  • bajau semporna comprising of kubang, ubian, simunul, kubung, tabawan etc etc. some of these etnics living around sandakan, lahad datu, kudat, kota belud, kota kinabalu, kuala penyu and labuan. they prefer to build houses near the seaside easier for them to go to sea for fishing (fishermen). they are nice people but extremely brave if they are challenged.

  • budaya orang bajau itu memang cantik, tulen...bahasanya tdk jauh beza ngan bahasa melayu...nasihatku...supaya orang bajau perlu lebih berusaha lebih tekun lg...menjadikan pendidikan sebagai teras kemajuan bangsa...saya juga org bajau...walau tidak brp tahu bahasa bajau...tp sy bangga sebagai org bajau...bangkit bangsa ta !!!

  • Bajau is da best...! salam Ramadhan tu all MUSLIM iN tHE world...

  • long ago before colonilialism indonesia, malaysia, philipin are one... it used to be called nusantara the home of austronesian people(malayo)

colonialism bring untold suffreings to a happy and rich people b4 they arrived and separated this big nation. salam from indonesia miss u all... what a beutifull my brothers.

  • @lansanak I visited Indonesia and I can see that they are closer to how us filipinos look like, even facial reactions. Its sad colonialism separated our cultures.

  • @lansanak Salam brother, thanks for the info. I'm from philippines, a badjao also. Just love this song. :)

  • is this in the Philippines or Malaysia?

  • countries are created, but this are peoples immemorial even before those countries are drawn in a map

dont think by means of countries divided by borders but by cultures shared

  • Well I was just wondering what country this was filmed in. And are these people Filipino citizens or Malaysian citizens?

  • clue? they dont call themselves pilipino...

for pilipino is only those who are colonized by Spain- for King Philip

their ancestors resisted and pay great price in lives & property....now they are poor

so they dont like to be called 'Philip'

look at cultures of the 'philip'-color is only white & black-sumtimes red- bland

this is more colorful, unique, intricate design and more for the imagination

the new colonizers only think of one system or model-an obedient model-the rest destroyed

  • ok, but was this filmed in Malaysia or the Philippines? Thats the question I am asking. If you dont know then just say "I dont know" ok

  • im just opening your eyes to sumthing...higher

we are non-conformist, its never black or white-there are other shades of color

the answer is not only A or B/ Yes or No- there are other ideas...than your own

you expect an answer-an answer you expect, why? when you are given an answer different as you expect-suddenly you dont see?

u are not a kid anymore to be spoon fed information...

thats something to think about, its a pearl of wisdom...

    naaah.....im just winding you up!

  • um, you clearly dont know the answer. It's a simple question really. I dont need a philosophical answer, just wanted to know which POLITICAL BOUNDARY this was filmed within. Maybe I wanna visit? But I guess you dont know where this place is so you can't help me.

  • The Bajao and other indigineos peoples here don't have the political boundaries like you or me.

In Malaysia, the Bajao are celebrated for their culture. In the Philippines they are marginalised and looked down upon.

What do you want people to say???

Bajao peoples performing in Semporna can come from Tawi-Tawi (Jawi-Jawi) or other closeby places. Same-same.

Please say what point you make here.

  • The question is really fucking simple. If I were wanting to visit the place where this was filmed, what island is that on? What country would I have to go to?

  • Semporna is in Sabah. 4deg 26'11"N 118deg 31'54"E

Sabah is a Malaysian state located in the north of the Island of Borneo.

So, you would have to travel to north Borneo island, Malaysia.

    Is this clear enough?

  • In 1658, The Sultan of Brunai gave Sabah to the Sultan of Sulu for his support in a civil war.

Since then, several companies, the UK and now Malaysia 'lease' Sabah from the Sultan of Sulu (not the Philippine Government).

The Sultan of Sulu (and some in the GRP) would like Sabah back, but Malaysia does not want to hand it over.

FI, Sabah is the cause of much conflict in Mindanao due to the greed of Ferdinand Marcos and his brutal methods.

But, that is another story ...........

  • Enjoy Sabah if you get there. The people are very good in this beautiful area of the World.

And, this area is very peaceful with great culture and a good (typhoon free) climate.

  • this film was filmed in semporna. semporna is a district in sabah.sabah is a state in malaysia...

  • @Tique07

i think it was filmed at Dragon Inn Floating restaurant/resort Semporna, Sabah, Malaysia, and looking at the background that is. And these people are Malaysian citizen

  • Very nice.

  • nice song and beautiful background,,

    ano pong lugar ito,, salaam

  • this is our beatiful melayu culture!

our brothers/sisters lives in tawi-tawi, simunol those far away islands towards sabah borneo, malaysia

there was no border before, all come & go

we are happy and rich people...

    damn the new colonizers!

  • Why are Bajaus not proud of their native land the Philippines? They seem to be more proud to be in Malaysia, which is not their native land.

  • It's less a problem of Filipino Badjaos being less proud than the Philippine government and mainstream media discriminating against them or misrepresenting them and causing an ethnic inferiority complex.

  • Because bajau are natively exits in Borneo island not in Philippine. The ancestor of bajau actually have in Philippine and also sabah in borneo island in the Sultan Sulu era. But after the Portuguese take over Philippine they move to sabah mostly and still loyal with the kesultanan sulu in sabah. In addition, Malaysia are more peaceful than Philippine. That's why they proud of being in Malaysian.

  • how to distinguish between bajau and suluk? the costumes look really similar

  • It's not about beauty at all bro.. It's about culture. About our race. About our pride. I'm as a Bajau is very proud because i'm feel the happiness. Maybe u cannot undestand about its language. But to us, it is something very meaning.. U can feel the beauty if u really know what is this video all about..

  • Dress nice, but I dun c any handsome & Beauty at all?

  • thanks bangsa ku.. kekal apa yg ada dlm bangsa kita ya.. pendidikan jadikn terus kemajuan bangsa kita ya.. ellum bajau..

  • kalau tak pandai diam2 ja.

  • Beautiful song...hope you can upload more video about Bajau songs..

    ka lu maka pali..

  • Hello everyone!

Actually, this is the mtv video for the lepa-lepa festival this year.. All the location are at the Floating, Semporna, Sabah, Malaysia.. It is for the introduction for the bajau race in sabah.. So, no doubt it is Bajau! Yeeehaa...!

  • randyjam1980... malaysia (sabah)(semporna)(bajau songs)

  • bisa Zalie.. ka ru maka palik

  • soory for you fact.. bajau is one race in malaysia (sabah) so i think you wrong about information so you can't email me for you any information in race bajau ok..

  • @lasaiuniputra: The Bajau also live in the Philippines, in fact there are more Bajau in the Philippines than in Malaysia. The only reason that Malaysia is Malaysia and Philippines is Philippines is due to foreign colonialism of both Britain and Spain. Before that, they were part of the same Sultinates (Melaka, Brunei and Sulu), so its silly to segregate people who belong to the same race.

randyjam1980 is a Samal from Sulu, Philippines and understands the language of this song perfectly!

  • sampulna bailuuuu

  • yes. i'm gladly introduce the modern igal-igal of malaysian..

  • is this video taken from malaysia or mindanao?

  • @randyjam: This was obviously taken in Malaysia as opposed to Mindanao. You know why? Much better video budget! ^_^ hehehe. But still there's no denying that they are still Bajau.

  • anak1......... thank you for reply and hope you will upload more video. i'm from philippines and belong to samal tribes that's why the language are so familiar to me.
