  • why is it on nearly every industrial music video on youtube there are always arguments such as "which band is true industrial and which is not" or "damn reznor, he sold out industrial to mainstream" or shit like that....we should all unite against MTV, emos, dance music artists - the ones who are really destroying music. :))

  • that logo is lame, too

  • i thought this band was supposed to be 'experimental', this looks plenty 90's cheese to me

  • Rammstein and NIN borrowed a lot from this band. Fantastic stuff, no wonder they did. If I had a band I would.

  • Golliwogg APPROVES of this song.

  • Sooooo sexy.

  • Das macht mich wollen, um Deutsch zu lernen. Blixa hast du es wieder!

  • Such a brilliant song and video.

  • Interesting to note that no one mentioned here how much Reznor was influenced by Coil. Oh well.

  • good song, great band !!!

  • I wish I had been older when this and the good Bad seeds stuff first came out. I've been listening to it for getting on 10 years, but to have been older when they were doing it, to go and see them live would have been mind blowing. *sigh* music is just not the same any more. EN over NIN and Ministry any bloody day.

  • fuck, blixa is sooo sexy.

  • Okay, the only North-American groups that could be considered comparable to the European Industry, Ministry or Revoltingcocks only.

Any other underground group to consider.

But NIN is good, but sounds that are commercial, therefore, ENB RULES ....

  • LOL why flaming Trent,,His album year zero is prolly the best industrial music ever made,,but then comparing US vs German EU music is like comparing Front 242 with Ministry..

  • great clip, wish the video quality was better

  • かっこいいね。今50代なんですよね。

  • かっこいいね。今50代

  • Me too man!I can listen this song every days and every hours !! :-)

  • Me too man!I can listen this song every days and every hours !! :-)

  • I honestly, even as a fan of Einsturzende Neubauten, I still respect Reznor, possibly because he's a local hero.

  • @danielhl22 but you didn't.

  • @danielhl22 go on then

  • @danielhl22 Why don't you????

  • Blixa ist der einzige Mann, den ich heiraten würde!! <3

  • Good fucking keerist. I like NIN, EN, FNM, RATM et fucking cetera. Why all the rabid need to pigeonhole? Original schmoriginal. If it's decent tunage, it's decent tunage. Even M.I.A. kicked some arse sampling directly from the Clash who kick no small amount of arse themselves.

Just enjoy what you like and leave the rest to the rest. Peace be with you.

  • I'd love it if Blixa and Trent were sitting together with a cup of tea, reading these comments and basically laughing their arses off. :-P

  • correct me if i'm wrong, but didnt they end up on Nothing Records? and if memory serves me correctly, last time i checked, that i was owned by trent reznor

  • @meimtwiztid420 Only one CD pressing of Ende Neu.

  • Comment removed

  • Sooooo looking forward seeing them in a month!

  • Went to see them in Amsterdam last week, brilliant !

  • Einsturzende Neubaten rules forever!!!

  • Whether EN is doing experimental or pop, Blixa is always an amazing frontman.

  • I have always loved this song but never saw them.......COOL!!! I like Blixa...

  • this REALLY REALLY REALLY sounds like a foreign trent reznor

  • BLIXA BARGELD IST KRIEG!!

  • Anyone else think he sounds like he's rapping a little? At the end?

    *crickets*

Ok, ok, I'll keep my opinions to myself.

  • music is good but vocals are too pop-ish.

  • it isn`t bad

  • It figures in the end they would turn into a pop wantabe band.

  • FYI, they cut this one to ribbons...gotta be a snob and say the album versions better.

The shattered glass solo is easily one of my favorite Moments In Experimental Music.

    T_T

  • This thing makes me think that these guys had a Daoist mental breakdown.

    :D

    Genial, keine Frage...

  • I juz heard like 4 seconds of the song and I was like,''OMFG THIS IS SO GOOD!''

    hahah

  • @CactusScreamO ...lil' boy... get out with your "screemo"... this is not for u...

    jjajajaja

  • @loas55 uh I Started a YT-account when I was like eleven, that's why my user name is how it is..

  • Oh, my god. I here NIN here. I guess, Trent Reznor was quite unoriginal after all.

  • @blacklightfreakout , @blacklightfreakout , I just realize this is Trent Reznor/NIN Terrible Lie as well.

  • costalima72@ neubauten is simply wonderfull and this music has all the ritm necessarilly to be one off the best

  • They are just as perfect as The Blue Man Group.

  • @Xziz10ths Uhhh....ok...wait--WTF?!

  • This is special music

  • My favourite style is EBM, yet as a lover of originality i love this song and many of their others. I prefer to listen to Front 242 or Nitzer Ebb for an evening, but i always have a place in my heart for this band and their fantastic sound which many inferiors have tried and failed to replicate.

  • wow, long time !! love you tube, my original cd of EN is dead.. thanks

  • I haven't listen this band before, it's awesome :D!!

  • this flamewar is pathetic. obviously many are very intense about their favourite artist, and since NIN make alternative rock with industrial influences while EN count as a true industrial band noone can possibly appreciate both equally.

you guys are fighting over who has the better taste in music, not which band is better! if you wanna express your love for Emmerich's "singing" and dont care about meaningful lyrics, dont mask it with pretentious music theory ;-D

  • EN can not be discussed with the words reznor involved. Blixa will be rembered for centuries. What was trents band called?

  • obsessed!

  • This is the song that got me addicted to Neubauten. too bad i have never found a version of the music video that isn't so pixelly and low quality though, haha. but oh well. :'(

  • Ach! The garbage truck just pulled up out front...how musical! It makes me want to pen bad poetry.

  • @giddle12 you truelly are an idiot. piss off and die of cancer you scumbag

  • This song is very sexy.

  • @orchidtender Amen. I agree

  • You know, it really isn't necessary to attack Nine Inch Nails just to promote Einstürzende Neubauten. Both are extremely talented, and the fact that Reznor's sound was influenced by EN should by no means be looked at as a bad thing.

  • I cant understand that feast of equal 5-seconds samples and bass. This song has no idea for me. Mb I do not speak German simply.

  • God, this song's so good! Is it possible that I love all the EN songs?! <3

  • @queencrimson1969 as true as that may be can you sit through the entirety of nnnaaammm

  • just love it!

  • Nick cave of germany?

  • @yhtakkiak Hah, you realise Blixa was in the Bad Seeds?

  • grande...

  • Aw, the final appearance of Mark Chung - I miss him. Oh, and I never noticed what gorgeous, womanly eyes Blixa has - I wonder if he's wearing mascara in this vid?

  • @babysgottherabies He looks a bit like Boy George!

  • @Perrickan look more like the Bug Eyed Earl comic

  • @Perrickan look more like the Bug Eyed Earl comic

  • This album gives me the horn, big time.

  • OH my goodness. The german version of interimlovers. Geez... just took me 30 seconds of the song... haha.

  • oh god this is great! and Blixa's movin is turning me on

  • I doubt if I even find something more ecstatic than this

  • This video makes me want to sing in German and move like Blixa while my bandmates are playing instruments and makind industrial noises

  • * making

    Damned keyboard

Oh well what other can I say, this is incredibly addicting

  • a unique and genious bandproject. forever.

  • Comment removed

  • sure, but they were ten years ahead of nin. reznor never had an original thought.

  • correct me if I'm wrong, but the album TABULA RASA is made in 1993, so I think NIN were before that one, and since this is the only song that sounds like them...

  • I'm sorry to break it to you but these guys were around many years before NIN. even if you don't like it they should be shown respect for being one of the founders of Industrial

  • Comment removed

  • I do show respect for them... I didn't say that all of their stuff sounds like NIN, only that one, which I think people will agree. other songs are anything but NIN.

  • OMG. You need an education.

Bands like Depeche Mode were sampling Neubauten over a decade before that corporate poseur Reznor was even out of short-pants. He owes his entire sound to EN and to Jim Thirlwell, and isn't fit to lick their boots.

  • @orchidtender

corporate poseur? come down, the music is still good

  • @orchidtender they are amazing but man don't insult reznor he is good in his own right. and look at Year Zero great album with a great message. ART IS RESISTANCE!

  • @orchidtender Hm, now I'm interested. In what song/s did EN get sampled?

  • @W4RW017 there are dozens of EN samples throughout the "Some Great Reward" album. The most obvious ones are on "People are People". There are others, but I can't think of them off-hand.

  • @orchidtender Reznor ruined the goth/industrial scene :( There was a drastic change in the clubs when "The Crow" and Reznor got out: they brought the trendy mass in through the doors, and it just hasn't been the same since. (Remember the 'clown' makeup...the black line across the eye from forehead to cheek? And all the NIN shirts...)

  • @orchidtender

Even though i'd say Reznor took his sound from EN, Depeche mode took the sound from SpK. And when spk went to become something similiar (synthpop), they were called Depeche mode, test dept and EN-ripoffs.

  • Comment removed

  • Not only that, take into account Reznor's constant whining: in his music, his interviews, his general opinion on everything. Industrial music isn't about whining, and it isn't Pretty Hate Machine.

  • @KingOfUm yeah, the "angry lonerman" schtick kind of loses its edge when one becomes an accepted, admired multimillionaire living his fantasy day in, day out. Maybe he's still so angry because one of his lackeys forgot to remove the blue M&Ms from the bowl in his vast, groupie-filled dressing room.

His whole bit is so contrived, too. Like how he claimed he "didn't know" that the house he bought to convert into a studio was one of the Manson family murder sites.

    Basically he's Pat Boone.

  • Amen to that; I mean, Reznor does have some good material, but his potential value as an artist is undermined by his self-indulgence. Personally, I love his Ghosts album, but I think that'll be the very last good thing he'll do. Funny though, Reznor's fans can wait half a decade for a new album and once it's out call him a genius no matter the outcome. Lucky, lucky man.

  • @orchidtender Funny you say that. The first thing taht came to mind the second this song started was NIN

  • @orchidtender I LOVE YOU

  • @orchidtender Rezno could have taken a sound but his lyrics is not artsy like EN or Bauhaus but rather goes in paranoid/despair/psychological/reflective way. but musically - what the hell, rammstein completely ows its sound to Laibach, some EN songs have strong krautrock influence and so what...

  • @orchidtender I agree with you, but dont forget Test. Department!

  • @orchidtender Amen!

  • @orchidtender

You should tattoo on your forehead "I feel to not think" because if you start the "he owes him for that" your gonna end up with a society culturally bankrupt.

  • You're*

  • @orchidtender And Neubauten (and Foetus) owe their sound to Stockhausen, John Cage, Pierre Schaeffer and Luigi Rusollo (hell, even Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music). They in turn owe their sounds to others before them. All interesting art makes reference to previous contexts.

I jumped on the bashing Trent bandwagon way back when he was a pup taking over industrial music and turning it into disco, but 20 years later, I now have a respect for his work. He has integrity that many don't.

  • @orchidtender If you don't like NIN go listen to EN, which I like, but I'm sorry, I prefer Reznor. Music is ALL about getting inspiration from other bands you like and that doesn't make you a poser, YOU need an education. NIN has been one of the best music acts out there in terms of rock and industrial fusion, even in experimental sound (listen to Ghosts or Year Zero), so please, respect. It's like saying oh The Prodigy fucking posers we all know Kraftwerk started it all and... God.

  • I have a headache now, but that was delicious, so it was worth it.

  • 666

    <3

  • EN isn't industrial.

    It simply is.

    EN=EN.

  • i dont know if you understand german, but do you know their song "was ist ist"?

  • just pure industrial.

    pure genius

    blix looks so hot

  • 1993 are the date of my birth... wow!

  • Holy shit, Blixa's eyes are insane.

I love this song, so, so much.

  • da ist nichts was sich so in meinem kopf ergiesst wie es blixa mit den neubauten "tut" !!!!!!!!

  • there`s nothing like EN!!!

    the best ever!!!

  • @ beer2257

Rammstein is awesome, but so are these guys, and they're kinda in totally seperate genres so they aren't comparable.

I've been a fan of Rammstein for years, and only JUST gotten into these guys, but already, if I had to choose between the two, I'd go absolutely nuts! lol

  • Agree!

  • "they are kinda in totally separate genres"

    very articulate...

  • wait... are you... replying to my sarcasm with sarcasm? lol

Ok, THEY ARE IN SEPERATE GENRES, THEREFORE INCOMPARABLE.

    Better? :p

  • FWIW Bargeld hates Rammstein.

    Different strokes, I guess.

  • I laugh at all the people that try to compare EN with NIN.

NIN pushed the genre so far that it killed the genre.

I love SP, KMFDM, Ministry, etc.. all of them are so different, they all have their styles, even Nitzer ebb & front 242 but in my oppinion NIN did more with Industrial than any of those bands.

Anyway, throbbling Gristle were the first and the true pioneers.

    Su shut the fuck up!

  • nin is the mc donalds of industrial.

  • I think NIN is to Industrial what MC Hammer is to rap/hip-hop.

  • NIN is no industrial, stop making weird comparisons.

  • Blow me.

  • That's the most accurate description I've ever heard. You just won several decade worth of argument.

  • you're right, throbbing gristle did start it. EN perfected it though...

  • Id prefer tihs songi f they used some distorted Skinny Puppy/FLA/Z'EV voice effects, it fits better to the genre than the "rock" version.. buti love idferences, thats y i love Industrial and experimental music, underground, uninvented, mind music, etc. And afterall, it is called Industrial Rock.

  • oh boy I love Blixa moves.

  • Brown noise

    i like it:)

    it rocks:D

  • When I'll understand why people keep bashing Trent Reznor for no fucking reason I'll be glad.

I love both Einsturzende Neubauten and Nine Inch Nails. Do you know the difference between inspiration and rip off?

  • I agree and I love both of them too. Reznor never said that he plays industrial music, it's mainstream that says this because they want to label everything. Though he has made music which I would totally call post-industrial. It's not necessarry to hate him just because he made it big, that's what people have to understand.

  • Although ihs early works+Ghosts-I-IV album is 100% pure (not-anti-music/lyrical version) rhytmic industrial, go check it out! If he wnats to create Industrial he should follow his Ghosts work(thge industrial songs)

  • I agree on that. Also if you check out the Quake theme songs he composed it's obviously industrial to me.

  • erinnert mich immer an udo

  • tabula rasa ist immer noch meine lieblingsscheibe von den neubauten. was für eine kraft, was für ein sprachreichtum. und das hier - einfach genial: ein stück klang-lyrik, in dem man sich einfach verlieren kann.

  • These guys were the first show i ever saw, fucking amazing!

  • können kein wort deutsch un tun so als wüssten sie alles von der band xD ohh man dabei wissen sie noch net mal warscheinlich was der name bedeutet ^^

  • Nine Inch Nails isn't even industrial!

    TRENT IS POSEUR

HE RIPPED OFF OF SKINNY PUPPY!

    EN fucking rules

  • There's more evidence to support that Trent ripped of Raymond Watts actually...

  • He didn't rip off either band. He sounds NOTHING like Skinny Puppy and Watts' earlier stuff sounds NOTHING like Reznor did. It's just silly.

  • idiot....the music of this band was in inspiration to skinny puppy an reznor. you just dismiss the fact that there was a time, where reznor war a noone, sitting in his room and making up his music style....and though trents a genious, he had many influences. and this is one of them. so f*ck you

  • I'm actually a NIN fan, I was just pointing out that if Trent "ripped off" anyone it's more likely Watts then Ogre because he was at some point a pretty big fan.

  • don't forget Swans song "in my garden" .

  • wow, this isnt what Id generally associate with EN.

really rythmic compaired to the clang-clang-bang-scream Im used to.

its still very industrial though, no question!

as someone else mentioned, these guys kick Trent Reznor's arse raw!

  • @warjunky444 EN push all the envelopes, including their own. Of course it used to be all "clang-clang", but they can be intensely subtle and melodic sometimes, too. CHeck out the Ende Neu album. Stella Maris and The Garden are two of the most beautiful songs you will ever hear. Even my mom - who is 75 - like s them!

  • NIN sucks

    EN are absolutely the best

  • They arn't that bad really. A lot of douchebags think they are the most goth thing since Andrew Eldritch listen to them, but a band can't help who likes them. Unless, of course, they dress like a transvestite and pose on girly magazine posters like some bands out there..

EN definately is better, though. They are one of the cornerstones of industrial music, and definately one of the most innovative.

  • I love these guys. I saw them a couple times in Chicago in the early 90's. I was not goth or industrial, I was just a regular guy who loved music and hung out in the back. They had nothing in the way of lights or special effects, but they were thoroughly creative and entertaining. One thing I respect about them is that, as great as they are, they never sold out.

  • Alter, besser, grösser!

Ich persönlich mag NIN - bis the Fragile - mehr als EN... aber die zweiten sind sicherlich (IMHO) wichtiger für die Musikgeschichte.

  • i cant say the bands name 4 the life of me =D

  • I LOVE BLIXA!

  • what?

  • God, I never know what the hell Blixa is doing in any of his videos but whatever it is, it's amazing. xD

He's all like, "Whoooooshy hand motions!" o3o

Oh, Blixa... you're so beautiful. x3

  • :D yeah, Blixa could probably prop up a picture of himself in front of a camera, records for a few hours and release it on DVD, and we'd all buy it.

  • geiles lied...aber das video ist viel zu unoriginell für deren stil..wenn man es z.B. mal mit dem von Sabrina vergleicht.

aber die vids ham ja auch nen großen zeitunterschied.

  • einstürzende neubauten, tolle musik

  • Ive watched several of these videos upon the request of my friend and it all just seems a little pretentious.

  • Undoubtedly mcfartson, undoubtedly.:D

  • i did like the garden though.

  • pretentious: attempting to impress by affecting greater importance, talent, culture, etc., than is actually possessed?

I don't think pretentious describes EN. They are out - there & very surreal at times

  • Thank you for the definition....I knew what i was saying.

It just seems pretentious to me and I think many others.

    Im glad you like it.

I just find it to be pretentious. I dont think they are that talented.

  • Folks just throw the word "pretentious" around a bit Hence, why I wrote the definition. Most folks casually say it without knowing what it means.

Maybe I misunderstood you? What do you find pretentious about them?

I'm not being an ass I'm seriously curious.

I'm sorry if I rubbed you the wrong way.

  • well, just what the definition states. it seems like it is that vein of german industrial music which I find to be given way to much credit. I wont sit here and say that I know all there is to know about electronic music. but I think there are way better forms of it than this. There is much more intelligent forms of of electro music such as drum and bass or jungle.

But just look at the guy. his facial expressions and the muddled camera shots. it all just seems cliche to me. I guess Im not hip.8)

  • Ya can't judge EN by a few videos. Blixa (the vocalist) is a dramatic persona. maybe too dramatic at times?EN have very intelligent lyrics, they make their own instruments, I could go on. Look them up a bit before you write them off. I will say however, They aren't as intriguing as they once were. Avoid their cd "the jewels" if you can. A tad over hyped. Good night.

  • this video isn't typical Neubauten. it's strange how it is almost like a pop video, but this is far from a typical. certain shots of Blixa dancing are very unique & would not be imitated by other artists. anyway, you say that "vein" of German industrial music but the fact is, industrial music was invented by Neubauten. they are music pioneers. as well, the lyrics are incredible. "the guy" as you call him, Blixa, has even taught creative writing. how many rock stars do that? read the lyrics!
