But nado is right next to downtown sd, were just across from the harbor where the ferrys and cruise ships go out and such

The tuning that will get your guitar sounding close to this is simply standard tuning. However, you should take a tuner and tune each string down a small bit so that it's just slightly off ( low E for example would be tuned down so that it's just below E). Then do the same for the high E, but tune it down to a D. Use a capo on the second fret.

I think this song is more about what she wants from him. In her "fever dream" she talks in her sleep and says "I want your flowers like babies want God's love..." The flowers represent his affection or something similar. "Honest words she can't afford to say, like..." So, she's afraid to admit how badly she wants his affections, but he knows anyway. The song as a whole is like a representation of his feelings of guilt for making her feel this way. Maybe I'm wrong, I dunno. Beautiful song.

From the way I interpret the meaning and compare it to my relationship, I felt the track as being a God fearing man with a girl that seeks somewhat of the opposition.
