As a former local mechanic, I've seen both car come and go. We barely make money of integras, whatever problems the owner have with an integra, they tow it home and fix it themselves after we gave em the price quotes. Golfs on the other hand, is just like any other european cars. They are hard to work with, failure prone, and pricey. And the best part is, we always put a big dent in VW owner's wallet. Unless the VW is like-new, I'll take the Integra anyday. 100% new Integra cheaper then used R32
@FloppyDonut I have own 3 vw and i have VR6 right now and I have been with the car for 2 years and barely i have to take in to mechanic some stuff i do it myself, I agree the parts are expensive, but still like the vdub, I don't honda or acura, i like cars but vdub are my thing and and germans cars are good,expensive but good to last, i dont know where you live but here in chicago you see more hondas and acuras beat up and with the mechanic,not to mention the annoying exhaust.

I don't care what anyone says but I would take that R over A LOT of cars. They may not be the fastest thing on the road, but they're way more of a car than an Integra ever would be. Nothing against them, but the R is all wheel drive, all the bells and whistles inside, and they look damn good. They are awesome cars regardless of whether or not they fast.

I4 1.8L 180HP 130TQ economy car, and ya'll are comparing it with a VR6 3.2L 237Hp 236TQ performance model car??
Mark4 VW's arent exactly known for being light. Everyone complains about them being overweight when totally stock. Put it against a stripped out japanese car and there is going to be a ridiculous weight difference.
@bharvey2010 My MKIV weighs right at 3000lbs which is about the same as the newer Civic Si's with a much higher safety rating. 3000lbs for a family sedan that can hit a freeway pillar at 80 and still open all 4 doors is just fine, not to mention the torque is SIGNIFICANTLY higher than the comparable Si meaning getting off the line is no problem.

I've been in a few Acuras, and I've noticed that the interiors are a bit cheap and the bits fall apart. Finally, is your period key broken or something...?
Yep,people really don't realise what an amazing unit the Honda is.. asfor it handling,it's the best front wheel drive cat I've driven.. inc the RS, Golf R.. if you've not driven one,& are thinking of some new wheels,for God sake put his on your list., I promise you you'll be very surprised.. against the E30 - 230 would have been a different outcome though.. R32's,overweight,slow ,even though it's 250 bhp.. it chassis & ride & handling suck.. E30 Mk5.. the best Golf I've driven .. to date :)

the R32 is stock. this was still a good race but i think the integra had some work done. I owned both cars, sold my integra for an R32 actually, I can attest first hand that a stock ITR will keep up very well but not pass the R32. I will add that the R32 has a very fine launch range to get it right or it will cut power thinking its slipping. This was not the case here. goood race.

The GTR is a V6 twin turbo, the Veyron is a W16 Quad Turbo. It shows you dont need an engine that big nor than many turbos, and certainly not 10 intercoolers to reach those sorts of speeds. German engineering always over does it, Japanese engineering gets it just right

Even if the GTR is tenths of seconds quicker, the Audi is still a better car all around. Us Eurotuners look at cars different than you Import tuners. The latest JDM civics produce 225hp from a 2.0L 4 cynlinder with a topspeed of 160mph+ and have about the same 0-60 time as the 4 WHEEL DRIVE R32, plus they are still CHEAPER when imported.R8 and GTR are made for speed so compare them on speed above all, plus GTR is half the price
BTW B16a JDM civic does 0-60 in like 6.5seconds...hmm sounds similar to a mark iv golf GTI, yet the b16a civic only has 160hp and 100 or so ft-lbs of torque, the GTI and 40hp+ more and twice the torque

@feki122 the itr weights stock (the rhd version) 1197kg this one has maybe saved 50 kg with the removed plastik maybe it has a carbon hood and there was a co-driver filming soooo weight-diff. would be def. a bit under 400 kg.

r32 are seriously over rated, also that model (mk4) is one of the slowest models of golf, putting the integra up against an old school gti and it would of been a much better match up.

Haha so the 2.0 i4 only has 27 less hp then a 3.2 vr6 but the vr6 has like 100 more lb/ft and the the 2.0 wins. Sound of the vr6 engine is nice but the DC5 engine sounds so efficient and well built.

R32 is a heavy heavy car so although it has 2 extra cylinders and more torque the weight difference is what causes it to lose. They are two completely different cars. Type r is a drivers car, rev the nuts off it to get power and have fun in the process! Type r is loud inside and the ride will bust your ass compared to the golf which as Clarkson says does what a hot hatch should.........it does everything!

They are both great cars, not even in the same category. The R32 has heated seats, it has a reactive 4WD system, for example.
standard there is about a ~300Kg difference between the cars.

the R32 is stock. this was still a good race but i think the integra had some work done. I owned both cars, sold my integra for an R32 actually, I can attest first hand that a stock ITR will keep up very well but not pass the R32. I will add that the R32 has a very fine launch range to get it right or it will cut power thinking its slipping. This was not the case here. goood race.

"Yeaa sure, some might be quicker but they are not better cars" Speed is one of the biggest adrenaline rushes you can have, to be honest the interior in the R32 is like a bog standard golf and everything else is rubbish about. The GTR is a V6 twin turbo, the Veyron is a W16 Quad Turbo. It shows you dont need an engine that big nor than many turbos, and certainly not 10 intercoolers to reach those sorts of speeds. German engineering always over does it, Japanese engineering gets it just right

Good luck pitting a 1.6 hatch against a Corrado VR6 :) A much more fair race would be a GTR against an Audi R8. Even if the GTR is tenths of seconds quicker, the Audi is still a better car all around. Us Eurotuners look at cars different than you Import tuners. Stock for stock, the GTR is quicker than the Buggati Veyron by 2 seconds around the Nurburing never mind tuned to 1000hp
The latest JDM civics produce 225hp from a 2.0L 4 cynlinder with a topspeed of 160mph+ and have about the same 0-60 time as the 4 WHEEL DRIVE R32, plus they are still CHEAPER when imported.R8 and GTR are made for speed so compare them on speed above all, plus GTR is half the price

The Buggati weighs like 4500 pounds. It's also not made for handling. Yeaa, Hondas are cheaper and a bit quicker, but VW AG still carries the worlds BEST (Not necessarily the fastest) cars in the world. The Golf isnt the fastest piece but it's a good car all around. Well, a R32 weights almost 1600kg, and the honda? 900, 1000max? and then, R32 has +/-230 hp, and the honda +/-190, those 40 extra hp doesn't match up with the almost 600kg difference, also, many here forgot the reason of the cars, honda = cheap but quite a fast car, R32 = luxory and but of fun, fuck me but i will take a R32 over a integra, even if it had 500hp, R32 is a car good for in the winter too, having fun with snow, hell yes.

@feki122 the itr weights stock (the rhd version) 1197kg this one has maybe saved 50 kg with the removed plastik maybe it has a carbon hood and there was a co-driver filming soooo weight-diff. would be def. a bit under 400 kg.
wich is still a lot and i dont hate i just say the itr is a fast ff car.
and just for racing the r32 is an allrounder.
i like it more pure, hard, fast.

r32 are seriously over rated, also that model (mk4) is one of the slowest models of golf, putting the integra up against an old school gti and it would of been a much better match up.
VW for life but honda still make some of the best engines :)

Lol for sure, the main reason I know is because I own a '95 GSR with a semi-built jdm B18C motor :). And fyi, not just ITR's have B18's, all '94-'01 Integra's have B18's (Integra LS=B18B, GSR=B18C1, Type-R=B18C5).
The '02-'06 Rsx's have 2 versions of the K20 tho, and in Japan they call the same '02-'06 JDM models a Honda Integra while our USDM model is an Acura RSX.....sooo it can cause some confusion lol.
Nissans are sick tho, built 240 silvia S15's are doooope.......oh ya and R34's/R35's =0.

R32 is a heavy heavy car so although it has 2 extra cylinders and more torque the weight difference is what causes it to lose. They are two completely different cars. Type r is a drivers car, rev the nuts off it to get power and have fun in the process! Type r is loud inside and the ride will bust your ass compared to the golf which as Clarkson says does what a hot hatch should.........it does everything!
