This song still sends out an incredibly powerful message about the power of unity, at the same time asking us to look outside an appreciate the world around us.

Personally I don't feel like the song ought to be used as an anthem of any sort, patriotic, protest or otherwise. It's just something we should hum to ourselves when we walk down the street or drive along the highway.
