  • @Nza420 stop judging people by their appearance and listen to the music.

  • @broadswordbeast i can't imagine why I posted that. My apologies.

  • @Nza420 that's okay. At least you're not one of those guys who replies nastily when you say something perfectly reasonable. By the way, I did not say that because I put black shoe polish in my hair because I don't.

  • @broadswordbeast It must have been really late, and I must have been on the edge of consciousness when I made the comment. Alas, 'twas not a nice thing to say, regardless.

  • beautiful!!!! getting a bouzouki tomorrow so excited :) play a lot of mandolin and classical guitar and very much looking forward to learning this!!!

  • @mastouris69 'Our day will come from Greece'?

  • @kungfuasgaeilge LOL he possibly meant greetings from greece etc. you have to forgive us because your language is very difficult!

  • @kalchr Haha, no problem. Irish is quite hard! The only reason I said it really is because "Tiocfaidh ár lá" carries connotations of rebellion and all the troubles in the north. It's a shame that that's the phrase that travels farthest and is most associated with Ireland. (the phrase is also used by the political party Sinn Féin)

  • absoloutley excellent. Love it. Now here's the question; were can i get one from, and how similar is it to a guitar, which i can play??

  • Very good sound quality.

  • Do you have the tabs of this?

  • I'm happy to see you playing music.

  • beautiful

  • I own an Irish bouzouki, thanks to this man.

This short theme is the best one (in my opinion) !

  • You sir, are amazing!

  • That's fantastic!

  • Hey there, loving you videos, im thinking of getting a bouzouki but can you tell me if there's a difference between Celtic and Irish Bouzouki? Just noticed you use two different names for them:)

  • the irish version of bouzouki , sounds nice and similar to greek bouzouki.

  • THIS IS NOT BOUZOUKI....

  • @lifeowner13

    it's celtic bouzouki you fool.

  • @IamDaReAlSeaN the bouzouki, is one! if you want to call it bouzouki too.. ok! but its not.. fool

  • einai ontws ephreasmeno apo to ellhniko bouzouki kai einai metagenesterhs morfhs, alla onomazetai kai auto etsi -bouzouki den einai mono auto pou akous sta garoufalla kai sta piatadika..

  • @stringst ξερω πολυ καλα..

  • @lifeowner13 Of course not. Its a mandocello. Irish Bouzouki is just a nickname. Bouzouki, Saz, Mandocello etc. all lutes all different all beautiful

  • thts awesome i just wanna kno how i can order the exact bouzouki becouse the sound is amazing

  • how it is tune?

  • @Mr98giuliano I could only find GDAD, but that might be incorrect - I can't tell.

  • Great sound!!!Ciao Alessandro.

  • Hey rivieredom, this is ace!! You are one of the main reasons I have ordered myself a bouzouki... I can't wait!! Your videos show some excellent playing... And there are lots of good ones out there... I will be learning some tunes off you all... Youtube is such a good idea, allowing us to learn instruments in a new version of the old folk style of "passing it on", like the best old stories. Peace!!

  • Sounds like something I would hear on Pirates of the Caribbean... =/

  • @Daeir67

    Maybe because

Hans Zimmer is covering Hans Zimmer is covering Hans Zimmer is covering Hans Zimmer is covering Hans Zimmer is covering Hans Zimmer is covering

    ;)

  • @Daeir67 Nah, PofC is more "epic" :P

  • You're a Master! Great Music, beautiful and EPIC!

  • Thank you for sharing these songs on the Irish bouzouki. It inspired me to buy this instrument and now I play some of your songs. Playing mandolin I had to learn the songs on it while I waited for the bouzouki to arrive. Tuning the bouzouki in EADG, like the mandolin, allowed me to connect the dots. I absolutely enjoy your music. Thank you, Glenn

  • SO so beautiful do you have albums?

  • You have tabs for this?

  • @tommyroyall Dude, just listen to it, and try it by ear!

  • God bless you!

  • a real pleasure to listen and watch way out ahead of the rest we need more irish bouzouki music available or music played on the irish bouzouki and similar instruments Thank You

  • This is very nice! Super!!!

  • Merci beaucoup, monsieur Riviere,

  • Just amazing. Love the bouzouki, love this music, and love what you've done with it. Brilliant.

  • I'd never even heard of this instrument until I was reading a Loreena McKennitt DVD liner that told which musical instruments her enormously talented musicians play. That was nice.

  • sounds beautiful sounds similar to that of the insruments of albania

  • amazing!good sound!

  • Awesome!

  • I feel like I should be dancing at some medieval ball...

  • Sounds amazing 10/5

  • hi there. im 19 and i have played greek bouzouki since i was 8 until 17. I recently started again with a passion to learn and watching your video here has inspired me to try and play some celtic songs.

Such an amazing song you play there. Well done

  • wtf D:

  • Beautiful!

  • Solid!

  • (^_^) N!CE

  • This reminds me of some of the heavy metal bands I'm into. They blend acoustic folk music into overly distorted heavy metal riffing to create a genre known as "folk metal" or "celtic metal"

  • Folk metal is crap.

I like metal and I like folk, even folk influenced metal.

But all that folk metal is.. is folk songs with a distortion guitar and double bass.

    Pointless.

  • You sir have not heard much folk metal then. The pioneers of the celtic metal genre (cruachan) are good at being what you said but bands like Eluveitie are managing to develop a good, original sound. There are many folk metal bands that don't have such a corny sound, you just have to find them.

  • Yeah dude. listen to the song Tegernako by Eluveitie.

  • @LGrey8 You win a internet.

  • @LGrey8 Nope it isnt.. Look at Eluveitie for example.. Thats a totally new genre and every kind of medival metal (as sub-genre of folkmetal) is also something different, something new ;)

  • nice can i use this tuning on my electric guitar?

  • omg ... beautiful... :)

  • Thanks for the beautiful music.

  • très joli ! bravo

    Val

  • this is very good...! :)

  • The line up of the mandolin family is:

    mandolin

    Mandola

    Octave Mandolin

    Bazouki

    Cittern (10 string)

This looks like an Octave mandolin.

  • isn't the "octave mandolin" just a bouzouki tuned in GDAE?

  • I can't describe this with words...It was like a journey to the past...

  • makes me wanna pound some fucking brews and fight like the irish

  • Great cover:D

  • effing epic...

  • is this the same as a mandocello

  • More like a mandola but a little different

  • nah a mandocello doesnt have the octave strings

  • beautiful music dom when are you going to upload the rest of the video's of you playing the bouzouki on here your website has like 3 more video's. also is there any chance you would be willing to cover greensleeves on your bouzouki would love to hear it on them just havent located a video yet

  • I'M WILLIAM WALLACE

  • Beautiful.

  • You're fantastic!

  • Haha, that's brilliant! Loved it =]

  • I keep coming for more of this song.

Its got that spicy feel to it...

  • Congrats , simple and so beautiful!

  • holy shit, that's freaking AWESOME

  • Dom, I never get tired of this piece.

  • damn good playing !

i love celtic instruments, im considering buying one of those, any idea how much a simple but good sounding bouzouki cost ? i live in the netherlands so ill have to find a store somewhere :D

  • Cheap one is around 400$ (not sure of the conversion). As with any instrument that is "not popular" and is made out of wood the better ones or name brand will cost you. I'm going to get one myself!

  • wao we feel greece and ireland in that sound.. i'm charmed..long live the Celts!

  • Il parait très heureux en jouant, c'est ce qui est le plus le importent =)

    Awesome !

  • most impressive, well done! just dreaming to play like you one day! C'est excellent! je suis sans parole! :-)

  • San to ellinko bouzouki miazei

  • how sweets the sound...

  • Awesome!!

    Grandma Mary

  • Nice song and nice playing!...

  • Comme on se retrouve Barbiche, c'est top ce que fait Dominique!!!******

  • He reminds me of Harvey Keitel. I think his music rocks ass wicked hard. I write my own music and always try to follow my muse, hoping it will take me in the direction of this kind of music. It never does, so I guess I'll just have to listen to this guy. His Playing accents the specific things that I like about mandocello. My mandolin playing either sounds middle eastern on a moody day, or weepy italian on a moodier day. Rock hard, sir!

  • This song reminds me of Zelda - The Wind Waker ^^

  • Great job, well played, amazing, you made my day!

  • Man this song is freaking awsome!!!~

  • came back after a month and think this song is astronomically excellent. Did you compose it?

  • good , hello i'm Francescomk i am a italian artist

  • You rock! or rather... you celt!

  • Very nice sir....I like your music.

  • Has to be said... Full and Total Excellent playing.... emotive and clear. :)

  • this music kind of reminds me of Braveheart for some reason :)

  • scotts were celtic, lol

  • This is amazing. I hope I can be half the bouzouki player you are man!

  • SAVED AS MY BEST FAVORITE ON YOUTUBE!

  • excellent! best celtic tune on youtube....

  • totally agree with that comment :)

  • Wow, thanks captain buzz kill

  • Fantastico!:D

  • BEANS

  • be aware that hes playing over a strummed backing track

  • and?

  • ...but this ISN'T live music.

    This is Youtube.

And quite frankly, I don't give a damn what I see; music's about what you hear, first and foremost, and what I'm hearing is a good song.

  • you both have fair points

  • What ever it is,GET OVER IT!!!!!!

  • wow... very nice song Mr. Riviere xD

  • Just beautiful

  • Sounds like the Galician tune, "O Son Do Ar"... ?

    Beautiful anyway!

  • Pure music - wonderful!

  • Un amas de sentiments dans votre musique. Un grand bravo et beaucoup de respect pour votre musique

  • OMG! i fell in love with this instrument... i'll have to buy one myself^^ such a lovely piece!

  • whT IS THE TUNNING HERE

  • rahOwa, the tuning is GDAE from low to high. It's an octave lower than a mandolin or violin.

  • Just bought myself a bouzouki. Love it! Great video, passionate and inspiring. I'm gonna go play me some buh-zookie!

  • sweet

  • LOVELY!!! I will buy myself one bouzouki like that now,

I wasn't sure about the sound because I am only used to play guitar, but this convinced me to give it a try!! Please make some more videos and post them here it is soooo lovely!!!

    Thanks for sharing!!

    Christina

  • Very beautiful

  • nice! sounds something out of an epic movie! Being greek I've never heard a bouzouki used in any way remotely close to that but good job!

  • very very nice little piece of music !!!

  • Superb.

    What tuning do you use?

  • no credit for the guitar in the back?

  • fantastic! à quand Celtic bouzouki à la tierce à la mandoline ***** ,yoyo.

  • This song is wonderful. I can't stop listening! I wish it went on for hours!

  • awesome !

  • Are there only 4 strings U see on that 8-string bouzouki?

  • Well, it's one of the greatest thing I've ever heard...

If I could put more than 5 stars, I'd do it...

  • You, my good sir, have truly captured a melodic tune in all of it's spirit. I salute you and your amazing skill.
