Fantastic footage, I did the same with a baby Robin , I thought it had broken its neck but it soon came round when I held it in my hand for a while , it flew back to where it could see its mum.(Its on youTube)
Stunned birds tend to knock themselves blind for a minute. Birds have many more visual receptors in their eyes than people, and any blow to the skull or face can give them a swift pressurization of the optic nerve and/or retina, and too many of the receptors fire off at once. It's thought to be somewhat like snow-blindness. A bird's instinct when it can't see is to hold still (think of a falcon in a cap), and thus, it sat patiently in your hand. :) Thank you for keeping it safe.
this just happened then too a magpie we have fed for ages. it came inside the house in a crack in the door. i thought it had broken its neck i was so worried and crying but he sat their for like an hour then flew away.

a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, but a man who lets it free is priceless.

wow! wonder what they think when they are stunned. It's nice to know they recover though.
