I hate turn based RPGs. No, not because I can't go 20 seconds without shooting something, but because I don't want my game based on grinding. There is NO strategy in FF - level up as much as you can, attack boss with most powerful moves, heal/restore MP. If you lose grind some more.
Exception to my hate: Chrono Trigger. Cuz it's amazing.

Damn, Square finally makes a game where the combat system requires actual strategy and thinking, allowing me to actually take a JRPG seriously, yet everyone hates it? Does no one care about challenges in games anymore? I, for one, am glad I don't have to keep queuing "Attack" over and over and lolwin every fight like a brainless idiot. Simple games with no challenge = boring and tedious, reason why I dropped the FF games. Tactics like Deadlocking and Flanking made this game so much better.

Stop comparing it to FF just because it's from Square-Enix. Im a hardcore FF fan, but I love any kind of JRPG. This battle system is fun, but the game was just too buggy, I couldn't get into it. If you think about it, many of the FF series had different battle systems, so Im not sure how you can TRULY compare it to the FF franchise. For me, FF 10 and 13 were my favourite battle systems, 7 and 9 were my favourite storylines.

I agree that the story sucks. but I did find the game extremely fun. the only people that I noticed didn't like this game are hardcore FF fans. for them, if it's not almost EXACTLY like FF it's no good lol. I think this game is paving the way for a whole new genre of RPG's. I've noticed that those who are used to the old FF genre, are usually turned off from change (unless it has to do with graphics). basically if you prefer having FULL control over EVERY character, you won't like this game.

Know what I love about this game, it makes you think. Ppl like you don't like thinking, so its a instant fail. ^^ Tho to be honest the battle system clipping sometimes during attacks was a bit of a let down. Side for that the Music/cut scenes were epic and very well done.

i hav played this game n i think its a disappointment frm square enix, i was thrown off by the costume design,i dont mind if the graphics is not great but in this game the story is a straight line,no twist no turns,the story is so simple n unchanging its boring to play.gameplay is not bad. this is my personal thots of this game tho, u might like it.this game is supposed to hav great replayability value but for me just once is boring enuff.

It's a bit slow in the start and it can be a bit hard to get the hang of the combat system, but once you do...Oh man it's totaly awesome, dont judge this came by it's cover, it's really good

Know what I love about this game, it makes you think. Ppl like you don't like thinking, so its a instant fail. ^^ Tho to be honest the battle system clipping sometimes during attacks was a bit of a let down. Side for that the Music/cut scenes were epic and very well done.
