This the film where they change the name John Sutter to the more german Johann Suter. Anti-American film at its finest and rewritting history that would envy hollywood.

Actually, Johann Suter was his real name -- he was, in fact, Swiss-German. His name was _Americanized_ to Sutter.

Trenker's "Kaiser von Kalifornien" is no more anti-American and no more re-writes history than other film versions, such as Chaplin's "The Gold Rush", Eisenstein's script for "Sutter's Gold", or Cruze's "Sutter's Gold". All 4 directors were foreigners. All were subject to outside pressure, whether from the film industry or the political climate in their countries.
