  • people are so retarded. Yes, this is a design fault with the vehicle. And yes Toyota should be held accountable to the deaths of those 4 people in the intersection. But the driver of the vehicle could have saved himself and the other 3 passenger with a better response then calling 911, as if 911 is going to turn his car off in time. He could have, turned the ignition off, hit the emergeny brake to help control the speed. He could have rear ended a moving car to lessen the impact...etc.

  • It all boils down to whether a natural process can cause a resistive short such that (i) the computer doesn't pick that it has occurred; and (ii) that the resistive short acts to accelerate the vehicle. It is amazing that Toyota's engineers and Exponent's engineers aren't aware of a naturally occurring process that can cause a resistive short in tin plated or soldered electronics. Such resistive short circuits due to "tin whiskers" have been found in Toyota's accelerator pedals!!!!!
