Even I knew it was Richard Digance. Although I have never heard of Ralph Mctell.

It's definately not Ralph. I too bought the CD which credits it to him, thinking it must be an out-take from one of his early albums. However, I mentioned this to him in a letter, and he wrote back saying that it wasn't him singing, but that he thought it was Richard Digence.

i've got this version of the song on a folk collection cd. it says on the sleeve that it's ralph mctell, but i didn't once think it was him. doesn't sound like him. nice song though.

I believe the singer and composer is really named Richard Digance.
