Yes, it is strange to place some guy (Marx) up on a pedestal, as if his words are timeless and infallible. No one knows what will be the best political philosophys until we experiment. But the left have to unite, we have been too segregated. quarreling over minor differences. We have the same goals.

@BoofheadsUp That's what critical theory is for. The only thing today which unites the left is a criticism of the economic and (more commonly) the social power structures in western culture. The theory is that while there is still oppression, we really can't imagine what the good society would be like. What we do know are the faults and evils of our capitalist adversaries, war, torture, racism, sexism, imperialism, etc. If we can change this, then utopia just might get near enough to understand.
