The kind of door handles you are talking about are not allowed in schools as per fire code. The door must open in one movement. Flipping the unlock on a know then turning the handle is two movements. Thank you for your interest and comment.

Why not just have a lock that can be locked and unlocked from the inside using a KNOB, like at home? Sure, a kid could lock it without a key, but they could do that with the school safe as well. It wouldn't obstruct people leaving the room because all they'd have to do is flip the knob!

- it was 9:05 A.M. and class just started. All of a sudden we heard A highpitched beeping and then Low pitched screeching. I said to the people next to me " Always suspect a lock down" Cause our classroom door was open.

In most schools, large and small, lockdowns occur many times during a school year. Gladly most of them are not serious. Although they cause disruptions and concern.

we had 3 school lockdowns this year....T_T from the same kid 2!!!

1. her brought a type of gun to school and they found bullets in his locker....so we were locked down half the day only to find out it was a nerf gun.....

2. he threw a saw in tech ed at a girl she wasnt harmed but it almost cut off her head so we had a lockdown for tht

3. was a techinical problem with the pipes or smtn so we had a lockdown and couldnt walk in the halls incase the pipes or whatevr shortcircuted and caught fire

fear mongering propaganda. notice how she gathers all the kids in one corner, if some one comes with a shotgun, that lock won't stop them, and all the children are conveniently gathered at one spot, easier to hit them all. this makes no one safer, but everyone a lot more afraid. this is what they do to make you want to ban guns and ask for protection, thus giving up all freedoms. just look at airports with ridiculous rules, and kids not allowed to bring their own lunch to some schools.

Most states now require all doors to be locked so a student will have to knock. Also, more and more school doors have bullet proof glass.

The School Safe device does effect the latching and locking of the door. Once the door is closed using School Safe you can still open it from the inside the same as usual.

A school door is supposed to be able to be opened from the inside with one hand movement, by turning the handle or pushing a lever handle downward. Therefore we did not change anything to do with the door latching device.

i once had a situation back in 5th Grade, when we were in a Lockdown. It lasted about 45 minutes, the situation was that two teenagers were having a gun fight in the drop off- or pick up student area. it was really scary, but i didnt know why i thought it was no big deal... haha

Oh ya bunch all the kids in a corner so one bullet can go though multiple children. but i do like this invention, at a recent lockdown at my school my teahcer couldnt find the key... but thank God it was just a drill... "best defense is a good offense." (arm the teachers)
