  • nice song no wors YA! i know this song. check out the star spangled banner its awsome love it!

  • Copy Canada much. :I

  • @BLUESTAR1000ROX no just no...it was America's First Canada copied us.

  • This is the anthem of the Occupy movement.

But it should be the anthem of the US.

  • Jesus people! It is the Weavers for god sakes!

  • woody guthrie is my cousin and arlo guthrie is my cousin but i never got to meet them

  • And the last one:

In the squares of the city, in the shadow of the steeple

By the relief office, I saw my people

As they stood there hungry, I stood there asking

Is this land made for you and me?

  • FYI here are the missing verses:

There was a big high wall there that tried to stop me

Sign was painted, said "Private Property"

But on the back side, it didn't say nothing

That side was made for you and me

Nobody living can ever stop me

As I go walking that freedom highway

Nobody living can make me turn back

This land was made for you and me

  • All what is/was written might be trough, but belive in here in germany we think and belive it is a anthem, a second anthem of the US. And what is said in the Text, this is your land and my land, made for you and me - is there anything in the world wich can talk better about love for my home country?

  • Beautiful! Absolutely!

  • Definitely Pete Seeger.

  • No identification of the singers? Sounds to me to be Pete Seeger and the Weavers. Yes?

  • Lynching of Laura & Lawrence Nelson. In the event, no one was charged. Among those involved was Charley Guthrie, father of folk singer Woody Guthrie, who was born a yr later. Charley's role is uncertain but he appears 2 have attended as an observer or active participant, and he went on 2 become an enthusiastic member of the Ku Klux Klan. The incident was commemorated by Woody Guthrie in 3 songs, High Balladree, Bloody Poll Tax Chain, & Don't Kill My Baby & My Son, also called Old Dark Town.

  • 32 ppl mised the dis-like button >.< it souns kinda pitched other than that its a great song

  • idk why alot of ppl are making a BIG deal about this JUST SHUT UP AND ENJOY THE SONG!!:) k

  • i love this song.... personly

  • Weavers singing, correct?

  • @135Bubby First lead voice sounds like Pete Seeger.

  • st woody. the beatification of this man is long over due.

  • What makes you think it is an anticapitalist song??

  • they rewrote history again to whatever at the moment fits there agenda vote all them progressives out of office and get us out of the U.N. NATO ECT.....

  • that isnt even woody

  • This is being song by The Weavers. A group with Pete Seiger, Ronnie Guilbert, Fred Hellerman, and I can't remember. It was recorded around the early 50's.

  • wtf the lyrics... is this the real patriotic song?

  • @ChonnyEnd The real song isn't patriotic.. it's revolutionary and anti-capitalist song ;)

  • @ChonnyEnd yes

  • This song still sends out an incredibly powerful message about the power of unity, at the same time asking us to look outside an appreciate the world around us.

Personally I don't feel like the song ought to be used as an anthem of any sort, patriotic, protest or otherwise. It's just something we should hum to ourselves when we walk down the street or drive along the highway.

  • P.S.- The first singer after the opening chorus is Pete Seeger. It might be Arlo Guthrie or Phil Ochs after that, I'm not sure. No idea who the woman singing was.

  • is this the original singer of the song cause i need it for a school project

  • lightluver14, this is a tribute version. There are different singers doing this version.

Woody has several recorded version since he rarely sang the same song the same way twice. Here is one version on youtube.: Just put this in after the /

    watch?v=SKC977X5_Jc

  • @lightluver14 yes

  • this land is OUR land dont let the suits take it

  • they cut out the part about the private property sign...

i mean that really changes the whole meaning of the song. its not suposed to be a patriotic anthem, its pretty much a protest song

  • @thedogrunsfast find the orignal than

  • Protests, smotests. Idc if it's a 'protest' song. I know the meaning of this song in Ireland and America. Why the fact people keep arguing what the song means is stupid and a waste of time.

  • @thedogrunsfast

ya i need that part 2

  • a great song by woody gurthie

  • @thedogrunsfast What was it protesting?

  • @AmericanBadass44 The same shit thats still going on now-

  • @1canyonguy Could you please be more specific? There's a lot of things going on now

  • @thedogrunsfast First of all.....you guys need to stop it. The song is about the US of A. And, this is listed as Woody Guthrie, but I don't think so, the Seekers maybe?

  • @thedogrunsfast
