indeed. it is funny to see just how many people think it is actually mark wahlberg singing. the day i saw the movie when it first came out i looked it up and searched everything i could about the movie. the day Rockstar came out was also the first day i got really big into Steelhart. i had heard them before, but didnt get too into them until hearing them again in the movie.
What I like from this movie is the final part... Like the real life, the heavy metal and glam rock became monotonous and boring by the money and fame while the grunge and alternative rock emerge frome the street bars as the new and last great rock styles.
i wish JOHNNY DEPP was the Actor of this Movie CUZ HE ROCKS!!! NOT THIS HIP POOPPER MARK SHT!!!!!!!! F.U YOU RUINING DRAGON SONGS!!!!!!!! U HATE METAL FUK HIPHOP!!!!!
MrSkullhead1 it didn't make the music of the 80's silly, I love that music, the movie just told a story about someone finding themselve, that's all. This song is not grunge nor their is nothing wrong with playing in a coffee shop
This ending was terrible. It made it seem like metal was a silly pastime and this coffee house grunge was "real" music. It basically negated the entire movie.
Can someone PLEASE tell me the title for a movie about a retired rockstar that has put his career as a secret to both his wife and children??? It's a quite new one, and I can't find out what it's called or which actors are in it!! :O
@Stravinsky91 Pretty sure you mean the 2004 movie "Pop Rocks" starring Gary Cole as an 80s hair band rocker. He walks away from the life and becomes a banker or some sort, but is lured back into a reunion by his former bandmates. Tries to hid it from the wife & kids. It was like a Disney Channel or ABC Family Channel movie a few years ago.
I thought this was pretty stupid. It was like saying that making accoustic grunge music is more fullfilling and deep than playing in a heavy metal band.
when he was in Steel Dragon his style etc was like Axl Rose. When he left Steel Dragon he became something like Kurt Cobain... (I am talking about tha style)
@rickdafrog Yeah, I see... you mean all the 'Rock Whore' style (as Kurt Cobain said) till the early nineties.. and then it just disappeared for many different reasons :).
According to several interviews Mark says he sang his own songs and that they were dubbed when he was unable to hit a note correctly. These come from Entertainment Tonight interview. So i think so because in this song it seems to be his voice prelucrated with the help of the computer
@cmd130 "I'd have to listen [to the singing in the movie] closely. I studied with the vocal coach for six months, but we also had somebody else who sang the songs. But whenever we performed, we performed live, so--I'd have to pay attention to [the songs]. If I could hit them all [the notes], it would only be my voice." "And did you?" "Yes, surprisingly i did, but it was alot of work"
Actually the singer for this song and this song only is Brian VanderArk from a late 90's band called the Verve Pipe. They sang the song "Freshman," and "Photograph." Good band out of Grand Rapids, Michigan. The rest is Steelheart, and the vocals for Bobby Beirs is Jeff Scott Soto, who used to sing for Yngwie Malmsteen. EPIC EFFIN Flick!!!!!!
The singer is Brian Vander Ark lead singer of the Verve Pipe-wrote and performed this song for the movie-plenty of vids of him doing it solo..good stuff...
the weird thing is that Mike Matijevic have a diffarente voice. mike have a very thin voice and this guy have a low and more full one. it might not be mark singing but i don't think it's Matijevic either, not in all the songs anyway
