yea man...accounting is growing on me...might not be able to express myself...but can't argue with a 4.0...hehehe...and my gf is a graphics design major...and I help her with her projects every now and then...so I get the best of both worlds i guess...
you seriously made me think today..I am an accounting student..and by no stretch of the imagination do I have any passion for accounting..the only reason I am doing it is because my parents wanted me to..but the fact is I love art
I made the same mistake of listening to others when it came to my future. I too took accounting through my junior year at a major University's School of Business.. After being miserable throughout my 20s, At 30, I decided to follow my passion and went back to school and attained a Ph.D in a field that interested me. It was the best move of my life. My advice is to follow your heart, it will not let you down. Where as your head will always mess you up. Good luck.
These vids are really inspiring! I'm currently am at school for something other than art. I do learn from books and online material but I am considering enrolling in local art school once I graduate. What's your view on self-taught artists vs. school educated artists? Are the self taught ones more at a disadvantage than students from well-known schools like Sheridan? Do companies look for those with a solid background with art classes and such? Thanks for your time Bobby
First of all your works are amazing! And this has to be quite simply the best self motivation "Chit-chat" that i ever heard a teacher say, I'm a portuguese art student finishing high school, and my first drawing for Art class was quite simply in my teacher word's "CRAP! A 4 year old could draw better!" (Tutorials, Digital Painting, etc...) Gradualy improving day by day..anyway the schools need more teachers like you!!
Hi Laurie, I teach at Sheridan College in Ontartio Canada. I teach lifedrawing and digital painting. But soon I'll be teaching online so look out for that in the next month or so!
Books I'd recommend would of course be my own books :)
I started my career at the age of 17 designing Disney, Pixar, WB, Star Wars toys...etc at a company called Thinkway toys. Now I run my own studio doing post production, concept art/design and childern's illustrations.
Would like to hear less self-help chit-chat, and more about the painting process.. why you do what you're doing when you're doing them. Talk more about layers.. fundamentals of painting.. colors chosen etc..
I didn't really learn much from these. But you're an amazing artist!!
This is a video journal. not a class... sorry if you misunderstood. It's just an outlet for me to talk about the things on my mind. Thanks for the comment! Hope that clarifys things
tutorials about technicaly how to draw in photoshop you can find in 1000s by googling. Tutorials like these about learning how to learn and selfmotivation is rare. ;)
LOOL it's a painting tutorial plus motivational speech ? :D
I agreed to almost everything you said. thanks ^^
