What a great guitarist! Its nice to hear someone plays outside the sos pentatonic box. Yngwie is bar none, in a class by himself, he is a innovator when it come to guitar. YM is fast, articulate, timing, melodic, and a great live performance/showmanship. Most of the people who make negative comments are the ones that are stuck in the box, playing the same licks on every song, so in order to elevate their lack of technical ability they attempt to put down what they cannot do themselves.

your right in the fact that just because he plays so fast dosen't make him a great. malmsteen is know as a great because he was the first guys to be doing all of this million notes per song deal. there obvisiouly isn't a need to play everything with such great speed because not everyone is playing at this speed. look at 'the wind cries mary', faily slow paced song, people love it. if he is selling records because he took the time to become amazing at fast picking, good for him.

He wasn't actually playing with a band. He was playing with a backing track. In fact, during one of the earlier songs, the backing track started to skip and he wasn't able to finish that song. He's actually playing a Marshall amp, but they covered the logo up with black tape because Roland makes their own amps.
