It made me laugh one morning when a disgruntled customer told me that he was going to go to Sainsbury the next week to shop. I told him to go ahead lol.

Whilst most supermarkets are open 24 hours a day during the week, because of ancient Sunday trading laws in England, they are not allowed to open all day then .... Hence the opening hours bit.

Most stores open at 6am on Monday mornings and are open right through to 10pm on Saturday nights, when they have to close by law. They then open something like 10 - 4pm on Sundays before having to close again.

So, not as daft as it might seem ....

Tesco is by far the biggest retailer in the UK neither Asda or Morrisons come close ATM. Tesco has a 31.9% share of the market. The next nearest is Asda with 16.9%. Thats just over half of the share that Tesco enjoys. Morrisons only has 11.4% So even if you put Asda and Morrisons together you still can't compete with Tesco's share.
