Had this feud happened in 1995, it would have been feud of the year. WCW using The Wall in 2000 was too late for him to get over. TNA tried, but Jerry Tuite passed away in 2003.
Um i hate to tell the commentators but ultimate warrior no sold the leg drop 11 years before this. The main reason that wcw failed is because they treated their fans like they were idiots.
WTF is Schiavone talking about, "No one's ever gotten up from the Legdrop!!!!" Goldberg got leg dropped 3 times and kicked out. I believe Luger may have kicked out and in the mess that was 1998-99, I'm sure at least a few other people kicked out.
I dont why people say WCW stunk around this time because it really didnt. What really stunk was AOL merging with Time Warning, cutting all of WCW funds and literally killing WCW. This match was not bad, it was a descent match for Hogan and it was a great match for Wall.
supposed to be the hulkster fighting a big guy, but there basically the same size. That being said, the wall reminfds me of the big boss man abit of the 80's. wearing a shirt, and hogan wearing his 80's attire. really reminds me of that match. anyone else see the similarity?
@joepod To be fair this was the annual trip to Spring Break for WCW Nitro. It's not about packing the house (I doubt they charged for tickets on these shows) but about the atmosphere, similar to WWF going to the Manhattan Center.
Honestly, I don't think that this match was so much about making the Wall look unstoppable as it was about making Hogan look bad. It just seemed like establishing the new talent came second to Russo's attempts to make Hogan look like damaged goods.
@KittColby I don't think Russo was back for his second run yet. This was right before they went on hiatus and rebooted the company. They were on cruise control here.
@peterp21 Thanks for clearing that up. The booking seemed very Russo-esque, so I thought it was him. One could argue that Wall overwhelming Hogan was meant to make him look unstoppable, but then he never went anywhere. So, in hindsight, it just seemed like the emphasis was meant to be on Hogan's inability to defeat him or his need for assistance. But yeah, WCW running on cruise control would perfectly explain booking the Wall as a monster, then letting him sink into oblivion shortly thereafter.
Wow, Hogan looks good by this point. He seemed to be back up to 285, 290. Wonder if he was on roiding up. Looks goods but can barely move around the ring. His left knee must have been totally shot. And also I agree with everyone who said that the announcing in this match is terrible.
Wow...I just read "The Death of WCW"...Awesome book if you want an insider analization of how this company fell apart. Like 90% of their audience...I had stopped watching WCW by the time this match happened. The Wall...never heard of him...is he anybody? I didn't even know WCW tried to push the all-american red/yellow Hulk before the company went under again. Sad.
RIP tha WALL..WCW shouldve given him tha US title atleast..but he got his World Title run in TNA before he died!! I loved how he was a German bodyguard one minute then a monsterous chokeslammin psycho tha neXt.

I want one of those WCW Hulkster T Shirts. It's not the same as the "hulkamania" shirts that are sold everywhere

A couple of years before this, WCW was selling out the Georgia Dome for Nitro. But I can't see more than a couple thousand people watching this.
