besides this asteroid WILL NOT CAUSE EXTINCTION!

  • don't worry we will die in 9 days jan,29,2008

  • Im getting a little confused hear watching all these apophis videos. Is the darn thing "predicted" to hit us in 2029 or 2036? I heard it was going to "skim" PAST us, between earth and our satalites in 2029, and come back around for 2036 and strike? Something like that... I guess no one really knows fact right now...

  • impact probability for April 13, 2036, is estimated at 1 in 45,000

  • guys, don't panic^^. the probability of apophis hitting the earth is about 2,7022% (2,7% in 2029 and 0,0022 in 2036/37)

  • what 'the' apophis 'the' apophis, its Apophis! u guys sound so funny saying 'they MUST destroy 'the apophis' NOW!!!!'

  • WE must have Advence Defence System by then.. and instead of using it on huminty, y not use it on the apophis!!!!

  • If they knew that it would come!! they MUST destroy the apophis NOW!!!!

  • what are the probabilities? can anyone pls explained this 2 me?

  • Ok maybe 2029 or for sure 2036.

hmmm 2008 today so 21 years to live.

  • ur are right oad

but do u think its wrong to stop something from possibly ending the human race and all life on earth

its like a robber reloading a gun to shoot u

u have a chance to stop him but u dont and he ends up shooting u

  • i dont really know what yall are talkin about all this scientific stuff. but i do know that this is some scary shit.

  • guys comon lets not think about global warming big rocks hitting us lets just live life to full we are all gonna die one day why not be it right now or in howver long lets just kick ass if there is aliens

  • i would die.. i have super powers

  • if apophis keep on circling its not onna b lucky the next time

  • apophis has a 1 in 100 chance of hitting earth

  • 1 in 45,000, actually. But close enough.

  • I don't speak english very much(im mexicano)you says that apophis has pocas chances of hitting the earth?(sorry for bad english)

  • Es muy improbable que Apophis golpeará la tierra.

  • Estoy revuelto a mi me dijeron que por ejemplo 1/2555 es muy poca probabilidad no que 1/100es mucha :S

  • OMG WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!!!!!!1 eek.

  • he is right guys. we are all going to die. please visit my site ybout this problem! w w w . awhw . de . ms

  • if that hit the earth are we all gona die??

  • no, just about 10 millions

  • maybe. but if you don't directly die, the science will die!

no oil anymore. no gold no metall, no anything. and there will be a new icetime.

  • naw some ppl hundreds of thousands of miles away will likely die of tidal waves, radiation, dust storms, and things like that but not everyone will die from directly from the impact, and i say the tidal waves will be no bigger than 2-8 times the size of the empire state building

  • hes showing first the year 2029 when Apophis misses, 7 years later it will come again and it WILL hit the earth several hundreds of sientests have prooven this.

  • the probability is 1 to 1200000

  • no its 1:45000

  • Rasmus55: There is a 1 in 45,000 chance that Apophis will pass through a "graviational keyhole" during its near-earth encounter in 2029, and that will adjust its orbit to hit the earth 7 years later. But the "keyhole" is no more than 400 meters across, and recent observations have led astronomers to classify it as a class 0 on the Torino scale. If it passes through a keyhole, it will hit the earth in 2036. But it's HIGHLY unlikely it will do so.

  • Um does that mean the worlds not going to end?

  • dude gunblade i never said that i said it dont gotta get mad and twist it all around so wat you said it BIG DEAL! lol :P

  • omg we dont know each other, you probably live in america? I live in scotland, so obviosuly iv never seen your mum, I was taking the piss, this argument could go on forever but i really cant be bothered so Il shut up cos Im sick of getting emails...I just have to say one thing tho, I have a girlfriend and I get laid most night ;) haha

  • cool. so the argument is off?

  • YES! it is official

  • ok. :)

  • good i dont want her here anyways

  • i was actually the one who said that kyle, i was at your house and on your youtube profile.

  • HEy, i was just suggesting a lil anger management dont have to get ur thong in a knot bud :P, i dont remember watching this either :P

  • so dont try to say that you said what i said.

  • lol too late :P im a ghost :O "SSPPOOKKYY" ... asswipe

  • well it's about time that the world ends ,, people u still have few years before u are judged so take this opportunity to be good with each other ... and ask for murcy .. anyway ,,,everything is possible ... as for me i consider that apophis is not gona hit the earth after 30 yrs from now the earth wont be in same gravitty center so it wont hit us.. but everything is possible

  • yo its true and dont listen to that asswipe "mArr" he's just a "tourettes tard":)

  • Just like your mother Kyle =]

  • well it's about time that the world ends ,, people u still have few years before u are judged so take this opportunity to be good with each other ... and ask for murcy .. anyway ,,,everything is possible ...

  • what i dont understand is .... has appophis been orbiting the sun for a long time? and if so how come we are just noticing it now? and by the looks of it if it has been orbiting the sun for a long time judgeing by its path it will always interfere with the earths orbit

  • it doesnt matter because the world is gonna end in 2012 its called the apocalypse. where the sun is gonna have storms then that will cause earthquakes hurricanes volcano eruptions you name it. it was even a non fiction movie and a book.

  • dont trust everything you read

  • true true.
